  1. I believe you're right. From what I've read the price of a cruise booked in the UK is typically higher than the same cruise if booked in the US. Apparently it's not uncommon for UK citizens to book cruises through North American agents in order to save money. The explanation for the higher price is that passengers on cruises booked in the UK have additional rights that are not provided to US-booked passengers and the cruise lines factor the additional costs associated with those additional rights into their pricing structure.
  2. Y/Y positive doesn't mean the financials are good, just better than the same period last year. If they made a 2 dollar profit last year a 3 dollar profit this year it produces a positive Y/Y, but if they need a $30 million dollar profit to pay down some of their debt that $3 doesn't cut it...and as has already been stated, NCLH has not yet been able to start reducing the additional debt it amassed during the COVID shutdown.
  3. It doesn't have to be on the front page . All CLIA members have agreed to adopt it. Oceania: https://www.oceaniacruises.com/legal/bill-of-rights Seabourn: https://www.seabourn.com/en/us/legal-privacy/passenger-bill-of-rights
  4. Riviera was refurbished in 2022, likely after you sailed on her, and Marina will be refurbished this spring, so i suspect your opinion was not based on the current decor scheme.

    golf

Absolutely. Here's Port Royal's website for example. In the past they've even had specials for cruise ship passengers booking directly with them. https://www.portroyalgolfcourse.com/
  6. Hotels requiring a passport is not as common as it was years ago and in Bermuda it wasn't my experience even many years ago.
  7. It's immigration, not customs, that is time consuming . Does your cruise make any US port calls prior to Boston? If so, the immigration clearance will take place in your first US port and in Boston you'll disembark as quickly as you would on a closed loop cruise. Almost no one disembarking a cruise has to go through a customs clearance any longer...unless you have something that must be declared or if you're unlucky and get pulled aside by a CBP officer.
  8. You don't need a passport to stay off the ship while it's in port in Bermuda. You've been cleared to be in Bermuda for the time the ship will be in port. You can come and go as you please and stay in a hotel if you wish.
  9. Not so. You've already been cleared to stay in Bermuda for the amount of time your ship will be in port. How and where you spend that time is your choice. The gangway is open 24 hours a day. You can come and go as you wish during the ship's time in port.
  10. OK, I assume you're talking about the Joy sailing departing July 21 that arrives in Bermuda on Tuesday July 23. While the NCL website has a 10 am arrival, the official Bermuda port schedule says it arrives at 1330 hours, or 1:30 pm. One might be inclined to believe NCL's version of its own ship's schedule, but if you look at the schedule for July 23 you'll see that Vision of the Seas will be occupying the Heritage Wharf berth that the Joy uses until 12:30 pm, and the port schedule is consistent with Royal Caribbean's own schedule. Conclusion...it's virtually certain that the Joy will not be docking at 10 am that day, so you'll get extra time, but not a full extra day.
  11. The OP lives In NY City, so they would have to travel to and from Boston for the Gem, but the Joy and Eclipse are local, requiring minimal travel.
  12. We've sailed many times to Bermuda and elsewhere on both cruise lines, although not on either of those ships. First...please look carefully at NCL's itinerary. You do not get four full days rather than three. On some Joy sailings you get an extra night docked in Bermuda but your ship leaves at 7 am on that last day so you're not in Bermuda for a full extra day, really just a few extra daylight hours on the next to last day and then the extra overnight. There may be a Joy sailing or two that arrives an afternoon earlier, but it's still not a full additional day. Most weeks the two ships have virtually identical schedules. Second...Why do you say you have to do an "all inclusive" with NCL? You can reject the Free at Sea beverage (open bar) or specialty dining packages, or both, and that way you won't have to pay the gratuity charges, which are substantial for the beverage package. We consume little alcohol so we always reject the open bar package. and save hundreds in gratuity charges. we do take the specialty dining as the gratuity charge is minimal. Frankly, we aren't fans of larger ships and Eclipse is at least a bit smaller than Joy, but not so much so that based on size I would choose it over the newer Joy. that Eclipse hasn't been refurbished would be somewhat off putting to me. IMO the $600 in "use it or lose it" credits might sway me in the direction of the Eclipse as otherwise I would consider it a 50-50 coin toss, with the Joy winning based on age and likely condition and Eclipse winning based on its smaller size
  13. For Boston and Saint John the Canada/New England Ports of Call board is the best place to post your question.
  14. You posted this on a thread that's been inactive for 9 years, so no...they're not on your upcoming cruise. And it's not a very good idea to post your phone number on a public message board.
  15. Activities that may please your children include: A visit to the National Museum of Bermuda, which is located in the Royal Naval Dockyard just steps from where your ship will dock. Bermuda Fun Golf...a fancy mini golf course also located in the Dockyard A trip to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo in Flatts The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on the outskirts of Hamilton Crystal and Fantasy Caves, not far from St. George's (note: reservations suggested)
  16. We always receive a substantial percentage of our cruise fare as OBC from our travel agent...not one penny of casino play, not one word of complaint required nor is travel as part of a large group. Plus our travel agent also has occasional promotions providing prepaid daily service charges in addition to OBC. Cruise lines' (not just NCL) preferred producers are often beneficiaries of higher commission rates as well as support of prepaid service charge or other promotions that they pass along to their customers.
  17. As has already been noted, this is not a visa. The UK is not part of the EU, so even when the ETIAS is implemented by the EU, which won't be until at least mid 2025, it wouldn't be needed for a trip to the UK. The UK has its own similar program called ETA but at present it's only in use for certain countries in the Middle East. Eventually US citizens will need it, but the effective date has not yet been announced.
  18. FYI there's a new Iceland and Greenland board
  19. Since the other codes you named are taken from the NATO phonetic alphabet, I strongly suspect this one is also from the NATO phonetic alphabet, so it would be Alpha, not "Alfa".
  20. Although you're certainly correct, you're responding to a question asked almost two years ago and I'm pretty sure the cruise in question was taken a long time ago.
  21. I wasn't being critical of you. I was pointing out to others that there was no further need to answer your question as you had gotten the answer on the other thread.
  22. The OP has already had their question answered on the other, lengthier thread.
  23. There's no coupon code. Go to the parking page on the cruise terminal's website, https://nycruise.com/manhattan-terminal/parking/ and click on the "Make a Reservation" link, which brings you to https://widget.arrive.com/index.html?ui-components=event-list,location-list,checkout,purchase-confirmation&capture-plate=always&coordinates-marker=false&destination-location-id=51217&destination-venue-id=517845&enable-google-pay=true&enable-apple-pay=true&parkwhiz-opens-in-new-tab=false&pricing-access-code-exclusive=true&pricing-access-codes=f8107238&t-and-c-override=true&title-override-text=Manhattan Cruise Terminal Official Parking&utm-source=https%3A%2F%2Fnycruise.com%2Fmanhattan-terminal%2Fparking%2F . If you click on the listing for your cruise you may find that there's a discount from the normal $45 per day rate. It won't be available for every cruise...typically only parking for longer cruises have been discounted .
  24. Check the gift cards you want to use very carefully as in the past I've seen some that specifically say they can't be used onboard a cruise ship.
  25. It's not a garage at the port, it's a large parking lot. This photo on Google Maps even shows it with a Princess ship docked there: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Los+Angeles+World+Cruise+Center/@33.7422282,-118.2764699,706a,35y,39.28t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x80dd363f413c0f7d:0x556daba91fe62a7c!8m2!3d33.747599!4d-118.2770596!16s%2Fg%2F1t_hz913?authuser=0&entry=ttu
