  1. 1. You don't have a guarantee that you will get a table for 2 with fixed dining. Upon embarkation, you can request the maitre d' to assign you to one, but no guarantees. If available, you could also switch to Your Time Dining and request a private table each time you check in. 2. Yes, there are reasonably priced wine packages. I believe there are more details on the Carnival website. 3. I don't have experience with the thermal suites. There might be info on the Carnival website. 4. Unlimited laundry is not free unless you are Diamond level. I believe laundry is available for a price per bag, but I am not sure what that is.
  2. I wouldn't characterize them as drunk fests. Sure there are people drinking, but there are more people dancing. I would even consider this event to be family friendly. It's also pretty crowded, so if you really want to get your drink on, you will probably go to other bars than those on the Lido deck.
  3. That's what I am wondering. Is it worth all this sturm and drang and hours on the phone for the amount of savings you might get? I usually do all my price research before I book anything. And if there are "identical" tours and Carnival's tour price is in the same ballpark, I book through Carnival because of the ease of finding the tour meetup spot and the guarantee that the ship won't leave without me.
  4. I like the Glory as well. I was making a joke about the typo. 🙃
  5. I bet that ship has some terrible reviews.
  6. Yes, that revenue would not be reported at the consolidated level - but my point is that there are really no "free" rooms to begin with. Ships sail full, and someone is paying for all of those rooms, whether it is the passenger or the casino.
  7. They probably get some sort of volume discount, but they aren't going to sell a cabin for to the casino for $1000 when a regular customer is willing to pay a multiple of that. And who is to say that the cruise line doesn't make the casino pay for no-shows, just like they do for regular customers?
  8. Very few cabins have ever been given away as completely "free". Most, if not substantially all "free" cabins are casino-related, and the casino business is a separate arm of Carnival Corporation, If Carnival Corp does its accounting the way that most multi-company corporations do, the casino company "pays" the individual cruise line for the cabins they comp to gamblers. And if fares are going up, each individual cruise line is going to charge the casino company more for those "free" cabins. Why wouldn't they? If they can get $3000 from a paying customer for that balcony cabin, they aren't going sell it to the casino for substantially less. Now, if the casino balks at paying a higher price because they don't think they will make it up on gaming revenue, that might indeed mean that there are fewer "free" cabins. But especially in time of raising fares, the individual cruise line is going to take full advantage of the higher demand one way or another.
  9. I have seen meetups for 18-20 year olds listed in the Fun Times on at least one of the cruises I have taken this year. I don't know if they have them on every cruise.
  10. The way I do it is I only have FB friends who are my friends IRL, and I don't mind them knowing that I am out of town,
  11. Over the long run, there is no money to be made on any casino game.
  12. The new compensation structure for airlines wasn't a guideline, it was a change in federal law. The airlines are paying out the compensation because they are legally required to do so. And if I am not mistaken, it mostly (or only)applies when the delay is the airline's fault (mechanical issues, lack of crew, etc.), as opposed to, say, posting your flight confirmation number on social media.
  13. As a general rule, it's illegal for gift cards of any kind to expire.
  14. If people choose to live their lives in fear -- I guess you can't stop that. But IMO life is too short to worry about things that have less than one in a million chance of happening, especially if one takes the most basic of precautions. I can't find the post anymore, but I remember a few years back that a woman was upset about the layout of the Lido buffet because there was no table where her son was still in her line of sight if he went to get food on his own - and her son was a normal, healthy 15-year-old. And people wonder why cases of anxiety have skyrocketed in children.
  15. I have done the London one and I recommend it.
  16. It would still be better to get an answer straight from the company. Even if someone has first hand experience, things might have changed since then. I wouldn't make an important medical decision based on "someone on the internet told me...."
  17. Why not just sign up for YTD if you want to plan around the shows you want to watch?
  18. Don't forget that those airline points are real money, just like paying cash is. You may not have "paid" for them, but losing them would be basically the same as a forfeiting a nonrefundable airfare.
  19. Maybe an attorney did tell her that and she is ignoring it. I don't think anyone is accusing her of being smart.
  20. I really liked Il Viaggio. It is more Northern Italian in cuisine, so there will be fewer red sauce dishes. The vibe is more upscale than Cuchina del Capitano. I saw a post recently where someone complained that it wasn't a "real" Italian restaurant because there is no spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna on the menu. If that is your idea of Italian, you may be disappointed in Il Viaggio. Here is a link to the menu: https://www.carnival.com/-/media/images/explore/dining/menus/il-viaggio-menu.pdf
  21. My guess is the supply issues occurred because there were so many port days that ended up being sea days. People eat and drink more on ships on a sea Day,
  22. Except that every media post mentions what an idiot she was for putting herself in a position to have this happen. If my Chevy was stolen because I left the keys in it and the motor running, and I got on TikTok saying that Chevrolet owes me because it was too easy to steal my car, do you think Chevrolet is going to give me money? Honestly, I think the main reasons this got so much traction is that the media is treating it as a) a cautionary tale an b) an entertaining story due to the ridiculous woman telling it.
  23. And what makes you assume that the TikTok user is telling the truth? It may be firsthand info, but I don't believe it's been confirmed. I honestly hope for its own sake that Carnival sticks to its guns. The public reaction seems to be in Carnival's favor. Carnival knows what bad publicity is (remember the poop cruise?) and this isn't it.
  24. I suppose you could steal some some packets from the last fast food place you eat at before you board the ship. 😀 Personally, I don't have a dog in this fight. In my family, we don't eat much ketchup. I only have it on hand for recipes and guests. I recently had to throw out my partial bottle because it had expired - and I think the expiration date is a year or two after it is manufactured.
