  1. What you are actually seeing is all the premium times were booked online. However, once you get on the ship go to guest services and check to see if they have open dining times and maked reservations first thing on board...same for any shows. They hold back times and reservations for guest coming on board. That said, you can also be seated if you wait inline at any main dining room....you don't really have to have a reservation tor those. But if you want to do specialty restaurants I'd do that ASAP when you get on board...you really need reservations for them.
  2. I would have gotten that promise in writing...via email.
  3. That is my husband.....I plan, do all the research and reservations, buy all the necessities, make all rhe arrangements for the sitter to handle our cats and my disabled brother who is not going with this time....then spend a week packing my stuff. Hubby opens his luggage, pack it in about 30 minutes, gets up that day, showers, dresses and he's ready to roll. LOL
  4. I have 2 very small compact fans still packed in the boxes they came in. I can't imagine they'd take them. I will put them in my carry on instead. ugh!
  5. We were offered to upgrade from our regular balcony to any level above ours on our 7 day to Bermuda in May on Prima. Due to cost we would only consider the "spa balcony". The other levels are just more than we want to spend. That said, I am concerned about the "speed car raceway" above the spa balcony deck and if it noisy. I keep debating with myself if I want to make that change since the location of our currant balcony is on deck 10 mid ship and fairly convenient to everything. Only reason I am considering the "spa balcony" is so we have a place to relax if our ship is at full capacity and it's packed with people. We also like the saua so there's that. Decisions decisions!!! Has anyone here been in a spa balcony on Prima? What was your experienc? Thanks!
  6. One of the things I've notice with these big ships, or I should say what I think they do which impacts a better experiece, is........they build these mega ships to pack in as many cabins and pay restaurants as they can....leaving too little space for people to gather in all the public places. I think it's avoidable. We are booked on the new Prima in May and I am hoping it's not going to be the same experiece we had on the Breakaway with all common areas pack full of people. I just can't handle that. We are not in the Haven so we will have no place to go unless we book he Vibe which is pretty costly for us. That said, thank you for the very details review and so sorry you had so many disturbing issues.
  7. We've had cabins next to the elevators and stairs and never had any noise issues. I purposely booked our up coming cruise on Prima right across from them since it will be less of a walk for me with back issues.
  8. So we do not the the Premium drink package so we can't order Champaign without a charge. My question is: With the regular FAS drink package can I order a a glass of Prosecco or a drink with it in it?
  9. Since there are sooooooo many vaccinated people gettting Covid regardless of how many boosters they got, I don't get why they are requiring either the vaccination or the test. I would think by now they all know you can still be positive if you are vaccinated.....so why not drop that requirment and just make everyone have a negative test?
  10. It's funny I rarely pick my cruise due to a line's price unless it's way over the top for us, like maybe Viking cruises etc. Between the usual lines I've picked one due to the intinerary generally. That said, I've done more NCL then any other simply because I like NCL better....not for any one specific reason but as a whole. Originally we picked NCL because it had poker. Hubby is a poker player at the time none of the other ships had it, and NCL was open casual dining which was a big plus for us. But as time has gone on other lines have adopted some of that so maybe one day we will try another line out............but it won't necessarily be due to pricing.
  11. When I was offered an upgrade for a "spa balcony" I took a look at where they are and most of them are right under the cart track...........so I declined because I would no be able to pick or see what cabin I had and I was not willing ot listen to that when relaxing on my balcony.
  12. Wish there was one on the Prima.....a steam room is the only reason I'd book the spa, but the cost is much too high for just doing a steam room.
  13. Yes, I considered the latitude tiers which can consist of a of people. I am only gold and not likely to reach much higher since we are not frequent NCL cruisers. But oh well. The thing is...while I understand giving Haven guest extra incientives and perks....they spend a huge amount of money for special treatment, I think that's where it should end. Most people book a cruise expecting to be able to experience all the "entertainment" that they say goes along with your marvelous vacation and they really don't advertise all that with "conditions"....you have to seek those out. So that being said, I feel like we are entitled to reasonable expectations of being able to walk into a theater and get a seat without making a mad dash to the box office as soon as we board. I never had any problems with seating on any of our other cruises so I am not sure it these issues are just on the Prima or if the reservation rules have changed. I don't keep up with all the changes.....but I do see a lot of complaints about them.
  14. Barefooting is totally out of the question. If I sat on one I'd be wearing socks that I didn't walk around in but barefoot and shoes...nope! Not likely I will be using these lounges now that this is turning me off.
  15. Easy....open up the reservations for restaurants at the same time for the shows. This way one can see what the time frames are and book accordingly. So far, the restaurant reservations opened first. I made many of mine in hopes that I picked the right times versus the show times....we shall see.
  16. Boy do I agree with you. I think all of this started with not only the ships getting bigger there for available seats at restaurants and shows are more limited ....and them wanting to sell their upper level cabins and using the reservation system as one of their perks. Business is business but it sure takes a lot away from how things use to be. I don't like all this planning ahead. Our vacations do not consiste of all cruising like some, so our lattitues level will not increase much, nor will we being booking "upper level" cabins or the haven. Our vacation budget is spread out doing many other things besides cruising.
  17. I can see it all now.........cabins above the Club balcony will be booking all the reservations leaving very little for the rest of us.
  18. Very dangerous job for sure.......NO RAILINGS!!! I don't understand that. In very rough seas I would think they need something to remain stable if standing out there. Yikes!
  19. The only thing I am anal about is keeping my ice filled and leaving new coffee filters. That is all I really want, oh and clean towels at least after 3 days. Thing is......the past several cruises we've had, they don't fill the ice bucket when they come in to clean. You have to track them down when you go back to your cabin. I really wish they would let us fill our own ice like we can do in a hotel. I thnk on our May cruise I am going to leave a sticky note on the ice bucket....."please fill". As for tipping. We always leave about $50 on a 7 day cruise sometimes more.
  20. I hope you fan keeps working for ya......there are numouse reviews that say it stops working after a few days. ugh! I want one but I am hesitating.
  21. Hmm....that bed does not look all that bad. We booked a family balcony incase I needed to add my disabled brother to our cruise so if we don't do that I can use this sofa bed. My hubby snores really bad so I would want the beds separated....but this looks like a better idea. We can just push it back up in the day time.
  22. I kind of agree....our very first cruise was in 1988. It was NOTHING like cruising today. Everything about that cruise was "unforgettable" except for the FOOD. The food quality was heavenly! And that was in the Main Dinning room which was the only restaurant to eat. That was when you had a set time for every meal...breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only other option was a midnight buffett which was pretty darn awesome as well. Bottom line...cruising has improved on so many things...entertainment and activities and cabins etc....but food quality has been sketchy on some areas. I would not want to go back to the way things were on the old cruise line days but I wouldn't mind if they took a page out their books on food quality.
  23. I thnk "Warm Water Diver" just told us about his negative experience so who wants a pitchfork? LOL
