  1. We also booked a Guarantee for the first time on a Rotterdam 2024 cruise. It was required as part of an early booking package (Elite Beverage, Pre-paid gratuities, better wi-fi package). Added Club Orange and we are in a VF cabin. Anyone have experience with VF cabins? I honestly never figured out the cabin codes. I know it is location, but anything else?
  2. We had an aft Vista suite on the Koningsdam in late 2021. Cabin 4213. I honestly could not tell that it was any larger than a standard Verandah. Love aft cabins, but prefer the couch to be next to the balcony since we spend time eating and relaxing there.
  3. We had our 100 day medallion ceremony on the Zuiderdam in May in B.B. Kings. The medallions were on our bed a few days earlier. We didn't think to bring them but they had spares for the photo with the Captain. It was a nice event and if I recall there were 95+ receiving the bronze medallion.
  4. We ended a TA in Rotterdam in May. Spent the day walking around, eating and enjoying the sights. It was a fantastic day. At this point, I prefer Rotterdam over Amsterdam.
  5. I doubt it - they are incredibly bland
  6. I pack a can of Old Bay for every cruise. I put it on almost everything. To me, HAL food could use more seasoning. I had my first crab cake in Baltimore - and every crab cake I have had since then has been a disappointment.
  7. my sister just told me her supervisor is the mother of a pianist currently on the Rotterdam
  8. I’ve seen NFL and college playoff games on the Lido big screen.
  9. Enjoying a gin&tonic at the lido bar. Ship looks great!
  10. If you are active/retired military or a DoD employee.....I recommend the Hale Koa Luau. The Hale Koa Hotel is adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki
  11. We were on the K-Dam for the Thanksgiving 2021 cruise. Lots of multi-generational families. It was still early in the return to cruising phase so I think there was an occupancy cap - because the ship did not feel crowded at all. Whatever kids we saw - they were very well behaved We’ll never do it again though because Thanksgiving Dinner is my favorite meal of the year and it was meh on the ship.
  12. We were on the New Years cruise. I think ambulances met us at every port. Saw evacs at Loretto and Mazatlan. We must have been eating next to you because we were at the table next to the emergency. Crew quickly surrounded the table and held up sheets.
  13. I'm going to try again in a couple of days. I was able to get this after booking before. Every time. When you call, let them know you will cancel and rebook in order to get your deserved OBC. Hopefully they realize the insanity of this.
  14. I tried this yesterday - on two separate calls. Each time told Military OBC could not be applied to my 2 existing bookings.
  15. I tried to do this today for cruises booked for May and October. Was told that since we re-verified after booking, they credit could not be applied. Only to new bookings. Called twice - same response.
  16. This is exactly what happened with us on a Hawaii Cruise last year. CO was refunded after we paid the upsell difference from Signature to Neptune.
  17. excursions as well. booked some today and the price online for most were higher than the price listed in the e-brochure I printed a couple of months ago
  18. Thanks for this. This brings back memories. I remember the filming of the Ft Rosecrans flyover. We went to the beach and watched it from NAB. I was testing out a huge video wall at one of my projects and we played the Maverick trailer. Feb 2020 or so. Never imagined them that it would be 2 years + until the movie was released due to covid.
  19. While the original Top Gun took place at Miramar (then a Naval Air Station)...Maverick was filmed at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, including the I Bar scenes. The film version of the I Bar was built as a set on the Base...and was a good (but larger) representation of the actual bar which all Maverick fans should visit. I was taken there by surprise on my birthday last year....coincidentally the day after I watched the movie for the 4th time. We even got a drink chit because someone set their phone on the bar. He had to buy a round of drinks . I wished we had watched it on the cruise. It would have been cool if they showed in on the Lido screen during the sail away as we rounded North Island.
  20. agree. This was tan excellent boarding process. 40 minutes from living room to stateroom. Latest we have ever boarded. The ship seems packed.
  21. Having some coffee. Getting ready to pack. Boarding at 1:50. Cant wait.
  22. We had an aft Vista "suite" on the K-dam last year. I couldn't tell the difference between that and a standard Verandah size-wise.
  23. The Liverpool department store in the heart of town might be an option.
