  1. Aloha. When it comes to Egypt I have a few thoughts if I may. We did not take a large ship voyage. Rather we flew to Cairo for a few days toured, saw King Tuts tomb etc and then a several days Nile River Cruise. All in all a 14 day immersive vacation. My thoughts are that I would be concerned to take a private tour in Egypt because anything can go wrong and if there is a delay in the return to the ship, it can be an issue of course. If you take the ships tour you are protected in case of delays. Perhaps in other countries or cities a self arranged tour would be ok but I would have reservations about Egypt. All in all the people are wonderful, the sites are priceless to see and it is a wonderful experience. Enjoy!
  2. Aloha. We have been blessed to sail HAL since the 1970s and since the 1990’s in Neptune Suites. I always choose a Neptune suite in the same deck as the lounge and never a problem with the size nor amenities. Once we had wraparound aft and also enjoyed it. Never disappointed except no more yum yum man in the dining room lobby anymore! Sometimes it is the little amenities that i like lol! Enjoy.
  3. Aloha. We have not visited South Georgia but were blessed to visit the Falklands. It certainly is a once in a lifetime experience and if you can visit, it is strongly recommended.
  4. Aloha. I agree. There is an ulterior business reason for this. Yes guest satisfaction and economy of scale is extremely important but so is the ability to shed companies if necessary. Of course that would also depend on the agreements they have with lenders regarding assets.
  5. Aloha. Blessings to Roselle at 90! We too have countless certificates from the wold over which brings back great memories! Enjoy.
  6. Aloha. Thank you for your post. He was supposed to be sailing January also which is why I became concerned. Mahalo
  7. Aloha. Yes. I hope I can say this but i am wondering if he was an influencer given the volume of his travels, his various ships, and numerous photos and posts. It just seems so weird that he stopped posing suddenly even though he stated that he had upcoming voyages. I truly believe that many of us on CC become like a little family online and it provides enjoyable and refreshing respite from the hectic world we all love in.
  8. Aloha. Thank you! All the best
  9. Aloha. Still no word. Very unusual. I worry whenever regular contributors don’t post. I have read about a few on other boards that are absent and it is just my personality to care. Too bad no one knows his contact information. Anyway all the best to my fellow CC members and to BennyBrun!
  10. Aloha. Many thanks for delivering best wishes to Bill and Maryann and to Rich. Best to you too!
  11. Aloha. Enjoying your posts and pictures. We have been blessed to have sailed on the Zdam and also to have visited the ports on your voyage. Please say hello if you know them to Bill and Maryann and to Rich who are also posting. By the way…love the tuxedos. It is the only way to sail the seven seas!
  12. A blessed Happy Birthday. We always take a month long vacay in August to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our anniversary. Drives her nuts lol because we have celebrated around the world and she does not like it! Anyway its been going on for decades, Enjoy and treasure!
  13. Aloha. In my opinion it is a conundrum for cruise addicts such as us. I have substantial cruise line stock and have been blessed to have traveled the world by ship and air. Now we divide our time between NY and Honolulu so cruising is not a priority but I want the lines to succeed because now we choose a line and the ship with itinerary a tertiary thought. That said I would consider what I glean from CC regarding food, portion size, staffing etc. For example I love prime rib and escargot. Both of which I can get at local restaurants but their is something magical on a ship. As for lobster…same. I can see charging for the third tail to discourage waste but not for the second. As for HAL, my daughter grew up looking forward to the yum yum man after dinner. Sometimes little things matter. Newbies may not know how it used to be. Certainly I understand cutbacks are necessary but in our situation I just won’t sail. That is my opinion but I do believe at some point the number crunchers and the banks have to arrive at a middle point. Probably not though. Sad. Will we sail again? Hopefully. With my tuxedo lol! All the best .
  14. Aloha. Sorry about the cancellation. We were blessed to visit the Falklands and see the penguins and this very unique place but my parents went a few weeks later and their visit was cancelled. Unfortunately this is not uncommon.
  15. Aloha. Do agree as we have been blessed to have sailed on the QE2 prior to Carnival and several times on the QM2. That said there something magical of a transatlantic voyage. All the best!
  16. Aloha. Thank you for your posts and pictures! We enjoyed our South America, Antarctica and Falklands Voyage and hope you enjoy yours and your itinerary. Thank you for sharing
  17. Aloha. A positioning TA is magical but if I may suggest a QM2 TA which really brings back the days of yesteryear!
  18. Aloha. We loved our South America, Antarctica and Falkland Islands cruise and hope smooth sailing for all!
  19. Aloha Charla. I echo the chorus of fans who love your posts, wit, sense of humor and as a fellow lawyer enjoy the ribbing lol. We travel like you do and have been doing so for decades as perhaps we may be older than you lol. We are top tier on most major lines and have been blessed to have seen the world. Your reports candidly describe the differences between different cabin categories and allow the reader insight so as to help them decide what is individually important for them. I enjoy concierge lounges in hotels and on board. The little extra touches are worth it although when I travel back and forth to Hawaii every two months for two months its coach lol. Certain expenses are just not worth it. You don’t brag. You work hard and deserve what you have worked for. There is a couple unnamed of course on a world cruise that brags all the time of their perks as a the highest tier member and demands special recognition and separate lines and treatment. Unfortunately after being on CC since 2002 I was compelled to block them. If i were on the ship with them i would be curious to see how they treat the staff and fellow passengers and vice versa. As for you, your posts are loved by all and I thank your for your graciousness and look forward to meeting you and hopefully one day the Mrs. and I can join you for a cocktail! Keep on sailing the smooth seas and keep the food pictures coming lol. All blessings!
