  1. So how does Carnival Corp compare to other large cruise corporations? Are they all in the same situation or is it just Carnival.
  2. Since this is a winter season 2022/23 voyage whatever is reported now probably will change by then. Each evening's menu selections may also vary by the exec. chef that is on board at the time. It is a pretty good assumption that New Year's Eve will have special formal night selections.
  3. Standard is two pump bottles in bathroom shower, shampoo/conditioner combined in one, body wash in the other. Bar(s) of soap for the sink, tube of hand/body lotion. Some sailings are short of inventory. Since the change to the pump bottles we started to pack a few bars of soap. Many also bring their own shampoo & conditioner.
  4. Some thoughts Thunderbird19, assume you do not have the "Plus" fares which include the beverage package wifi and gratuities. If you do have the plus fare then there is no need to purchase an additional beverage package. Mocktails can be made at any bar. They can be standard or prepared to your taste. A standard selection of juices are available at no charge during breakfast hours, maybe to 11am. After that there would be a charge when ordered at a bar. Fresh squeezed juices are not available on all ships and limited to certain bars. Sodas are fountain sodas and are limited. Canned soda is not included.
  5. It is easy to just walk over to the beach area. When we were there there were plenty of lounges under palms Don't believe the beverage package works there, but I could be wrong. The bar/food area was privately operated.
  6. 3. Use the paid self-service laundry rooms. $3 wash/$3 dry. Do this on boarding day unless you are in a suite or want to pay for same day service.
  7. No dress code on Princess for afternoon tea except the normal requirements for the MDR, no bathing wear, shoes and shirt required. What you mention to wear is perfectly fine.
  8. From reading your post it appears that Barcelona is the end of their first 7 days. It will be treated just like you, a regular port day. You can book tours stay on board or do whatever you like. If they have to change cabins this will be arranged by the cabin steward. Discuss in advance. Tips for changing cabins. Place as much on hangers in the closet as possible. These items will be moved as is and hung in your next cabin. Place other items in your suitcase. These will be moved to your next cabin. Remove items from the cabin safe. Visit your next cabin steward in advance to introduce yourself. Cabins have to be vacated by 8am. You should be able to place items into your new cabin safe shortly afterwards. The onboard accounts will roll over and there will be one final invoice at the end of the 2 weeks. Unless procedures have changed you are not required to leave the ship in Barcelona as mentioned in the previous posting. It's treated just like any other port day.
  9. For the most cabins yes. Just ask the cabin steward to open up the connecting balcony door. Somethings to be aware of: Bring something like a tie to fasten the open door to the eye hook. The ship is old and the latch may not hold all the time. The connecting door is only about 2 feet wide allowing you to pass between. The door does not open to provide one large balcony. The balcony is 9ft wide x 6 ft deep.
  10. That would be a no. Maximum length in the canal is 772 ft. All of Princess' fleet is longer than that.
  11. I would contact the airline. Also agree that Princess' customer service has disappeared. Post covid is difficult both financially and operationally, but the total lack of customer service and outsourcing to Asia will only complicate the issue and turn customers away. In your case airlines are going crazy with scheduling causing many issues. It also does not help that Princess introduced a new bug infested app which is causing a tremendous back up in phone service. Terrible management decisions to reclaim their portion of the market.
  12. Not much, but go through it page by page. Could be something you could use.
  13. Different sides at different ports. Depends on many operational factors. Gangways can be placed on either side of the ship. It Quebec City the bow faced up river when we were there.
  14. Passenger boarding in Honolulu sailing to Japan is a one way international route and is not covered by PVSA law. The PVSA conditions apply to ocean travel between different US ports.
  15. As I understand it post no. 2 is correct. The direct answer to your question is that the stand alone drink packages are individual and both or all passengers in a cabin are not required to purchase. When purchased individually the $12 package cost approximately $70/pp/day and the $18 package is approximately $94/pp/day. When the drink packages are included as part of the plus fare package or premier fare package then the first two passengers are required to have the same fare and thus both will have the package. Here is some text from Princess One guest’s participation in Princess Plus may be dependent on the other guest in his/her stateroom’s participation, as determined by booking method. *Fares are per guest and apply to minimum lead-in categories on a space-available basis at time of booking. Fares are non-air, cruise- or cruisetour-only, based on double occupancy and apply to the first two guests in a stateroom.
  16. I have seen what the op references more than once.
  17. Yes, but limited to 12 cans/pp carry on. Officially plastic bottles are not permitted, but water on board is in plastic bottles. Go figure. You can find all the terms in the passage contract. Follow Thrak's advice. Pre-purchase water. If you have the plus or premier fare then you can get all the water you want. Water is included.
  18. No. As mentioned Skywalker's, all the way aft and all the way up, has great views. Horizon Terrace also has nice views. The Conservatory above the Calypso Reef indoor pool is also a nice indoor lounging area.
  19. Fresh OJ is not available on all ships. But if available it is covered by the plus package. A selection of standard juices is available to all no charge during breakfast times. After that there is a charge. This is what I think the reference to juices in the plus package means. You get them anytime not just at breakfast.
  20. A site like this may help you http://www.thealaskadream.com/alaska-fishing/alaska-fishing-regs/salmon-run-timing/
  21. It is my understanding the Plus & Premier packages are required for guests 1 & 2 in a cabin. It is guests 3 & 4 that are optional.
  22. Not really shade. There are nets that cover the area, but these do not protect from the intense sun's rays.
  23. I'll answer this way. If you enjoy sitting a good part of the day in a reserved lounge chair with some services then the sanctuary is for you. Cost I believe is still $20/half day, $40/full day, $30/day if you book the entire cruise, all days. There isn't a lot of shade in the sanctuary. The sanctuary is very popular on Caribbean cruises. Board early and go there directly to select your lounges. For the 2nd part of the b2b you should be able to reserve your place a day or two before the first leg is completed. Ask as the sanctuary.
  24. Cabins in the area of the laundry rooms, such as across the hall, are fine. No surrounding sounds. In our experience cabins across the hall are convenient. An interior cabin that is directly adjacent may hear some noise through the wall. Just a guess, never really booked one of these cabins. Not sure about the hours, but believe there is an opening and closing time each day.
  25. I think the vast number of 3rd and 4th berth passengers are minors. Could be the thinking why 3rd & 4th berth guests are not required to pay extra for a package. Maybe better, a plus fare for minors that is way less expensive & include wifi, grats, and a soft drink package. Maybe even two different minor packages, age separated, something like 12 and under, 13 to 17/20 (depending on itinerary). These minor packages could then be purchased even when families separate their children into different cabins.
