  1. Aloha. We have found aft vibration noticeable on the Zuiderdam and on several Celebrity ships. Never on the QM2 or Crystal. Question for you…what do your children think about you being away from them for months on end. When we travel for more than a month or so or when we spend more than a month or two in Hawaii we miss each other tremendously. We may fly to New York for a week or so to see them then fly back. Smooth sailing.
  2. Congratulations enjoy the rest of your cruise!
  3. So happy to hear this news! May he recover fully and blessings prayers and love for you and your family!
  4. Aloha. Thank you for posting. glad you took me up on my suggestion to visit Longs Drugs for souvenirs and general shopping. I have a question. We took a princess cruise from our home in Honolulu to the South Pacific and stopped along the way on Kiribati. Are you also doing so or just going straight to French Polynesia? Kiribati is really like a Gilligans Island and the people were lovely. Hawaiian flies to Papeete from Honolulu and we have in the past availed ourselves of the convenience for a few days. Smooth sailing!
  5. Thank you for your posts and pictures. Just my opinion but what is the big deal with the masks? I would be more concerned about no masks. I have been blessed to have traveled the world and sailed on countless cruises. As for me I won’t risk getting covid on a ship and risk being quarantined. That said, many cruisers have not been as fortunate and take the risk. Nevertheless keep the pictures and food pictures coming and smooth and safe sailing! Enjoy.
  6. Aloha! Enjoying your posts. We divide our time between New York and Honolulu approximately every two months for a moth or so at a time. If we do a staycation in Waikiki we stay at the Halekulani where House without a Key is located. Recently they have been requiring reservations even for drinks on the patio area where the music is and they just serve pu pu along with drinks. I would suggest calling them in advance to double check. By the way its a great hotel. We have done staycations there for about 15 years. We do the same thing in New York. Its kind fun! Smooth sailing.
  7. For those that stay at the Hale Koa Mahalo for your service. The rebuild over the past few years has been spectacular and well deserved for those that put their loves on the line for our great country!
  8. I love your food pictures and admire you but this is why after all my cruises and having been blessed to have seen the world i’m tired of the mainstream ships with thousands of people especially from my hometown of New York. Im tired of them in New York and don't want to see them on a vacation. Only my opinion. Caring for my 89 year old mom with dementia but hopefully will spend our life in Hawaii not that the state doesn’t have its issues too. That said I love your posts and food pictures and thank you for posting! You are tops in my book. Mahalo!
  9. Aloha! Hilo Hattie filed for bankruptcy a few years ago but I do not know who owns them now. Tourists flock to ABC stores as the go to. I personally don’t understand why people go to Walmart on the islands but they do a big business with tourists. Additionally Longs Drugs which is owned by CVS has a great gift selection which I find their prices are competitive.
  10. Aloha. When we fly for a weekend to Maui we fly into Kahalui and rent a car for the drive to Lahaina. We generally stay in Wailea as Kanapaali is the older resort area. If you have the opportunity please try in a local restaurant a Loco Moco. You can have it for breakfast lunch or dinner. Its rice with a hamburger patty and fried egg with brown gravy. Absolutely delicious. I make it at home. enjoy!
  11. Aloha. Glad you are enjoying our home! Yes CVS owns Longs and it is very convenient for us as we can pick up needed prescriptions in either NY or Hawaii. Its interesting you like CPK whilst on vacation as opposed to local eateries that are not tourist traps as I have a whole list of them near to the pier. For example the Cheesecake Factory on Kalakaua is extremely popular with visitors from the mainland but to each his own. I love reading your well prepared reports wish you both good health and smooth sailing! Mahalo
  12. oldTymeCruiser is so right. Happy to offer suggestions. By the way, we have sailed on the ZDam several times. My first HAL was on the Statendam in 1976. Many others since. Have a great voyage and smooth sailing .
  13. We love your daily posts! Dividing our time between New York and Honolulu it seems that Walmart is a popular tourist destination on every island lol. Hilo gets a tremendous amount of rain but is an enjoyable place to visit. Glad you are visiting the islands. Mahalo once again for your posts!
  14. Thank you for your posts and especially the food pictures! Love princess and wish you smooth sailing.
  15. Benny…First and foremost thank you for the food pictures! Have been to the caribbean tons of times both by land and sea but never to Roatan. I take your advice seriously and would like to inquire whats going on there that you advise not walking into town. Thank you and smooth sailing.
  16. Thank you as always for taking the time to post as often as you do and of course all those food pictures. Have a safe, smooth and enjoyable voyage.
