  1. You will be sent an updated boarding pass closer to sailing and it will have the bar code and the group you check in with and the time of your check in.

It looks to me like the entire world dropped covid protocols coinciding with the White House Announcement on Tuesday. In actual fact dozens of countries dropped COVID protocols months ago. The USA has been the Pokey Kangaroo on this one.
  3. Please take the smoking comments to the proper smoking thread.
  4. There is a core group of posters on this blog who are members of the “Perpetually Alarmed” club.
  5. Real NHDOC Said: Well, like so much of what comes out of the mouths of HAL employees it just doesn’t jibe with reality. If you don’t care about happy hour then why do you follow this thread so fanatically? You’re way out of line and off base with your remark. The OP told you what he based his opinion on and that was the information that a HAL manager passed on to him. But it appears you’re the one that knows it all. Maybe you should lighten up and accept other people’s opinions instead of pretending to be “Mistra Know It All” and CC thread moderator.
  6. Thanks again to all who high jacked this threads original question.
  7. Once again as to your question, there is no charge for room service, there may be an up-charge for some food items but there is no charge for room service.
  8. No charge for room service. You may tip if you like.
  9. No, HAL has positioned the tvs so access is unavailable plus most of the tvs will not have ports available or they are disabled.
  10. Kazu, I don’t think you understood my question regarding the use of the word meta in my message to Miss G. I know what meta means and in my past life I delt with meta data.
  11. Miss G said: CO makes sense when the upgraded room from lowest meta category is cheaper than purchasing the highest meta category. Please explain to me your use of the word meta or what you think the word means.
  12. T-Shrts and shorts should be fine. Take a light jacket and pants and your good to go.
  13. Have you checked the HAL excursions that are available?
  14. Crew Appreciation is going up to $16.00 per day for insides not sure what the cost increase is for suites. I believe the increase starts on February 1, 2023.

  16. If you don't drink, surf the web get and send email, don’t do specialty restaurants or only occasionally go to them and don’t or rarely do shore excursions then HIA is not for you. By all means go with the lowest fare you can. I firmly believe that for the majority of cruisers who do want or are interested in those choices that the HIA offers can be a money saver but, you need to check out each offer as HAL continuously adds or subtracts from their HIA promotions. As I stated in another thread we did the math and it does work out much cheaper for our cruise of choice than the offered low price when you add the costs of the extras to that low price point. Below is a quote from a message I sent in the thread I mentioned. The cruise I’m referring to is the 27 day Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale October 1 - 28, 2023 sailing. We checked the lowest (best) fare and the HIA package was a far better value. We ran a mini budget and if we each had five drinks a day, alcoholic or nonalcoholic based on $11.00 each plus 18% gratuity the cost for just those beverages alone would be just over $3,500 00 for the cruise. That would bring the cost of the “cheap” fare up to the HIA price! That drink package with the other perks that you would normally pay for, such as shore excursions, specialty dinning and crew gratuities made the HIA package a no brainer. I firmly believe that HAL is positioning fares so they can turn to an all inclusive model and do away with all of the “other fares” and have one single price. This is an excellent opportunity for them to compete with land based all inclusives. I suspect within a relatively short time you will see just one price offered to customers and not just on Holland America.
  17. I am pretty sure you could wear the same outfits every day and not many would notice or even care.
  18. Your deposit is $100.00 no more no less. It stays as your deposit.
  19. I think the key here is: 15-drink daily limit, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages In context to HAL’s literature, the word drink refers to alcoholic drinks, ( as in lets go for drinks after work ). The word beverages pretty well covers the rest.

Our cruise is a 27 day and we are in an inside K on the main deck. Our shop card is the lowest amount we would be eligible for. If we had booked a veranda or a suite the shop card would have been a much higher value.
