  1. Probably Barnacle Bill, the subject of a very bawdy song.
  2. Couldn't find anything incomplete in the MedallionClass app. Still we were in the Blue Lane. Looking at another post about selecting arrival groups I was suddenly inspired. We already have enough Medallion bling (wrist bands, lanyards, bracelets, pendants, etc) so we just ignored the section asking you to order bling. THAT was the problem. Seems you have to order at least the free lanyards and holders. As soon as we did that, voila! Green Lane. Done! For now until for some reason the Medallion App IT geniuses make some change and we're back in the Blue Lane...
  3. Even if you try to get them shipped to your home and they don't arrive in time, it's no problem. They'll just make up new ones at the port. Takes a little longer but can be done. Still, I agree with other posters, just pick them up at the port.
  4. You won't get a receipt from Delta, only EZair. It's the same on American Airlines, no receipts. Once on AA there was a programming error for about a day and you could see the receipts. It exposed the amount EZair actually pays the airlines which is different (less) than what EZair charges you. That's likely the reason you can't get a receipt from the airline.
  5. Good question. If you can't arrange for a test on the dock I suggest you get one the Internet proctored tests. Optum is one. Since the cruise isn't until February, pretty much wait and see and then decide what is needed in early January.
  6. Fog has nothing to do with the satellite-based Internet performance. Don't believe it if guest services tells you that, it's just plain wrong!
  7. We traveled on the Star Princess in 2009 to Antarctica with another couple who we travel with quite a bit. On this trip we booked balcony cabins on opposite sides of the ship, both near the aft elevators. This way we could easily go back and forth to get port and starboard views without being on deck and freezing.
  8. If you were removed from the waitlist they book your excursion. You have something like 48 hours to pay for it. That's probably why you have a schedule conflict - you're already booked!
  9. Don't forget you'll be in Buenos Aires and/or Santiago in the middle of their summer. We did this cruise (our first on Princess) in 2009 and I had to go get some lighter clothes because it was sooo hot. Note: We arrived in BA four days early so I was definitely suffering until new duds were purchased.
  10. You won't necessarily see this. The direction draining water spins is much more affected by the mechanics of the drain itself along with any initial impulse to get the spin going. People often point to the Coriolis Effect as why water will drains differently in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. What they don't realize is it's a very very small effect and really won't matter with water draining. What it does do is make storms rotate differently because over a large area (hundreds to thousands of square miles) that tiny effect adds up and makes a big difference. I once saw a YouTube video from a village in Africa that straddles the equator. The locals had two funnels, one marked North and the other marked South on each side of the line. Of course the water drained differently. Turns out if you switched the funnels to the other side, there was no difference, each one still drained the same way. That's the way they were constructed, to FOOL you.
  11. It depends. If you book a Restricted Fare, yes, you must pay up front. Flexible Fares are not due until final cruise payment. Most of the time one sees Flexible Fares cheaper than Restricted Fares so it's a no-brainer. There are exceptions however.
  12. Really? Where can I get the following using independent booking? Letting you book without having to pay until final payment. Changes with no change fees until 45 days before departure (admittedly this isn't as big of a deal as it once was with most airlines dropping those fees, for now). Missed departure protection - getting you to the next port (if legal of course). Significantly lower air fares on international flights.
  13. Or it's a real, live, muster situation and you haven't checked in at your muster station. They can then find you.
  14. It seems all the airlines do something like this. Don't think it's EZair that's the source of the name smooshing (I like that - name smooshing).
  15. I don't know all of it but on Dec 1 2022 she sails for South America from Los Angeles. She then starts going back and forth from San Antonio (for Santiago), Chile to Buenos Aires. Many, if not all the itineraries include a cruise through the Antarctic Peninsula. All these cruises should be available for viewing on the Princess website.
  16. Get in line Buddy! My trusty TA is already on the job. Hmm ... wasn't planning on this one but it's a bucket list thing. Now I wonder if I have enough FCDs to cover this. If Alaska 2024 doesn't come out until early October I should be OK as we can purchase some more.
  17. Spoons! I forgot about those. It seemed that spoons were in short supply at all five lodges! Had to ask for them everywhere. How are we supposed to stir the sugar in our coffee?
  18. I have to agree. We were at the Riverside this May for two nights at the beginning of our land portion. The restaurant was definitely a buffet for all meals and the quality was down. At that time the servers were working hard and were personable but hey, early in the season maybe they weren't worn down yet. As far as food being days old, well ... we didn't see that and a quick visit by a health department inspector would shut down a facility faster than you can say OMG. I find it hard to believe that the food was actually three days old - however, it may have been out too long and ... sterno warming tins not being lit is kind of hard to fake. So, there's that. In summary it sounds to me like the facility certainly didn't improve and probably did get worse.
  19. Personally I think it's great that Princess is working to attract this demographic. The energy and excitement this will bring should get the blood flowing stronger in us older folks.
  20. OK folks, what am I missing here? As far as these old eyes can see, both letters indicate Skagway is being replaced by Sitka. Never been to Sitka ...
  21. They've already figured out they go with all three sailings. They are just various combinations of 7 day sailings. Sometimes it's better to book B2B2B or B2B or as 14 or 21 day sailings. You have to look at the combined fares as well as the various OBCs you'd get whether from Future Cruise Deposits, Shareholder and possibly Military / Veteran's benefits.
  22. Yes, status unknown will be there for a while. It's not a problem. You can request early ticketing. Some people do as some airlines won't allow you to select seats until you're ticketing. In my experience, AA is not one of them, although I have heard reports of people having problems with AA. If you get early ticketing, you no longer have a flexible fare. There may be change fees if you want to rebook although it's hard to tell these days as most airlines don't charge them any more.
  23. As PacnGoNow said, you should be seeing your reservation on the AA website. Right on the splash page of AA.com (you don't even have to log in) is a tab labeled "Manage trips / Check in". Go there and you'll be asked your last name and for your record locator. You should be able to see your trip. If you don't, yes there's a problem because as soon as you get a record locator on EZair, it's from AA, they have it. As for your other question about when it's ticketed, it seems EZair staff is getting around to paying the airlines about 30 days before your departure date. At that point you'll have ticket numbers in your Travel Summary and AA will stop bugging you to finalize your payment as well. Don't worry about AA's messaging, I understand it's part of the arrangement Princess / EZair has with the airlines. They won't cancel you.
  24. Just cruised in June and didn't seem to have any issues ordering multiple drinks from the same profile. Not sure if they were both charged to the same account but we never got to the daily limit.
  25. Wow, just wow. This article is completely unbiased - NOT! https://news.yahoo.com/cursed-cruise-ship-where-120-195715044.html
