  1. Oops typo. It was my parents 50th anniversary i was referring to. Sorry!
  2. Aloha. We love Celebrity having sailed countless times with them including their first ship the Meridian. We enjoy having sailed countless times on other lines as well with some better experiences than others. That said, I would recommend sailing a TA on the QM2. We have sailed on many Cunard ships for several decades and strongly suggest you try at least one TA. Their Queens Grill is a must experience. Back in 2004 her inaugural year, we celebrated my 50 the with anniversary with a sailing with 60 family members. It was much better than a one night event in a catering hall and fond memories for family and friends who joined them. Unfortunately many are no longer with us including my dad and mom now has dementia but the experience was loved by many. Didn’t mean to hijack your thread but I would really think about it. Open for questions if you have. All the best and smooth sailing!
  3. Aloha. Thank you for sharing your voyage. Have a wonderful holiday season and new year!
  4. Aloha. Congratulations on the upgrade. By the way I emailed you a while back to check on the results of your eye surgery. I am thinking it was successful. Best regards!
  5. Aloha. Most grateful for the pictures. Have a wonderful holiday season!
  6. That was an excellent tour. My daughter loved the penguins and we went to the home of a family who served tea and baked goods. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Due to weather and sea conditions not every ship is able to dock and the visit is often cancelled.
  7. Aloha. We sailed over Christmas New Year 2008 2009 and it was rough but no more rough than the Bay of Biscay and transatlantic. We were fortunate because my parents sailed a year later and it was so rough the shops on board were messed up. Liquor bottles flew thru the shop windows. As with anything it depends on the moment and is certified unpredictable.
  8. Aloha. Great as always to read your posts and of course the food pictures. Hope your eye surgery went well and that you are having a fabulous time. all the best!
  9. Aloha. Yes…I noticed Benny has not been posting as often as he used to. I think technology on Disney and his previous cruise on NCL has been the cause. i know we all love and enjoy his remarkable posts and thank him for spending the time he does to share his voyages with us. Wishing him well and a smooth voyage!
  10. Yes You are correct it was in 2008-2009. I appreciate your input as I did not know this. I am reading with interest this thread but sad that someone died and others were injured. Thank you again!
  11. Aloha. We have cruised the drake passage but on Princess. The Princess ship was much larger with a higher line of steel. Cruised over Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years and passed through the Drake Passage. My parents did the same cruise on Holland America. It was rough. While not a naval architect I think Viking should have used one of their larger ships as in hindsight they should have known the risk. Prayers for those impacted and especially for the lady who died and her family.
  12. We have have sailed the Drake Passage and it was rough. Blessings and prayers to everyone affected.
  13. Aloha…I second that. Never use the horn!
  14. Aloha. Thank you so much for taking the time to post. have a wonderful holiday season. We love Celebrity and can tell you do too! All the best.
  15. Aloha. Sailing into..Venice. Cruising…South Pacific; Escargot, Prime Rib, Beef Wellington; Tuxedo. Smooth Sailing
  16. Aloha. Have a great and safe trip. Always enjoy your posts. As always if you can…ford pictures lol!
  17. Two different cruise lines, two different experiences, two different passenger makeups. One is more energetic but then prone to more drinking, arguments and basically rudeness. The other is more laid back. Not to say there are no bozos on Princess. It is a matter of personal choice. As for me I believe my Carnival days are over as are my days on large mainstream cruiselines. I am starting to migrate towards smaller ships as I get older lol. Whatever choice you make, please keep us posted and smooth sailing!
  18. Words cannot express my sorrow for your loss and I pray for you and your family
  19. Aloha. I think you made an excellent choice plus looking forward to your reports and of course food pictures on the Venezia. Sailed with Costa years ago and of course Carnival. Im sure your reports will be excellent. What ship for Thanksgiving? All the best and Happy Thanksgiving and remember… lots of pictures lol! Thank you.
