  1. I’ll be following as well…flurries here this morning so a reminder of our same cruise is perfect timing! Hope you enjoyed as much as we did last month! 🥂
  2. Good luck with Napier, such a shame if you have to miss but lots of road closures in the area and around the port itself so wouldn’t be surprised if you have an extra sea day there. My son is a vineyard manager on the South Island and the weather is affecting the grape harvest, definitely can’t rely on stable weather this time of the season.
  3. Following as well. We did this same itinerary (the 10 night) in Feb and had a great time. We were also on the Eclipse with you back in September! Hope you get to do the snorkel excursion to Buck Island…Celebrity cancelled us the night before, said the tour company canceled due to high winds and rip currents. We were very disappointed as we’d been looking forward to this excursion since we’d booked. Maybe have an alternate planned for that day in case the same happens to you. Otherwise, the ship was great and the crew were all so friendly and helpful. I’m sure you’ll have a great time!
  4. I love visiting NZ and Sydney is one of our favourite cities, hope you have a wonderful and smooth journey, getting late in the season down under so I hope the weather cooperates and the seas are smooth. Eclipse is a lovely ship, will you be trying the hot glass? I really enjoyed on our Alaska cruise in September. What is your itinerary? Any excursions planned?
  5. That’s what it was on Silhouette last month. We booked with only $100 pp and that was in Canadian funds…good deal, plus they had a promo of an extra $400 in obc for 10 plus nights so we’ll have $600 total.
  6. Doesn’t your cabin number show up on the display of the offending partners phone? Otherwise, good idea!
  7. On the Silhouette last month they were charging $3 over the classic package for Villa Maria, which is my go to on the ships as I don’t fancy the Chilean SB which is included in the classic. I was a little confused as the various menus and app showed either $11 or $12 for VM. Inquired at GR as to the correct price and was told $13 (so $3 over classic limit) but they couldn’t explain why not one menu on the ship listed it as that price. We had lots of obc to pay for overages but it’s the principal…why charge a higher price than what’s advertised everywhere on the ship. Could understand if the printed menus needed time to be updated to the higher fee but that doesn’t explain why the app wasn’t updated. Ultimately I was happy as they had plenty of bottles and many times I wasn’t charged extra at all. 🤷‍♀️
  8. Weird, we saw people playing bocce on the lawn on Silhouette in February…maybe they brought their own? 🤷‍♀️
  9. Seems like just yesterday I was reading about you and Jeremy on a cruise and here you are ready to head off again, this time with sweet GenZ. I’m sure you’ll both have a wonderful time making endless memories. She is certainly a very lucky girl! Thank you so much for taking precious time to keep the rest of us sailing, even if vicariously! 🚢 🥂
  10. Absolutely agree…fortunately the family have it so it worked for us. Something for future cruisers to think about if they think they may need to keep in touch with family or friends while away. Easy to download the app and use. Obviously wouldn’t be practical for work purposes. I no longer personally use Facebook but WhatsApp is handy when traveling and wanting ti actually speak to family and not just send an imessage.
  11. It actually is, as I stated in a previous post on this thread we were on Silhouette just a few weeks ago, party of four, all on basic plan and were able to make WhatsApp calls back and forth to Canada as well as send and receive emails, browse the internet and check in on CC. The app worked well for messaging to each other, I received a vibration on my Apple watch each time I received a new message which was helpful. Obviously this reception varies ship to ship as well as varying itineraries but we are proof that it actually is possible on at least Silhouette. So there’s hope for the OP.
  12. No additional charge on either end, keep in mind both parties need to have the app and access to wifi. Works on IPhone as well as android.
  13. We’ve just recently begun playing and would love to try on a ship. Too bad our next booking is on Silhouette 🥲. Might have to book something on one of the included ships to check it out! Any excuse to cruise eh? 🤣
  14. On the Silhouette at least, the basic enabled us to send and receive emails, read cruise critic and browse the web. Very different than our experience on Eclipse in September where the basic wifi was pretty useless. Not sure why the different experiences other than perhaps location (we were in Alaska in September) or different ships are connected differently? 🤷‍♀️
  15. We were on Silhouette just a few weeks ago with basic wifi and my sister was able to make calls using WhatsApp.
  16. While the cameras will capture all the parties in the hot tub they won’t prove that the other passenger verbally threatened the OP, unless there’s very good audio recording as well.
  17. Agree, however proving it may be difficult. Don’t understand parents who take a baby/toddler into a hot tub, especially a public one…so unsafe and unhealthy. And they’ll prob blame the cruise line when their child comes down with a serious oral or ear infection in a few days 🙄🤒
  18. Happy Anniversary! Hope you enjoy a wonderful day and a delicious dinner at Murano. Thank you again for keeping us posted on your extended travels! 🚢 🍸
  19. On Eclipse in Alaska in September we had basic and couldn’t access CC, even to view much less post. Was able to retrieve emails and iMessages so no big deal for us. Assumed the same would be true for our recent sail on Silhouette in the Caribbean however the basic wifi worked much better, able to access CC, read and post as well as use WhatsApp for calls and browse the web. Just assumed it was a location, or itinerary thing but maybe it’s a ship specific variable? We don’t game and didn’t need to stream anything so glad we didn’t pay the up charge for the premium.
  20. I did find that when I got a message from a travelling companion on the app that my watch vibrated as it does when I get a iMessage at home. Very handy since there’s no indication from the phone that you’ve got a new message.
  21. We’re sailing on Celebrity who also have a variety of shore excursions however we prefer smaller tours whenever possible.
  22. I see that for the Lysefjord cruise it’s offered by a company called Rodne…do you know if there are others that offer this as well, I had trouble finding any others. It’s a 3 1/2 hr tour and we’re only in port from 8-4 so this might be a good option for us. Doesn’t seem like enough time to hike to Pulpit Rock and looking at the pictures it seems terrifying to someone like me who’s afraid of heights and seeing there’s no guardrails at the top 😱, how has no one slipped off the edge?? I can’t even look 🤣🤣. Think I’ll stick to the boat cruise…
  23. Yes it is, we were on Silhouette last week and had lamb shank in the MDR…cooked to med rare as requested and enjoyed by both of those in our party who ordered it. They also had a lamb in phyllo pastry and a lamb roast on other nights. All were very good.
  24. Haha, me too…had the kids and grandkids over for supper and the minute they left I had to check to make sure “Peaches” got onboard 🤣. So relieved and now I can enjoy my glass of vino. Cheers Peaches! 🍸
