  1. Don't even mention the Tyne builds when they were using rivets! 🤪 At times it was not so much a creek as a death rattle.
  2. The last cruise I did with SS was just after covid so we had all the usual tests etc. SS clearly said that they would provide a comfortable waiting area and that they would supply refreshments etc. They provided nothing whatsoever ever. They made people wait in an unheated room and absolved themselves of responsibility from not providing refreshments. Apparently it was due to covid? The whole process, from failing to issue boarding instructions, to actually boarding was a shambles. I did 'offer feedback' but it was ignored. A phrase concerning parties and breweries springs to mind. Being that there were other issues with SS UK corporate, I wouldn't trust SS ever again .... and the OP's issues do not surprise me at all.
  3. If you remember to write it down of course 😵‍💫
  4. I once went to the USA ...many years ago ... and the ships agent was offering free tickets to the superbowl! No one had the slightest inkling of what a Superbowl was. Didn't affect our stay though people said it was somewhat busy ashore.
  5. Offshore fishing boats and cruiseships are totally different kettles of fish as far as motion is concerned. As for the Med... can be very bad at times. Wherever you sail rough seas are part and parcel of the trip .... they can happen anywhere. Luck of the draw.
  6. One pier, three berths. Pan Pacific is at that location, Canada Place.
  7. Private visit or ship arranged visit? 3pm departure will mean be on board by, probably, 2:30 pm latest. Too close imho.
  8. Many thanks .... I am fortunate in that I could eat seafood every meal .......... I could be happy out there😁
  9. When I first went to sea, computers hadn't been invented so all of my original records are on paper., I recorded staff, ports, distances travelled , and of course sea time,. Also all sorts of odds and ends relating to p2p distances ,time speed tables etc etc.
  10. What about meat dishes? It is my understanding that there are strict controls on the importation of meat? Pre-packed? Vacuum packed? Part cooked? Does this reflect the available choice? I am also intrigued with the Ceviche comment .. could you supply examples? Thanks
  11. ... unless you want to sing soprano 😵‍💫🥶
  12. Same for me. I declared a heart condition that had been treated by surgery ... all is well, no meds, no follow ups etc, NW had no problem with that. Similar scenarios with other quotes. Using the same information as given to NW .... it was cheaper to buy Annual rather than Single Trip, and quotes given ranged from £800 to £3000. The phrase "rip off" springs to mind. Just a little bit of research was required ...
  13. One way you are flying the same way as the earth rotates and one way the opposite so you cover the same longitudinal distance quicker.
  14. With respect, there are five other threads of a similar nature on this page alone. All give pro's and cons for style budget and location.
  15. What about places like Alaska where many excursions are small boat based and the ship is in the middle of a fjord away from land? Or do they use shore based companies to supply the kayaks and zodiacs?
  16. I have no interest whatsoever in a sailaway ..... if I am free I may amble out onto the balcony but thereagain I might not. A late sailaway is a good time for dining ... loads of people outside and minimal people in the restaurants.... 🙂
  17. Perth Pink was one MP recommended? aka Chateau 'Pee de la chat'? 🐈‍⬛🤪 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbOZccv9ym8 Decidley politically uncorrected now ..
  18. Asda might have a £10 for two meal deal in the cafe? The booze might not be unlimited but there might be a limit as to how much you wanted to drink 😁 Remember the old Monty Pyton sketch about Australian wines ...😵‍💫
  19. For me, a waste of a butler. I am very low maintenance and quite capable of looking after myself. I found one to be over intrusive and rearranging things that he need not / shouldn't have touched in the first place. He cleaned shoes that hadn't been worn since he last cleaned them. Within days I asked him - nicely - to leave us alone and that we would call him if needed To the original point .. I could see SS dropping the butler from 'normal' verandah suites, (keeping the price constant) and offering them to the higher suites with a suitable price increase of course 😏
  20. We had the same issue. Kicked off the ship at 9am, airport by 10am, sat thumb twiddling until 3:30pm check in. No left luggage facilities and minimal seating. Nightmare! Awful place.
  21. We too have the Nationwide cover. I paid £106 extra for age cover, worldwide cruise cover and declared medical issues. At £13 per month it is a no brainer, considering the other perks offered for that account.
  22. Personally I dislike most of the "Island' whisky varieties, much preferring Speyside or Highland ..... neat and at room temperature and then allow them to breathe. My current favourites being North British and Compass Box 'Hedonism .. both essentially Grain whisky. I went to a distillery tasting some time ago and someone asked for ice ..... not a popular request to a distiller. 🙂
  23. Obviously a pro-forma email. That is exactly the same mail they sent to me? I just posted an extract. Not impressed.
  24. Sorry, the 'normal ' season ... technically the official hurricane season runs between 1 June and 30 November but the period of highest concern is just between mid-August and early October. IMHO you'll be unlucky there is anything about so late. TRS .... Tropical Revolving Storm. Cyclone, Hurricane, Typhoon, Willie Willie .. all local nicknames for a TRS.
