  1. I would choose one of the mid ship DR's on deck 6, DaVinci or Deck 5, Michelangelo, with the nod toward deck 5. These have adjacent to them and it is easier to get to the theater.
  2. Yes, if operating it is a smoking cigar & pipe lounge, the only location on board for cigars and pipes.
  3. Charge your play to your on board account. The amount will net against any credit (OBC) or debit balance. At the slots you do this yourself, just follow the prompts. At the tables just place your medallion on the table, tell the dealer you want to charge play to your on board account and mention the amount, example $200. The pit boss will handle the transaction, have you sign a paper and will then instruct the dealer to provide you with the chips. Then play away. Any slot winnings or remaining balance will be in your casino account. You have to cash out your casino account before the deadline on the last evening. For table games your balance will be in the form of chips that you can cash out or carry back to your cabin. Make sure you cash out your chips before you disembark the ship.
  4. No happy hours any more. Discontinued years ago before the plus fares were offered. With so many passengers with plus fares there really is limited marketing advantage for happy hours. The break even for the additional cost of a plus fare is around 2 alcoholic beverages/pp/day. Not much. It is a nice value. There is a loyalty event most evenings from 5 to 7pm where you can get a limited selection of watered down cocktails for maybe $6/7 + 18% service charge plus some snacks. It is supposed to be for Platinum loyalty members and higher, but this is seldom checked. If you are in a full suite on a Royal Class ship you can go to the concierge lounge.
  5. Different CD's may provide different evening activities from their inventory of activities. Princess also has lots of b2b passengers on their cruises so the evening events do tend to alternate.
  6. In the past you did not know until you read the patter. Theme nights might show in the medallion app schedule of events a week or so prior to the cruise. These are not specialty nights. If they have them they are 1 hour themed events. C&W night will mainly be line dancing to country songs. Rock & Roll night is mainly old songs, maybe a hula hoop or swing contest. Disco or 70's night is another line dance night except the line dances are disco ones.
  7. If you book the plus fare internet is included along with the Premier Beverage Package and daily gratuities. The breakeven is around 2 alcoholic beverages/pp/day. There are no further internet costs for plus fares. Now your question about the internet. You can easily check airline sites, and send/receive emails. It should be good enough to stream programs on your phone or smart device. But, if you are sailing in Alaska, the northern latitudes, in general the internet satellite uplink/downlink is slower than it is at the mid earth latitudes. As explained to me it is because of the satellite's position in relation to your position.
  8. Private island is a yes, but no fountain soda is available so that part of the package can not be used. Don't expect all the selections you would find on board. The package may be used on our private islands, all food and beverage venues, and other areas such as the theater or public spaces that offer beverage service. Selections and service are limited to each venue’s menu offerings and operating hours.
  9. There used to be a Country & Western night in the CD's inventory of theme nights. Gave them an event to do their line dancing. Some CD's included it in the schedule, some did not. Are they having theme night events post covid?
  10. Maybe a display or some red, white and blue cakes. No fireworks. Any party will be up to the CD staff.
  11. Terms and conditions The package provides a 25% discount on the following excluded items: all bottles of wine, one liter bottles of water, canned soda and bottled juices.
  12. By the way. If you are sailing to Alaska on a Royal class ship, Majestic, Discovery or Royal Princess these ships have a concierge lounge with a concierge on duty some hours of the day. Other Princess ships do not have a concierge lounge.
  13. They have youth centers for youth 3 to 17. Very young must be toilet trained to use any pool or water feature. No swim diapers. There are no water slides, surf riders, climbing walls, car tracks, and such on Princess ships. Hawaii is a 15 day round trip with 9 sea days. Not many youth on board these long sailings. The crossover from CA to Hawaii is cool the first 2 to 3 days and seas can be choppy. Generally turns warm and tropical once you cross the Tropic of Cancer. https://www.icruise.com/cruise-lines/princess-cruises-kids-programs.html https://www.princess.com/news/news_releases/2017/01/Princess-Cruises-Unveils-Newly-Reimagined-Youth-&-Teen-Centers.html
  14. Might be able to get you pushed up the waiting list, but I would make alternate plans. Most excursions can be cancelled a few days before the excursion. Air excursions and some other Alaska excursions have a longer cancellation period, 30 days I think. If you are thinking about an air excursion or one of the long cancellation period excursions then place yourself on the waiting list and see what happens at cancellation time.
  15. Active & vets. Find details here: https://www.princess.com/military_benefit_program/
  16. Try live chat. What is going on? Princess failed in the on shore/booking customer service area with their phone service. During the shutdown they placed too much of unavailable funds into an app program that is full of bugs and issues and are receiving more calls than they can handle about the app program along with normal calls. Very poor management.
  17. If you could bring along another family member you probably will get some relaxation time.
  18. Shore excursions are the only thing you can pre-book using OBC. The OBC must show in your booking on the Princess web site in order to use it. OBC is applied to shore excursions per person. For example passenger A has $400 OBC, Passenger B has $100 OBC. The excursion is $200 each. "A" will have all of the excursion cost covered. "B" will have $100 covered and your credit card will be charged for the other $100. One way around this is to call Princess to book the excursion (long wait times reported).Princess has been able to combine the two OBC's. The other items you mention can not be pre-booked using OBC. You have to wait until you board. You should be able to book specialty dining and spa appointments on boarding day without much difficulty.. There is no way to pre-pay and transfer. You may be able to pre-pay, cancel within the cancellation periods and then rebook at the spa and at the dining line or in person at the specialty restaurant. But, this seems like extra steps.
  19. With Princess plus fares you break even with around 2 alcoholic beverages/pp/day. The 18% beverage service charge is included in the package. No further per drink amounts are charged. If you have no use for the wifi/internet then the breakeven is around 3 alcoholic drinks/pp/day. The daily gratuities are paid as part of the plus fare. If you choose the no frills fare then you are responsible for the daily gratuities which are between $14.50 and $16.50/pp/day depending on cabin selection. Plus fares seem to be here to stay. Princess always has some sort of promotion going on besides the plus fares. Could be some OBC, specialty dining things like that. If you see what you want book it. Club Class mini suites and full suites come with club class dining. The menu is the same but service, and seating is greatly improved. If you are a military vet. check out the Princess military benefit. If you own Carnival Corp stock check out the shareholder's benefit. https://www.princess.com/military_benefit_program/ https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/food-and-dining/club-class-dining/
  20. Remember that the beverage package does not include wine by the bottle. There is a 25% discount on bottled wine.
  21. Normally no laundry specials. There are self service laundries on each passenger deck. Not expensive. $3 each wash & dry. Bring your own soap & dryer sheets or they are for sale in the laundry. Irons are free. Laundry service is priced per piece. From experience a typical bag of normal laundry will be around $50/60. Depends on what items you place in the bag.
  22. There are some chairs in the check in area, but it isn't a very comfortable area to wait for a long time. All the vendors are inside the security area, and I believe there are no restrooms in the check in area. There may be rest rooms downstairs in the luggage area, not certain. There are 3 terminals there each a little different. Search for the terminal map where your flight will depart. I would consider the Princess tour which I guess gets you to the airport around noon. You could also investigate a private tour.
  23. Believe post #2 misread GBP as OBC.
  24. Believe the casino only accepts US$. Maybe the cashier will exchange. You probably could exchange at the passenger service desk at a poor rate.
  25. So probably an issue with a fellow passenger, not an issue with the HVAC system as a whole nor with this particular cabin's location on the ship.
