  1. I have a bee in my bonnet about this and, researching and reading between the lines I am of the impression that it will be 'challenging' 😤 ... especially if you are not a US Citizen and have all the ESTA palaver today with. Some one quoted over 3hrs last month.. Deep joy awaits 🙄
  2. For me it was a reminder that the season ain't over until the Fat lady sings🙂 ....but that was in pre-internet days and weather forecasts were via fax or the Admiralty manuals 🙄 Most of the TRS weather grief I have experienced was Pacific based
  3. Our plan to have lunch ashore and head toward the gangway about 1:00 worked perfectly. Zero queue for security check, likewise US immigration which we are told can be epic in Vancouver. 6 free agents to complete checkin with SB. Total elapsed time something like 10 minutes the vast majority of which was spent walking. Do I read that as separate / dedicated immigration channels per ship? That could be handy 🤞 We have an assigned check-in time of 1420 ... to be ignored I believe...but we will obviously need to be be on board and sorted by 1600 latest, possibly earlier, so with two other shops in port 🤞🙂🤞🙂🤞🙂
  4. A lot also depends on your own version of rough. Some people think that 2 metre swells are the end of the world ... and throw up accordingly .. others embrace heavy weather.
  5. I wish that SS, and Regent, allowed for a pricing model that one could choose without excursions. We are DIY and do not enjoy ship excursions. I have asked our TA and there is not this option with either ......... One of the reasons I no longer use SS ... shame really as the end product was good... which wasmore than could be said for UK Corporate.
  6. I have a pair of 10x42 compact binosfor ready use when walking hound on the beach. They are small and lightweight. My 'go to' pair was bought 40+ years ago. Nikon 7x50. These were bought for watchkeeping etc. Very loose rule of thumb ....divide the larger number by the smaller number and higher the result the better. Obviously depends on the optics etc. I used to own a pair of ex WW2 ones .. excellent unit. 8 x 60 ...
  7. Every cloud etc. 😄 To me they taste of seawater ... with lumps 🙂 Awful 8n my opinion. Each to his own. Similar opinions regarding caviar as well ..... a comment that will likely get me expelled from the forum.
  8. Old Sailors mantra ... regarding TRS's June too soon July they try August they nust September remember ... Statistically speaking a North Atlantic TRS will travel East to West and turn right ... but the odd one turns left and causes mayhem.... for the statisticians at least 😁
  9. Aquahound .... lesB? Used to do a lot of GoPro HD stuff? . Quite well edited productions .... mainly Silversea?
  10. I was hoping for Fevertree ... keeping fingers crossed but not optimistic 🤞🤞
  11. When the 'presenters' act like the the president of the guild of village idiots and start with 'So guys .... ', followed by an inability to speak a sentence without saying 'err ...' several times ... then I turn off. Professional or semi-professional only.
  12. Depends if you want the sun or not? Not a lot to see at sea so either side would be a good bet. Murphys Law states that anything interesting will occur on the other side 🙂
  13. Interesting to note there are no 'mixers' shown on the lists? Have we an idea as to what Tonic is available? Thanks.
  14. Better quality than the hooch that was marketed as rum that BP supplied after we had been tank diving ....horrendous job 😵‍💫 4 Bells is a name that springs to mind. Should be Bum not Rum!
  15. At least the circumstances are around cruise ships. Cargo ships and such tend not to carry a doctor so there is no one to formally pronounce 'life extinct'. They may be obviously dead but until seen by someone who is authorised to say so then legal issues may arise. Having said that things have probably changed since my day?
  16. Some time ago there were alot of complaints in respect of a ship with 3000pax in that many many people missed excursions because the ship did not disembark such a large number of passengers in an efficient manner. People claimed they were queueing for an hour and received zero sympathy and / or assistance from staff. Just a thought.
  17. Car sickness and motion sickness at sea are totally and utterly different kettles of fish. If she is that concerned then staying at home could be a preferred option. Whilst trying to avoid any overly bad weather is normal, sometimes you can't .... luck of the draw.
  18. Same problem on a Samsung Tablet .... works as it should on an iPad? Off course then the downloads have to be deleted. Why have a one stop easy method when three or four complicated steps will work just as well 😄
  19. Ah ... define Requirements.... the ships are registered in Nassau ... Do they / can they invoke USA laws on a 'foreign flagged' ship? T&C's of carriage need to be updated accordingly then it's a civil matter?
  20. Nothing at all showing up on mine. Just a normal typed menu. No logo's whatsoever.
  21. Spookily enough I have just had an email from my TA after I asked them the same question. They replied ....
  22. Fiddles it was ... gold star for that. "Wild" class never stopped rolling ...even when alongside 😄
