  1. Cabins may be ready sooner than you think. Possibly when you board. Any of the tables around the pools are quiet and you can get a burger, dog, fries, chicken from the grill or a few slices of pizza.
  2. Bar Harbor and Newport are protected harbors. Wave action rocking the tenders should not be an issue unless there is a storm. Fall is hurricane season so you can never know what will happen. Storms can greatly effect the ability to enter and exit the harbors. We have had this happen a number of times.
  3. Why bother to have a private beach island if they make the port only 7% of the time?
  4. Should be the same as the Sky and other Royal Class ships. Starboard aft patio on deck 7 Deck 17 aft Maybe deck 17 above and just forward of the Lido Pool (not sure about this) Walking track is on deck 18 and do not intersect any of these areas. There is no full promenade on the Discovery.
  5. This is how it was. If it isn't this way now it is something very similar. If you are in a full suite or are Elite you receive priority tendering. Procedures for this vary. Read the information provided or ask. All others report to the designated tender ticket location to get their tender ticket. It is usually a DR. Your ticket has a number on it. You wait in the DR until your number is called. When called you are escorted to the pontoon to board the tender. On the return you just show up at the dock and wait in line. No priorities. Get there early. Lines get long. At some point, maybe a few hours, after tendering began, when the lines are all cleared there usually is an announcement that indicates that tender tickets are no longer required, Just report directly to the pontoon. You mention Maine, Assume Bar Harbor, and RI, Newport. If you are sailing from Canada and Bar Harbor is your first U.S. port then all passengers on board will be required to go through immigration. You will receive information about the procedure if this is your situation. I would expect the ship to make these ports of call unless there is a serious storm. Princess seldom stops at these ports.
  6. There was a local person outside the security area that was selling RT bus tickets for a shuttle to a stop close to Market Square. Believe they were around 5 Euros/pp, don't remember exactly. This service was not a ship's shuttle, but was run by the local bus company. Could have changed since we were there.
  7. No, they are included up to $12. If over $12 you are charged the difference + 18%. Wine is one of the alcoholic beverages that does not have a wide selection at $12 or less.
  8. Maybe you can just pour into a refillable water bottle.
  9. No. It has 2 main Lido deck pools, the Terrace Pool, Lap Pool and the family pool on deck 17 aft. None are covered.
  10. Just want to point out that Princess sails from San Pedro, not Long Beach. You will have to request the same time each evening in the same DR on the Dine My Way program. Believe you have to wait until final payment to do this. Someone else can comment on this point. I would then speak with the head waiter once on board to discuss your preferences so you both have an understanding.
  11. Yes, true. For many years, probably more than a decade, chemical dry cleaning has been eliminated. They do dry clean (no water) using other methods.
  12. OP referred to the Sky. On the Sky port & starboard "premium" deluxe balcony cabins, cat D4, do have larger balconies. Aft facing "premium" deluxe balcony cabins have various size balconies depending on the deck. There are a few non premium deluxe balcony cabins with larger angled balconies. You will find these on decks 8& 9. Across the fleet balcony size is not the only determining factor Princess uses to classify a cabin "premium." To repeat an important point. The word "premium" does not mean that the cabin's interior or the cabin's amenities are any different than cabins in the same basic category M, D, or B. You have to check out the deck plans deck by deck.
  13. Helsinki - It's far to market square, maybe 15 minute bus ride. We took the local shuttle. RT tickets were sold at the pier, something around 5 euros. Tallin - It is possible to walk, but fairly far. Suggest a taxi into town which is up on a hill. Warnemunde - Depends where you dock. In one location the chartered trains to Berlin are right on the pier. You can also walk right into the small town of Warnemunde and to the beach. You can also take a train over to Rostock. The other location is across the harbor. You will have to take transportation to get anywhere.
  14. When you exit the ship you will find a row of tents where they are offering tours. If you want a golf cart suggest you reserve on line in advance. If you want water activities they are available. There is also a nice area to walk around. Are you there for 1/2 day or full day? One time when we were docked for a full day we took the golf cart, did the south route, stopped for lunch and then back to the ship. Really nice day. Bring water.
  15. On Royal class ships there are deluxe balcony category cabins and there are balcony category cabins. With few exceptions all deluxe balcony cat. cabins have the same interiors. Also with few exceptions all balcony cat. cabins have the same interiors. Deluxe balcony cabins are slightly larger than balcony cat cabins and they have a 2 seat sofa. Now the word "premium." This generally means a better location as defined by Princess. It can be more mid ship, aft facing, and in many cases, not all, a larger balcony. There are "premium" cabins in both the deluxe balcony cats. and the balcony cats.
  16. Do you have the plus fare or the premium fare? If so then unlimited brewed coffee is included. Order from the app or from the TV. I guess you are on the Island Princess, no I.C., but they still have specialty coffees and brewed coffees.
  17. Is it a cruise that is sold as both a 7 & 14 day or a 10 and 20 day? If so the cabin may be reserved for those on the trip you are not booking.
  18. In Bonaire I recommend Bonairecruisers golf cart rental. You can tour at your own pace and see all the same sites as the organized trips see. Warning about Curacao. From the main section of town you have to cross the pontoon bridge to return to the ship The bridge swings open to allow boats to pass, and there are frequent boats. Make certain you leave enough time to return to the ship. When the bridge is open there is a ferry, but that can take time if your time is very short.
  19. Royal Class ships use a ground coffee in the DR, Buffet and for room service. Grand Class and the Coral & Island still use the liquid coffee concentrate, what you call syrup. If you have the plus or premier fare or the coffee package then you can order the brewed coffee from the I.C. at no extra charge. Otherwise there is a charge.
  20. I do not use a walker but have been on tenders many, many times. You have to be able to walk somewhat while stabilizing yourself with the staff helpers. When getting on/off the tender at the ship's pontoon the tender may move up & down plus in & out moving with the sea while the ship can remain fairly stable. There are always staff there to assist with stability while entering the tender and assisting to the seats. Most of the ship's tenders have their seating on a different level than the entrance to the tender. Once on the tender you have to be able to handle a few stairs to get to the seats. The walker would be taken and stored while you are on the tender. I believe that it is fairly easy to exit the dock in Belize City once off the tender.
  21. Laundry. No limits. The full suite benefits used to state "same day" or "next day laundry." The wording "same day" or "next day" no longer shows.
  22. Don't miss the special breakfast each morning. It's one of the top benefits. Way better than room service. Breakfast prepared to order. Order whatever you want, not just the menu items. If they have the ingredients it will be prepared for you.
  23. Your account(s) begin with a credit balance (OBC). On board expenses are added as incurred and net against the accounts. Non-refundable OBC is used first, then refundable OBC. If at the end of the cruise you have a credit balance any amounts associated with refundable OBC will be refunded to you.
  24. One of the best benefits for a full suite passenger is the special full suite breakfast served in one of the specialty restaurants. On the Sky, believe it is Sabatini's. Breakfast is prepared to order. You can order whatever you want, not just what is on the menu. If they have the ingredients it will be prepared for you. If they don't have the ingredients they may be able to get them for the next morning. It is so much better than room service and club class or any other dining location. There will be information in your cabin when you board. Don't miss it. Don't forget that you can have Club Class dining for the evening meal each day and for lunch on sea days.
  25. Shareholder's benefit is non refundable
