  1. Yes, sometimes there are things like trivia being held.
  2. Ft. Lauderdale has a similar short distance. Around 4 miles, 15 minutes, maybe a little more with traffic.
  3. There is nothing scheduled after the Diamond departs in February 2023. On the other hand, there are cruises scheduled from L.A. until May 2024. I would speculate that the chances are slim for San Diego.
  4. Try calling Prime Time Shuttles. They usually run group service from the pier to LAX. Negative is that they may stop along the way.
  5. . If it shows on your Princess documents/files you can use it to pre-book excursions
  6. It is ok. There is a menu, but you can order other standard items like scrambled eggs with bacon, cheese omelet. In my morning routine it just takes too much time, maybe an hour, when I would like to be doing other things. If you want a condiment, for example tabasco sauce or ketchup, order it first when you order the meal. Don't wait until your meal is served, it may never come. Fresh made to order omelets are available at the buffet. Way quicker and you get them right after they are prepared.
  7. Not always. Many times TAs form groups and with those groups comes OBC. This OBC is provided by Princess through the TA when they form the group. It is not refundable. TAs may also use their points to provide benefits to certain customers from a menu of options. These benefits may include OBC which I believe is not refundable.
  8. Yes. If you remain in the same cabin just leave all your stuff in the cabin like a regular day. The cabin steward will clean as normal.
  9. Adding. You might look into flying out of John Wayne airport. Not as crowded and less road traffic.
  10. We found that due to the 3 hour time change when flying from the west coast back to the east coast it was best for us to stay overnight at a hotel near the airport. It was more relaxing. We booked a morning flight which arrived on the east coast late afternoon. You might wish to think about this option. Your timing is close to possible if nothing goes wrong. It is also a plus if disembark is on the weekend with less traffic.
  11. Around 30 cruises as an elite. Yes there is priority tendering ship to shore. It is accomplished different ways depending on the ship and port. a) meet in separate location. staff member advises when you can go to the pontoon b) meet with everyone else, but get into a separate line which pretty much goes fairly quickly c) just show your ID and walk down to the tender. This is the least used. At all ports shore to ship is just get into a line. At some point in the morning tender tickets are no longer required and everyone can just walk to the tender.
  12. You will receive detailed information in your cabin. Follow it exactly. You have two choices. a) disembark go into town. You will pass through immigration. Re-board once general boarding has begun. Carry your passport and intransit card (supplied on the ship), and medallion with you. b) Stay on board and meet in the designated location at the designated time, normally around 9:30/10:00am. Bring you passport and medallion with you. The group will be escorted off the ship and through immigration. Once ALL passengers have disembarked your group will be allowed to re-board. You will probably have to change cabins. Speak with your cabin steward in advance. Speak with your new cabin steward in advance. Place as many items as possible on hangers and hang in the closet. Place the rest in your luggage. Clean out your safe. Leave all the stuff in your closet and your luggage in your cabin. The staff will move them. You may be able to place your valuables in your new cabin safe once the cabin is cleared, sometime after 8am. If the cabins are close you may be able to move the luggage yourself. Remember you must go through the immigration procedure either a) or b). No exceptions.
  13. I would think there would be quite a lot of foot traffic during the day from the pool area to the stairs/elevator. I remember on the Royal going in this way. Believe the entrance from the deck is an automatic door.
  14. Basically if you book or add the plus fare it takes on average between two & three alcoholic drinks per person per day to break even depending on how many of the unlimited specialty coffees, sodas, waters etc you consume each day. With the plus fare you also receive unlimited internet (wifi is really free) as well as the daily gratuities. As mentioned platinum & elites no longer receive free internet minutes.
  15. There are also instructions on where to obtain your tender tickets. It is 1st come 1st served, unless you have priority as an elite or a passenger in a full suite that have separate instructions.
  16. I can't believe that this announcement is a positive marketing tool. Do passengers really care who is operating the fitness center? Better marketing announcement would be to just say what the fitness experience will be like in the future. What is no charge and what is offered at an extra cost.
  17. "For family groups booking multiple staterooms, the minimum age for at least one person in each stateroom is 16 years of age, provided they are traveling with a parent or legal guardian. " Assume you are a family group and you are the one booking. Are you the only person over 16 years old? If not place the other 16+ year old in one cabin and you in the other. Once on board just change cabin occupants around.
  18. Does this mean that there will be a charge to use the fitness center, or just certain group sessions?
  19. In addition to the previous posting each kind of OBC is be subject to certain rules. Military benefit is per qualified person up to two per cabin. Shareholder's benefit is one per cabin even if all occupants individually own Carnival stock. TA OBC is normally applied by the TA per person. Princess promo OBC is per qualified person per the terms and conditions of the offer.
  20. You can use OBC pre-cruise to purchase excursions. Unless things have changed recently you are not able to use OBC pre-cruise to purchase specialty dining. You must wait until you are on board. Some people have reported that they purchased specialty dining pre-cruise which was charged to their credit card, then once on board they visited passenger services to cancel the charge and have it charged to their on board account.
  21. Mini suite cabin does not have any special lounge amenity. Only passengers in full suites have access to the concierge lounge, and only Royal Class ships have this lounge. The Platinum/Elite/Full Suite "lounge" is just a few hour cocktail gathering from about 5pm until 7pm most evenings, which is dinner time for early diners. They serve some lower priced cocktails, full priced drinks and selections of snacks. If you have one of the beverage inclusive fares drinks are included or charged according to the terms of the fare. On the Discovery expect the event is in the Vista Lounge. It's the only location large enough. We seldom attend. Don't feel it is anything special.
  22. For the stand alone coffee package if you are on b2bs any unused specialty coffee drinks remain on your accounts and carry over. The free brewed coffee, hot chocolate and tea benefit does not carry over. Of course if you have a plus or premier fare then you have unlimited specialty and brewed coffees and you do not require a stand alone package.
  23. "Chef’s Table* Caribbean, Coral, Crown, Diamond, Emerald, Grand, Island, Ruby, Sapphire Princess Fine Dining Event N/A N/A Onboard reservations accepted only $95 per person with wine $80 per person without Chef’s Table Lumiere** Discovery, Enchanted, Majestic, Regal, Royal, Sky Princess Fine Dining Event N/A N/A Onboard reservations accepted only $115 per person with wine $100 per person without"
  24. This is not the norm. Personally have never seen this, but guess it happens.
  25. This has happened to us with men's pants on board. But, it has also happened to us at home. Closing the zipper and pants seems to prevent zipper damage.
