  1. Located in Brooklyn not that far away from Red Hook Terminal and Highways & Tunnels/Bridges.
  2. Forgot Rum Raisin. Had it last September on the QM2 for dessert and very disappointed. Not sure if homemade or commercial. Disappointed really. Peppermint Stick was Howard Johnson.
  3. I can still remember the ones my dear loving grandmother made so soft NOT BRICK, Tasty NOT DRY TASTELESS, Flavorful. Especially with a Proper Cup of Coffee....
  4. I enjoy in the past when being a child watching the 7 Up plant on 64 and 6 Avenue in Sunset Park Brooklyn the soda bottles being filled and capped. Now I miss it since it is now the Bay Ridge Toyota Dealership and just see the new cars in a different window. How times change.
  5. You have to remember that city taxis also have constantly running meters that under certain circumstances cost more. With city traffic and ongoing construction on the Gowanus Expressway and Belt Parkway can add up unexpected cost. Black Cars are estimated by Zones. This is IMHO........Local Car Services also by Zones and also Set Distance Pricing. Do your homework...
  6. We were on last September and there was some concern but she look good as always. We have to remember she is constantly in service and goes thru alot. We are boarding in 41 days and do admit we will see work that will be needed. Rust needs work but doesn't spoil fun on board. We also have to remember she is not also just out of the factory. Bon Voyage in 2 weeks.. We board 4 weeks after u.
  7. My Dear Mother use to like Butter Pecan, Pistacchio...... My are Cremolata and Egg Nog, both made by our local bakery.
  8. The Citadel from the cruise terminal is about a mile. I want to say it took us 30 minutes to get their at a leisurely pace. Just start walking right once off the ship and up and you can't miss it! You can also take side trip enroute and see the Public Gardens that is across the street.
  9. We use Dial 7 for our uses when we are in Manhattan to Brooklyn. And local car service in Brooklyn to our Red Hook Terminal.
  10. Which ones are you interested in ?
  11. We on Cruise Foodies are here to exchange comments, suggestions and experiences. Yes, everyone has individual tastes and no one is here to change minds. Here you will see some consider trying something but others as yourself kindly passing the offer.. Have a good evening...
  12. Unfortunately their are others like myself if the they are made right are enjoyable to consume. Speaking of Pumpkin Pie, Carrot Cake and Fruit Cake. Just like the others mentioned above, others made not like those made with variation of recipes. Fruit cake are really given a raw deal and always a joke but I have tasted a couple that would win others over prepared a proper way. Pumpkin I must admit can also be made even better than Sweet Potato Pie, And Carrot Cake can be very well made and very tasty with the proper Cream Cheese topping to accompany it. I had to defend these choices coming from a family related to food profession. Again, personal opinion cause tasting these not prepped right will turn you off. And adding ice cream or cheese to certain pies even cakes IMHO is wrong and don't see the matching.
  13. Got to follow your next Roll Call and see your activity and excitement..... Yes we sail in 6 weeks or 42 days at 5PM..
  14. I am a traditionalist and would stand with the old fashion scan card. I don't like these vendors that want you to charge by swiping your phone near a terminal or key pad. Honestly, on the last sailing, in most of the shops on board except for wine steward, they asked for name and cabin number and just signed the slip. Did not show any cards again except for the wine. And for 14 days never a problem with the cabin door lock. Did not have to get a new card or have it re scanned at the Pursers Office.
  15. I have never heard of anyone from all our previous sailings walked to downtown. It is a long 2 mile walk and about 45 minutes. I suggest to reserve your energy for all the other sites to see. Normal shuttles from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal to the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market are the best bet. Some of the sites we've seen is Faneuil Hall, Boston Commons, Public Gardens, many small historical cemeteries, some of the Freedom Trail, Old State House to name a few.. You should write to the Boston Chamber of Commerce for a Visitors Guide to Boston
  16. Some of areas we recognize is the Show Room, Illuminations Theater, Queens Room, Britannia Club Restaurant, Commodore Club are areas WE felt it. But it depends upon the number of passengers occupying the room at the time. One time we felt it in the G32 Disco and another time no... So best as said, be prepared. And also we use a short umbrella hidden in the luggage. We even have a short one from the QE2 with the Cunard Red & White Colors still works.

    Pol Aker?

This last sailing we did in September in the Princess Grill, we did have another brand which was not as sparkling as PA. It was pleasant and very tasty. We made it last for several days. We really don't mind what is placed in the cabin,it's a gesture we see it as.
  18. On our July sailing we have the second one marked as Gala but no theme designated. Maybe we will see when we get on board. It's a Day at Sea. We'll see.....
  19. There are definitely certain areas on the QM2 where a scarf is needed. I know my DW will be taking several even though it will be in July. We always look where the vents are above. We even have heard passengers on board stating after seeing others wear them, that they should have brought one and even look in the on board shops.
  20. We've taken the simple kitchen tour on the QM2 and found it interesting to see where our dishes are prepared and served from. It is well organized and would like to go again on this coming sailing. Very interesting. Coming from a family where my father was a chef and I learned from a early age,
  21. As mentioned in the past on the first morning breakfast is a double eggs benedict for the entree. Not really attempted at home since I am attempting to master hollandaise sauce. But on board or at home a old favorite of my, bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, slice of red onion and a GOOD cup of Coffee. I can also get it in bits and pieces if I want to have it at the buffet if we want to leave the ship in the morning.
