  1. One thing on Princess that was confusing, was food options in the atrium. Like pastries etc in a single case where some were free and some had a charge. In general trying to get a straight forward answer had us feeling like we were playing Who's on First, What's on Second with interactions. Example: In the atrium on the ship they had a wine bar. We were walking by on a sea day and saw them putting sushi in a case, so walked over to see if DH could get some... convo went something like this: How much is the sushi? It's free ok - we would like some oh, it's only free when you buy wine ok - how much is a glass of wine? we're not open yet, you'll have to come back. 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, might talk to kids about asking if what they want has a charge, for example if you set them a limit for the day.
  2. thank you. Since I haven't cruised lately, I didn't know this was an option. Sounds like a new option added, that's a good idea, but they didn't think about the venue charge part(i.e. downstream impacts) They could either provide a warning that if you use this option, you could be assigned a venue with a charge due to # times you've dined, provide you an option to build your own list of venues, or the app could go check to see how many times each person has eaten at each restaurant and then exclude duplicate dining from your options.... which could be more complex and take longer to code when you add in things like a group that's dined separately, etc. 🙄probably way more geeky answer than requested... Perfect thing to mention to John H on the book of faces, so that they can have IT dept address.
  3. The points to dollars amount is best when applying them towards paying for your Carnival cruise or onboard spending. as others have said - I wait until we return from cruise, where I have had everything from S&S card and the cruise itself, charged to the Carnival Barclay card...then apply all those points to pay for Carnival charges. You will do this on the Barclay site. You can use them to pay for certain other charges on your statement, but return is best on Carnival line items.
  4. following along...off to a good start. I have family stationed at Keesler AFB so wave as you go back by 😉
  5. Exactly what i was thinking! $35 for the week, to check in due some family heath issues each day, via the book of faces, was worth it. At over $100 for a 7 day cruise...we'll go back to living unplugged from the world for the week.
  6. but... I think i have read in reviews that if you are platinum they can board early with you and that you can bring them as a guest to the special party, right?
  7. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. 🙏
  8. I enjoyed your review! thanks for taking the time to write an UN boring review.... and making me smile
  9. try searching here for your service dog questions:
  10. I'm sure they meant S2S = Side-2-Side. It's 2 trips on different ships with turn around on the same day. @hockeyluver I'm not sure why your SIL thinks they would not be allowed to board. Are they arriving back from their other cruise to a terminal in another city, or some other reason she concerned they won't have time to transfer over to your ship, before boarding closes? There are lots of message strings on here about people arriving separately. Folks cruise together that travel from different locations and meet up on the ship all the time. I think you just need to tell check in clerk that they are arriving separately to join you on the ship.
  11. so then do you just apply the money from the cart at a kiosk, throughout the cruise, as you spend?
  12. so you don't recommend the Italian Restaurant on the Italian style ship? well that's sad...one would assume extra effort would be made for it to be excellent 😞
  13. Saint Greg touched on it...but just to be sure you noticed the point... Might be a captain obvious point but - on days you are in ports, you won't be using the Cheers pkg drinks while off the ship....even if you are at one of the private islands. so factor that in, when determining if it's worth it.
  14. Also, when you go thru the booking process and get to the point where it gives you like 3 price options, you can usually expand that page to show more types of offers. I think Guarantee is usually a default to show, but you never know...
  15. I believe the best response I've seen one of the times this topic was discussed before was: "We are traveling separately" because it's true.. very, separately...like different areas of the country separately 😉
  16. oh no! hopefully they don't drop you, it's hard to find a good ferrier... plus this pretty girl would probably have to test the new one even more... they're like kids with a substitute teacher lol
  17. Right!!!! Doesn't seem like new sailings - just future dates for rinse/repeat ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  18. another vote for either Family Harbor or Cove Balcony. We didn't start cruising until our kids were older, but I've seen several reviews or comments from others saying it's nice to be able to put the littles to bed, then the adults sit out on the balcony and enjoy the the ocean. To this point, an interior will be just like being at a hotel...and the rooms are smaller than a hotel.
  19. Enjoyed you taking us along on your & W's adventure... look forward to the next one!
  20. so is there a special story behind these buildings? Does the pyramid serve as a daytime light house?
  21. First time I've seen this tip! so you can do just that part of check-in and it will save for you? cool!
  22. we had a door like this near us on Conquest years ago when we were in a corner ocean view room. when they had the in-person muster drill, it was propped open and there was a metal staircase inside that led us directly up to our muster station.
  23. right! most I've seen since pre-covid for sure! good job fellow cruisers!
  24. I agree - Best to call right away and explore your options directly with Carnival. One option would be to ask to move to a cruise on a later date, when he's sure he can go.... there would be a penalty at this point. Sometimes it can be as little as $50 per person...depending on what 'rate' you booked under.
