  1. UK based but same idea. After extensive research to find what I wanted and didn't want, I found a company that did just that and then I searched on TA's 'approved' by said company.
  2. Never been on a ship that doesn't have lemons. I can't believe it 😁 I have sailed with a few though πŸ™„πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ€ͺ
  3. Just booked the PP ..harbour view room... but looked at both Fairmonts .... Six of one and half dozen the other. Chose PP for convenience, dining options which were more to my taste should I choose not to go out. Also got a package deal with a bit of inroom credit. Baggage transfer doesn't bother me but direct access to the terminal is a bonus.....especially it it is raining.
  4. I aml looking elsewhere from SS and Oceania is on my shortlist, being that entertainment is lo2 on my list of priorities then O may be up my street. They seem competitive enough pricewise and are not including lots of 'free' / unwanted bits.
  5. Am I correct in thinking that they can pay Google to have a better, more prominent listing that will put them nearer the top of the first page?
  6. And there's me thinking that someone was smoking something that smelled like sewage πŸ˜„ I was thinking of those foul smelling French things .... Gauloise? Now those did smell like camel dung!
  7. .... or, as the man said "Listen with your ears - not your mouth!" πŸ˜€
  8. Am I correct in thinking .... if you go on an excursion you have to present your electronic ticket as proof of purchase and therefore you are almost 'obliged' to take your phone with you when you are ashore? Long gone are the days when I switched mine off at the departure airport and left it off until we got back😏
  9. Such unwanted and most certainly unasked for celebrations would be on my 'worst nightmare' shortlist. In fact I could get seriously annoyed if they accessed my data for that purpose!πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š
  10. And if you go to 23 degrees the sea warms up and one of the many factors in a TRS vormation is that it starts within 23N and 23S. As an aside, I have crossed the Pacific many times and the worst weather I experienced was in lower latitudes. Monitor the forecasts and weather patterns and then look outside ... Marine weather has a mind of its own😁
  11. As far as I can see the App functions on IOS and Android but not Windows. Personally I can use it on a tablet ... even with my sausage fingers ... but with a phone? No chance. The text / view area is far too small for my aging eyes, plus my phone is quite old and not as powerful as modern ones.
  12. Pakistan and India hate each other ... well politically at least 😁 A reverse scenario... we were in Karachi and a new 3/0 was to join the ship. Why corporate did it is beyond me but they appointed an Indian national who had to fly rom India to Pakistan. He said the journey from the airport to the ship was hilarious. He was escorted by the military and he said they were laughing and joking and making fun of the whole 'undesirable alien' aspect. It does make you wonder at times.πŸ™„
  13. I know a lad who essentially psyched himself up to being sea sick.in his case it was all in the mind. He took the appropriate medication as suggested by Dr. Google .... and the side effects were not good., to the point where he was ill. The weather etc. was fine with limited motions ....which was more than could be said for him 😁 Also, as you appear to be a Cunard regular, bear in mind that the QV is not a cruise ship, per se, but an ocean liner that was designed for such things as rough (er) weather.
  14. We have our first SB cruise next year ... 14d Alaska ... I suspect I may be viewed as 'over dressed' should I decide to wear a tux.πŸ™„ Do I care? No πŸ™‚
  15. Not on a cruise ship, but an oil tanker, although to be fair the alarm was not sounded as we had no powerπŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
  16. For me ... not bothered for Hosted tables Shared tables ... Fixed time dining ... Theatre productions ... Pretentious menu's .. Pretentious passengers with over inflated ego's. 😁
  17. The last time I was in that area, at that time of year, the weather was vile. Having said that it could be OK when you go. Who knowsπŸ™„ Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
  18. Unless they are late back from an excursion and would feel unncomfortable with their attire in what is essentially an elegant restaurant ? I would .... but that is me.
  19. Interesting thoughts. We have a Vancouver embark and the subject of American Immigration never entered my mind! Memo to self? Obtain an ESTA! I have never had a problem with the 'professional' uniformed staff ... but the attitude of some civilian airport and port staff I found totally obnoxious, especially at MIA! I now refuse to fly there. They give the impression that visiting Brits are 'tolerated' but not really wanted. IMHO of course.
  20. We received nothing whatsoever until a matter of days lsst time ... standard fare for UK corporate as far as I am concerned. Our cruise consultant was next to useless.
  21. Fwiw ... I have just looked on the Seabourn Source app for our forthcoming cruise, and for the Odyssey the main resterarant is NOT shown as being open for lunch .. dinner only.
  22. Ours was very good also, then he left and went to Switzerland. His replacement could be head of the guild of village idiots. Emails invariably ignored/acknowledged. Failure to inform about urgent procedural changes. Nothing overly important πŸ€ͺ just flight cancellations, no boarding/embarkation details etc πŸ™„ Misinformation given on telephone conversations. Dismissive of our concerns. Either arrogant or ingnorant? Dunno, but I will never deal with that person again. Parties and breweries spring to mind😁 So yes, a good PCC is good, a poor one is dangerous.
  23. Having been involved with training and exercises at sea, I sort of got sucked in to emergency and contingency planning when I came ashore. We covered all sorts of interagency scenarios but the guarantee of a fluster cluck was poor communications. The reason I mention this? Not so long ago there was bump in Venice and one of the 'experts' said that there were six different nationalities on the bridge, all using English as a common language ... and all with their own accent. So SO easy for a breakdown and a subsequent misunderstanding. As commands move down the food chain something will invariably get mistranslated?
  24. MBP&O2/O

    Sri Lanka

They did this last year. Cancelled a Northern European cruise and made it a 'round England' one instead .... but continued to sell the original one. Corporate really couldn't give a #### !
  25. Our 14n cruise is in August ... we have booked ....and paid for πŸ˜₯ excursions .. also booked TK twice .. and that was some weeks ago, certainly over a year in advance.
