So nice to see you with your family again. How is the family settling in in Amsterdam?

Beside being apart from the whole family, they're settling in nice. Very peaceful and quiet....

  2. Thank you ALL for the well wishes.

I'm thoroughly moved by some many of you who posted.

The happy reunion. From 5C to 34C in one day....

DS2 & Co. are based at our in-laws (the parents of our DIL). We'll get the grands for a couple of days and nights.

They're here until Saturday, 4th of May.

DH didn't cook much, apart from chopped liver, since until the last moment we didn't know what the "situation" will be and if they'll make it here.

He'll start tomorrow on the chicken soup and, more important, on the "gefilte fish". There will be also a new "edition" of chopped liver for the second "seder" on Sunday night.

  3. 10 days of "nail biting" and emotional roller coaster ended today.

After the last week Iranian attack upon Israel, most of the airlines cancelled, again, their flights.

DS2 was supposed to arrive for the Passover holiday Saturday, the 20th. Rental car with 48 hours free cancellation.

Checking with the airline early Thursday (18th) -- the flight is a "go".

Friday morning "we" retaliate (who thought to attack Iran a couple of days before the Passover, with the risk of returning everyone of us to the shelters again??? no answer from "above").....

In no time at all, DS2's flight was cancelled. The airline agreed to reroute them via Paris. He counts himself lucky... Friends of his, who already checked their bags Friday morning, were rerouted via.... Abu Dhabi, spending the night flying East in order to get West.

BTW, the rental were very understanding and waived the cancellation fee.

Finally, we were reunited with our grands late this afternoon. What a huge relief and joy !!

Mark @h20skibum -- what a beautiful party. Well done, so glad your granddaughter enjoyed every minute of it.

@DaniDanielle -- hopefully Charlie is better and you're taking care of yourself too.

@aussielozzie18 -- aussie, as usual, your pics are stunning. Thanks for sharing.

Praying this ends here, and all in the path of any kind of further attempt are protected.

    + 1 , thanks

And a BIG thank you to all of you, too many to thank individually. It really means so much for me in those trying times.

Pls. forgive me, after a tense and sleepless night, I'm simply exhausted.

Relieved that our allies and us managed to intercept all that was "thrown" our way, and hoping against hope that this will be the end of it....

  5. Thank you

    @Sunshine3601, @barbeyg, @grapau27 , @Ocean Boy, @h20skibum, @DaniDanielle and

@Ourusualbeach   Ken, should "something" happens to us, pls. cancel our cruises and my reservation at HI Express Cape Canaveral

I big thank you to Mr. President Biden for standing by us. He's a real "mensch".

It's after midnight and all around us people are awake. We're glued to the TV, if the air raid is sound, we're 2 seconds from our in house shelter. Hope it'll help....

I hope your cousin is doing well, and on the way to full recovery!

It does give very different perspective to all these "money" games.

I truly wish everybody on our cruise will make it - no cancellations, no "no-shows", no emergencies!

Thank you for your kind words. She was lucky it was caught early, being in a medical occupation, they both are undergoing annual check ups.

It was a bitter-sweet cruise without them. She lives in Germany and we didn't see each other since before Covid. The cruise was meant to be a happy reunion....

We booked, again, a cruise in September. Early days, but this time WE might have to cancel, if the war in our country will continue...

Enjoy your cruise in this rare itinerary !! I'm aiming to take this cruise too, one of those days.

I suppose emergencies happen. And people can cancel.

But I wonder how many cancellations can happen so close to the sailing date?

My cousin had to cancel a prime location cabin just a few days before sailing day, due to a cancer diagnosis. Since our reservations were linked (dinners, shows), she preferred not to cancel outright, for fear that both reservations will be cancelled

She was a "no show" and was credited back the taxes.

My DH thinks the future lays in hydrogen fueled cars. BMW and Toyota already have some "on the road".

@Ozark_Kid John, I think you're totally amazing.  Your love of life and feelings of gratitude show the kind of man you are, a man I am proud to call friend.

In the Yiddish language there is a word "mensch".  Google it.   It describes you.

I hope everyone is safe and in good health and prayers for Dani @dani negreanu and her family and friends for a peaceful future.

    @grapau27

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, Graham.

Very stressful here, sitting ducks waiting "to happen". Our high ups are so narrow minded, think only in terms of more power/war instead of compromise and peaceful solution. The extremists (sadly on both sides) have the last word....

This morning we were so looking forward to travel and visit our good friend, who suffered a stroke more than 2 months ago. He can now spend Friday and Saturday at home. We didn't visit him for the last 3 weeks, since I was sick with flu.

Instead of visiting, we're all stuck at home, waiting for a missile attack from Iran.

"Hopefully", it will happen today/tomorrow and we'll be "done with". Our son and family, who live in Amsterdam, are supposed to fly in a week from now, for the Passover holiday, and we're eagerly waiting for them.

Afraid that the flights will be cancelled, again....

There is breaking news in the UK about an incident at a Bondi beach shopping centre in Sydney Australia.

+ 1, so sorry to read that there are 6 dead.

Is the production of electric cars being promoted in your countries?

In Israel, the electric cars are heavily promoted, mainly by cheap Chinese manufacturers, which compete with Tesla.

However, people who waited months at a time for a Tesla delivery are hugely disappointed and many are returning/selling almost brand new cars.

On top of Graham's valid points, think a small and densely populated country, with traffic worse than LA and very sparse charges....

I am so excited you will be on Bella 2.0 I can't wait to be able to say Hi in person.

    Same here, Karen.

I really hope we'll make it. Some many obstacles along the way.............😢

Thanks, just wondering where @dani negreanu was seeing 200, which would certainly be a bargain!

I've looked at the first item on the left side of the menu (small letters). Saw something starting with 2.... Got a "sticker shock" and, instead of "dwelling" on the other items, decided best to ask if it's US $.

Didn't mean to "confuse" you, sorry.

Southampton is a 315 mile drive for me.

The last few times we have stopped halfway there and stopped overnight in a hotel then drove to Southampton the next day and stayed overnight in Southampton before getting on our cruise the following day.

Driving home we stay in our halfway hotel again.

"Breaking" the long drive is very clever.

Our "standard procedure" is to arrive at least 2 days before a cruise sailing from Europe and at least 3 days from US.

For the Bella 2.0, we aim to book a direct flight which will land us early morning of January 30th, for the February 2nd sailing date 🤞

I booked another P&O Iona cruise this afternoon.

Enjoy your next cruise on Iona !!!

I so wish we had a cruise port within driving distance, with no need to fly.

Booked a Voyager OTS out of Athens, that will be the shortest we'll have to fly to. Due to the war, our excellent TA found us a group booking with refundable deposit.

That being said, by US standards the prices are quite reasonable for a first class steak house.

Are the prices in US dollars? 200$ for a steak seems a lot to me, but what do I know, living in the Middle East.... 😕

I just found out this morning that I have a squamous cell carcinoma on my thigh. Bummer. The doctor will be doing an excision later in the month.

Pat, DH had the whole range -- BCC, SCC and melanoma. He is full of craters.... Full check up every 6 months.

The first 2 are OK if found in time and all is excised.

    Good luck and 🤞

I can get into RC's site from my computer to plan my cruises....
