  1. Does anyone know where Terry Breen is now? We had the good fortune of having her on two Regent cruises, one in Alaska and one through the Panama Canal. Absolutely superb, I think I would sign up for a cruise if I knew she was on it just for that reason.
  2. I am in my late 70’s and snorkel for hours every year when we go to Maui. It’s definitely my “happy time “.
  3. Hobar, if people refrain from wearing jeans to the MDR as you do, I am perfectly happy. We can wear jeans to just about any restaurant in Southern California. While cruising, we like to feel like we are experiencing something special, different than what we do at home. I love that my wife gets a little dressed up and I try to complement her by looking my best. That would never include wearing jeans of any ilk, no more the price. We have enjoyed our many Seabourn cruises, but if the dress standards noticeably regress, it will have an impact on our cruise choices. BTW, the free laundry offered on Regent allows everyone to look nice all the time, it’s a great inclusion.
  4. You should have one Sunday buffet, and they are special. Usually they are the first Sunday sea day of your cruise. IMHO going to a specialty restaurant the first night is a good plan, they don’t tend to be fully booked and service is excellent. It also may provide you with more opportunities to obtain additional nights at your restaurant of choice. We also eat later, but not as late as you. Going to Sette Mari about 8 or 8:30 should work well. Be aware the shows usually start at 9:30 if you are interested. Enjoy your cruise.
  5. If you have any time in Riga, even briefly, you would be interested in the Museum of Occupation. Small but well done. We learned a lot in a short visit.
  6. On our last Regent cruise we had a good bit of non refundable OBC, and we are not spa people. After a few purchases in the shop we still had a fair amount left. Picked a very nice cab and a very nice chardonnay and brought them home. Plan to have them soon at special anniversary and birthday dinners.
  7. Don’t know about Seabourn, but the social hostess on board Regent does a fantastic job with the solo travelers. Nightly meetups in the Observation Lounge, followed by dinner, other events. The solo travelers always seem to be having a fantastic time. Happy cruising!
  8. Another suggestion…try disconnecting from all this stuff for your vacation. You might find it a pleasant change!😊
  9. Really enjoying your posts. I hadn’t been thinking about a return to Norway, but this thread is making it very enticing. Thanks for all the posts.
  10. If you don’t learn at least one new thing on this board every day, you’re either a genius or you’re just not trying!
  11. However, wine weighs significantly less than water and is significantly more healthy and purposeful! 😀
  12. We found the metal bottles to be large, clunky and heavy. Our solution, which we repeat at home as well, is to simply reuse the lighter and smaller plastic bottles.
  13. Maybe it has changed since last year, but I have always been able to get a list of included wines set to my cabin the first day of the cruise. As stated above, find the Head Sommelier. By day 2 or 3 we have found our favorites and don’t have to vary from those unless they run out.
  14. Just curious, it certainly is of no real import, but could you ask around and find out the stated reason/rationale behind the change from Cruise Director to Entertainment Director, etc. Seems like such a useless waste of time and energy for any company to make a meaningless change like this. I am assuming the responsibilities are the same. If true, there must be better things the staff at corporate could be doing, like figuring out how to improve the customer experience, even in some small way. Enjoy the cruise!
  15. We cruised on both the Radisson Diamond and Regent Paul Gauguin back in the day. I remember the tenders on the Diamond motoring under the ship, very cool!
  16. For the same cruise, our flight (from LAX) on Turkish had no up charge and our return from Dubai on Emirates was $1600 pp extra. Both nonstops. We were fine with the upcharge as it saves 7 hours (we still are flying 16 hours) and a transfer. Very happy with the schedules plus have added Emirates free limo on both ends (Dubai and LA). Look forward to seeing you on board.
  17. I believe Walt Disney got the idea for Disneyland from Tivoli Gardens. We are close enough to hear (not see) the Disneyland fireworks every summer night. Fortunately, they are at 9:30!
  18. Our first ever Seabourn cruise (NZ/AU on Quest) we had this situation. Mother and daughter from Sydney who wanted to drink everything before the ship ran out. They closed the bar every night and then proceeded to wake us up. Very difficult to remain civil, but we did. Would never accept a connecting door again.
  19. While it was trip insurance per se, we did have a rental car accident covered by our Sapphire card. The damage was $2600. They were outstanding, fast, easy paperwork. They paid everything, no questions asked, very promptly.
  20. The sport coat is easy, just wear it! The flight attendant will take good care of it and you can easily wear it to embarkation.
