  1. I can't even log in to My Silversea! It refuses my 'saved' password and when I ask for a link for a 'forgotten' one it says it has sent me one but nothing ever arrives. I have contacted SS for advice but they haven't replied. Odd.
  2. Just come off Odyssey. One guy in the MDR found , at dinner, that his round neck tee shirt wasn't quite warm enough so they draped a blanket around his shoulders. As it was a casual blanket worn in an elegant way it was obviously deemed acceptable 😁
  3. WhenI worked for P&O we had an optional 'overseas contract' which basically said you joined a ship for a minimum 12month voyage and as that ship was not scheduled to return the UK within that period then you were exempt from all income tax, and it was not taken from your salary. All well and good but one ship I was on did exactly the opposite ....we came back to the UK and all non-taxable income was then subject to back tax. Caused absolute mayhem!
  4. FWIW I left Odyssey on Friday, feeling rough.. which I put downto a bad nights sleep .... and tested positive for Covid on Sunday?
  5. I never asked to be fair. She said the water from the sink, shower etc was fine for washing and showering but was ' not good for drinking '. She suggested using the supplied / home bottled water in the bathroom when brushing teeth. I presumed they know best πŸ™‚ and would only suggest such a course of action if there was a known issue?
  6. When we boarded the suite attendants introduced themselves and as part of the intro she stated categorically that we should not drink the tap water. She informed us that she would replenish water botttles in the cabin on a daily basis. I have no idea what they use in the restaraunts. Either way i do not like the taste, but imho water shouldn't really of anything. I haver never come across this scenario in all my years at sea.
  7. About to leave the Odyssey. We saw varying amounts of ongoing internal work. The suite was OK but the walk in closet is more of a slide in sideways closet πŸ™‚ .... not too good for larger peoples. We found the staff to be generally OK, the food, overall, is repetitive and boring, and in some respects verging on mass market catering . When the first thing you are told, within 30 minutes of boarding, is 'don't drink the water' your suspicions are aroused. The Collonade could be a scrum at meal times. It cannot cope with large numbers. This was our first SB cruise and on the basis of this one we wouldn't book another.
  8. At risk of being excommunicated I cancelled our second TK dinner .... totally unimpressed with the first one. Indian food? I sailed on ships with Indian crews and European Officers. The Indian crew had an Indian cook who cooked pukkah Indian food which was excellent. The Officers had a Goanese cook who cooked Indian food that was heavily tempered down because they were told to cook in that style irrespective of what the Europeans wanted. Pretty dire at times. You can have the best chef in the world but when a bean counter intervenes ......
  9. Yes it does ... that is why I asked for advice. I found the answer given somewhat dismissive and in practical terms unhelpful. I would have expected a more helpful attitude and possibly an offer to assist.
  10. Interesting .... today, mid afternoon, in the Observation lounge, I was told if I wanted a glass of wine in the obs lounge the I should go to the patio bar and fetch it myself as they were closed!
  11. Agree with that. We had, with BP, an EOP .... end of passage time. This was when we went on to 'stand by' ... . Berthing was usually 321 ... dependent on circumstances of course....unless ot course it was a Sea Berth at Umm Said ot Jebel Dhanna πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«.... deep joy ... you could sometimes see the land on a good day.πŸ™„
  12. Thanks for that ... I may need some Vitamin K πŸ€ͺ ..... or a chat with my little Irish friend Mr Bushmills πŸ™‚ SB, In their wisdom, have just cancelled another one of my excursions. Not overly happy but I accept these things happen .... even if they don't give a reason. I have tried to book another to replace it but am told that I cannot book on-line as we are too near embarkation. I am told I can book it by speaking to customer services. The excursions in question two weeks away but hey ho πŸ™„ I have rung CS and they say that I am too near to embarkation and they cannot help and that i must wait until I get on board and try then!
  13. We are flying out to Odyssey tomorrow for a Friday embarkation. Scarey 🀞
  14. My source says.... Navel oranges are medium to large in size, averaging 6-10 centimeters in diameter, and are globular to slightly oval in shape with the trademark β€œnavel” or circular hole on the blossom stem end. Apparently the hole looks like a navel ..... I wonder why they didn't call them Belly Button Oranges? More to the point do they gather fluff ?πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
  15. f you have an orange navel, you need to make an appointment!! 😳 Fake tan ..... gets everywhere πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
  16. Too many times to count. Some good displays and some feeble ones.
  17. I had a knee replacement some years ago. Zero problems afterwards. A dummy quote from one insurance company was several hundreds of pounds more whenI declared it. Rogues? As it happens I too am with NW ... Β£100 extra foe WW cruise over, age penalty and a heart op.
  18. Bit like being told that embarkation is at London / Dover or London / Southampton. ..totally different places. One excuse given was London was the nearest airport? Really? Another itinerary I saw was Florence listed as a port of call. Livorno was not mentioned. I am sure that when I was a Navigation Officer an excuse of ... well it's only 50 miles upthe coast would have gone down well ....not πŸ€ͺ
  19. The one I use shows ingredients of 99.5% peanuts 0.5% salt No palm oil or additives ... No room for bugs then 😁
  20. Absloute unrealistic tosh? Well edited to blow smoke towards Princess ... IMHO of course. I gave up midway through episode 3.
  21. Wheni I worked on oil tankers the smaller ones had a 8-10 foot freeboard and flying fish used to land - in quantity - on the maindeck. Come dawn, I used to let the Indian lookout go down and collect them and he in turn gave them to the Indian cook. From landing on the deck to being cooked in the tandor, and served with a fresh chapati or three ... within two hours ... Marvelous breakfast. Had the green flash many times but we were in areas of minimal to zero light pollution.
  22. Don't fret about it .... they were offering Goat Cheese sourced from a cow a couple of months ago and Crystal had a cruise from Norway to Southampton via the Florida Straits ......... completed in a day.πŸ˜„
  23. We are joining Odyssey on 25 August for a first SB cruise, so I for one appreciate all your efforts.
  24. ....and some purists would say only Bufallo Mozarella, and the pizza should be cooked in a wood fired oven.
