  1. I don’t have a problem with someone just offering a counterpoint! And you did it without making it personal. You did great! Just one last point, when I switched my iPhone 13 to APM wifi, bluetooth and cell all turn off.
  2. There is a new Omicron variant specific booster, referred to as a bivalent vaccination meaning it contains mRna componants for both the original strain and the BA.4 and the BA.5 contagiens. It was only released to the public at the end of September, and makes all past solutions obsolete. So Greece will be expecting you to show that paperwork.
  3. In the Explore menu select Ships. Click on the ship you’re interested in. Scroll down to See Stateroom and click Learn More.
  4. I feel your pain. 9 Times out 10 I check in, see the same, tired, navel-gazing thread titles and click the “mark site read”. One day someone will post something fun again. Someone always does.
  5. Maybe we should leave the second opinion diagnoses to their family doctor.
  6. What is even the purpose of Airplane Mode, if not to block cellular and wifi data so airline pilots don't have to worry about their communications being disrupted?! If you want to further explain to the person who asked the question I was answering that: "you should keep your phone in Airplane Mode to prevent roaming charges but remember to re-engage whatever you need to receive messages" then do that. But people who can't shut up about this need to stop acting like I invented Airplane Mode, and now it's yawz responsibility to explain to me that it doesn't work.
  7. If you've never had chicken pox, if it were me making the decision, your cruise would be cancelled.
  8. iMessage (which is what the person was inquiring about) is an Apple program. I supposed there could be a version for other phones. When you turn on APM on an iPhone, all communications turn off by default. Thank you for responding without being smug and insulting, like that other guy. Ugh my ignore pile is getting ENORMOUS.
  9. Usually the cruise line makes it clear that if you want upgraded air (which involves seating and boarding) you have to arrange it on your own with the airline. This is new to me. Now I'm wondering why I can't just ask NCL to upgrade my seating once they send me my air itinerary which I'm certain I will hate.
  10. A wifi connection requires that you not be in Airplane mode. Why is this so hard?
  11. Really? Why don't you explain to the class how your phone is going to receive a single message when its data and cellular signal is turned off. (I can't wait to hear this one)
  12. Not when you are expecting to receive messages. If you want to put it in to APM after you've retrieved the messages you are expecting, then that would be the time to do it. Aimeskip was asking "How does my iPhone get the i-messages."
  13. Don’t put your phone in airplane mode unless you are trying to avoid getting any messages from anyone. Not only will airplane mode block all wifi signals, it will kill your cellular reception, turn off your bluetooth, and on some phones even block GPS triangulation. Airplane mode basically turns your phone into a nightlight.
  14. Whew. This concept is scary. I usually find I get tired of losing money about halfway through the 3rd night of the cruise.
  15. Seems pretty clear this is one of those situations that nothing less than a phone call to NCL customer service can properly service this account change. Why would anyone take a chance trying to find a workaround?
  16. I’ve just canceled my upgrade bid after switching it to an aft penthouse. I know what it is, it smoke from the funnels, and of course the aft is going to take the brunt of drifting smog. People keep saying it’s sewage, which is ridiculous. They could never continue sailing with an unchecked sewage problem. But it is precisely the kind if diagnosis people would make who have never had to spend a night with funnel stink wafting into their balcony doorwall. It smells like burning garbage and a thousand ashtrays. Depending on the wind direction and speed funnel smoke can reach down on to any deck, into any stateroom, for any amount of time. The aft has to be the area that gets it the most. Even if the ship is burning so cleanly that you can’t see it. It’s incessant. But it’s not sewage. Still. On a ship as diminutive as the Sun it makes perfect sense that she would have a bigger issue with wafting exhaust present in the aft than on mega ships. On those, it’s likely that the sun decks and sports areas take the hit. But with a ship that’s only 848 feet long right down her back makes the most sense.
  17. Well, if nothing else, it’s a great way to motivate people to double check their debit or credit card available balance.
  18. May be a language translation thing. I have no doubt they farm that department out to overseas locations not unlike Apple or Bank of America. One or two words crossed can cost a fortune.
  19. According to the PLEASE READ that I got when I did my bid last night, they also warn you that your insurance policy will be upgraded to the new stateroom catagory, which in some cases could be considerable. So that has to be prepared for as well.
  20. Great tip! But it seems like if the front desk is asking for the full name of the crew member, then they must be getting the tip the moment it's put in to the computer, and the piece of paper you give him or her is strictly ceremonial. Otherwise when the crew member went to cash in the slip, it would be as though he were saying, "I understand so and so gave me a tip", and the front desk saying, "Why yes. Yes they did." Which seems kind of superfluous.
  21. Of course but all the cruise line would need from them is to collect, track, organize and analyze the associated data. That doesn't require an algorithm, unless an instruction was written just to select all of the winning bids at the end. But that still wouldn't preclude them from being chosen strictly based on highest bids. Plus it must be nice for NCL to know that if something went haywire, they have someone to blame.
