  1. kernie968, May I ask a question? You speak of a wheelchair you may have to bring. When my mother and dad needed to be taken to appointment or other tasks, to make it easier we used a transport chair which was lighter to handle. Could such a type of chair be better to handle and use for your mother. It was also easier to handle and store in the family car. Just thinking if something like this would help you. Just a thought,
  2. nbt, Image they spoke about the cabins being bare of items and not that much on the shelves or desk top. You had to bring what was to occupy yourself for that period of time. At least there was TV..... Then if it was ended you were escorted off the ship with the Empires Storm Troopers behind you with Spray Bottles..... Ditto.....Home Sweet Home....
  3. On their own ? Strange they did that. I know when we booked they asked us what airport we were close to. We told them that we are only 12 minutes from the terminal and have private transportation to the ship. Glad you can use the $$ for something else.
  4. I agree. There are many others ships sailing and that others would feel comfortable as they wish. We sail Cunard and like dining in BC at set dining room times. When we heard other ship have dinner time from 5:30 to 11. Unfortunately not for us. This also applies as you said to dressing challenge. I still remember in the past and read recently someone being challenged at the Britannia Restaurant Door due to their dress.
  5. I found having Ice Cream in a restaurant we like in Halifax to be more creamy and flavorful. Didn't catch the brand name. But definitely different.
  6. We never got to talk to those on last years sailing with us that were quarantined but we read many experiences and accounts that were posted before our trip in 2022. Many were very detailed in their accounts of the cabins they were placed in and how they were served. No one we read ever did state being claustrophobic but the feeling of being displaced from their original cabin. We did see most were placed in cabins with balconies most likely for the free air.
  7. Ditto..... We do fine it a pleasure to follow the suggested dress code of Smart, Formal and Gala Attire when sailing on the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2. It is one of the main attractions we look forward to experience and feel very comfortable with all those others especially After 6. Though it means extra work at home prepping with clothing but the benefit is the pleasure and memories we bring home and share with those others accompanying us.
  8. OldBear, Totally agree with you. I feel sorry for those sitting on their luggage with not much space available till their rides comes to pick them up under that covered overhead area. .
  9. The Ferry Terminal (Waterway behind ship) is located behind the left side of the QM2 Bridge.
  10. We enjoy sailing and meeting new passengers and Cruise Critics on board the ship. But just like our upcoming sailing in 36 days, the ship will already have passengers on board besides those boarding from the states and internationally. Even the dedicated staff members will be exposed to all and can jeopardize your exposure from previous sailing. So we will as said be alert with items on board and we bring to safeguard us,
  11. But there are still reports of cases on board which will continue...
  12. As A Brooklynite downtown can be very interesting. There is a version of Macy's on Fulton Street. You can stroll Montague Street and all the Shops. On a beautiful day/night a stroll along Montague Street toward the Brooklyn Heights Promenade to see Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge and the activity in the East River. Also the Statue of Liberty. But in the evening all a glitter.
  13. This past September we sailed for 14 days but did prep before with supply of masks, sanitizer, lysol travel spray with us. Used masks on board in certain cases and we were not along even on excursions. Unfortunately one of my Cruise Critic that TA and did our sailing and was to TA got caught on the last day of our trip. She was now going to stay in the cabin on the return trip. There were a number of those including our Cabin Stewardess affected also at the tail end. And another CC'er on our Roll Call reported three days later got it. We returned home was happy to have come home safe and sound. I hope sanitizer will be able but best to side on safety. We hope all will sail safely and enjoy the full trip and not be affected.
  14. Appreciate your confidence. Lots around there also.. Enjoy!
  15. When I was younger.......................and remember the thrill I use to get being given a Dixie Cup and peeled off the paper top. And using the wooden not plastic stick spoon out of the paper sleeve. I really liked the Hershey's Ice Cream Cup with the Vanilla Ice Cream and the middle with the Chocolate Syrup hard but slowly melting soft. YUMMY!
  16. Guppy, We agree with you with the cards. Yes you will have to storage it somewhere but we do that with credit cards on land. I really don't think they are an inconvenience. We are not ones to have something hanging around our necks or pinned on the clothing. Like we aren't ones like others liking to wear their cards on their lanyard or card holders around their necks. I think we are just use to the old fashion way in our ways.
  17. I agree the one can never be "overdressed" on Cunard. During our sailings some passengers even attempt to get into mood by dressing Semi not fully "Formal" on Embarkation Day after waiting so long to sail. That is the excitement some passengers experience anticipating sailing on the QM2. My DW and i would not mind additional Gala or Formal evenings when sailing. We too have awaited the trip during our preparation and packing since we don't sail as often as some do on these boards. There is an air that one feels when on board particularly after 6PM especially when approaching the Queens Room in the evening. I think it's an individual feeling that I even notice on our Roll Call on our coming trip especially among new to cruising and/or on board the QM2. We are even thinking on our sailing how to approach the undefined Gala evening with our dress/fashion. Maybe it will be labeled once on board. Bon Voyage to All....
  18. Dear Aspirational Flyer, I know we both agree that Cruise Critics is an open forum of personal opinions of our experiences while sailing on the QM2 which is also a vessel we love since 2006. But In my personal opinion about the G32 NightClub (descripted by Cunard) I agree about certain improvements that we noticed could be applied and maybe during her half life work talked about in 2026 here on this forum. "This vibrant nightclub on Queen Mary 2 offers the chance to let your hair down in a dazzling space full of like-minded guests, with a party atmosphere" The size of the floor would give more passengers more space to "Let Their Hair Down" as described. And the unfortunately positioned Pole which I always noticed. But I think the lighting with some minor upgrade may help. But she is not descripted as one of those ships that are out sailing the seas at this time. But IMHO....I don't see how this current atmosphere I have seen in the past, to come in June causes a negative influence to those enjoying themselves during those delightful evenings. I too after reading these remarks above on this forum question "being a bit lazy and imaginative" I too reviewed my pictures and videos. I saw and remember personally a bunch of Fun Loving Crowds almost Filling a Packed Floor "Letting Their Hair Down" to the music of the DJ and visiting band "Changes" on many evenings. I really do and respect your opinion experiencing other ships, do not think that more enhanced lighting is needed to influence the atmosphere of enjoyment. Being a profession retired healthcare worker, I believe use of laser lighting in a small location such as G32 is not suggested. That type of lighting can personally effect passengers with certain medical conditions and would prevent them from entering and enjoy G32. I know such a warning is announced in the Royal Court before shows. I just wanted to share my feelings and thoughts. I look forward to sailing once again on her in June and look forward to attending G32 and share the joy all have. Enjoy any Sailings in The Future.....Bon Voyage!
  19. Taken From Tour Bus on Excursion..... (Cruise Ship Pier to Far Right)
  20. When we went to our vacation in 87 at the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe, we took a day trip to B&J's and they happen to be making Cherry Garcia that they introduced in Feb. earlier that year. We got to taste it right out of the machine. Soft, Flavorful and Tasty.. Fresh crunks of Cherries not yet frozen. I could have used another cup they gave us.
  21. Agree with Number 1. I think because of her constantly in service Number 2 is a ongoing problem. But when we were on in September we saw ongoing touch ups all 14 days we were on. Granted by our disembarkation there was still visible. That's why it's ongoing especially on the balcony cabins. #3 - I think it would IMHO be out of place for the QM2 for G32. I think it's fine except for the Post too near the Dance Floor. I would agree that more of a Dance Floor space would help. But lights, lasers are more appropriate for those new Mega Ships of today. I think they have enough light effects there now.
