  1. Folks are offering good advice, and so is Cunard. Don't expect to catch a train from Penn Station before Noon. Lots of delays getting through immigration at the Brooklyn terminal and the cab ride to Penn Station can be very slow due to congestion. Ferry/subway as Starstruckhaprper suggests is great, but only if you have very light luggage and are not a person of a certain age (like me!).
  2. We had a terrific experience on the Quest in 2018. Weather allowed us to land on shore once and to have an extensive zodiac experience on another day. Otherwise the weather was just not good enough to venture out. But also saw lots of penguins in the Falklands. Lots of wildlife, extraordinary views. Plus the lovely Seabourn experience. It was a trip of a lifetime!
  3. "Sweet Home Bora Bora" and "What's Breadfruit Got to Do With it."
  4. 323 on board. Are they limiting capacity, or just not a sold-out crossing? Or a combination?
  5. Never witnessed this in the Grills. But it is nice to know that it has happened.
  6. Yeah, I got the email as well. And I will take a look in February.
  7. Not surprised. On tonight's PBS news there was a video of demonstrations and an aggressive police response, in Lima.
  8. The lovely pictures of the Canal brought back pleasant memories of our trip on the Quest a few years ago. Thanks!
  9. I love wombats. We keep a stuffed one in our living room for protection. Lots of Cunarders will tell you that there is no problem taking wine and spirits on board. We've done it many times at embarkation and in ports. Bottoms up!
  10. I think you can get bubbly delivered.
  11. Shark: Just catching up to this thread now. We had originally planned to be on the WC but had to cancel for personal reasons. We are now booked for the 2024 WC. I will follow your adventures with great interest. A tres bon voyage!
  12. This is one of the best features of the Seabourn stateroom. If you want to have a lazy evening in your cabin, order in, and then dial up some entertainment among many choices on your TV. We have never found such a large selection of entertainment on any other cruise line.
  13. We have been on the Sojourn and the Quest, both for very long cruises. The food was quite good, although with some flaws. We were happy enough to have booked a World Cruise for 2024. That says something.
  14. The positive conviviality among passengers that we have experienced on Seabourn has been unlike our experience on any other line. Most of the passengers are super-friendly and are dedicated to enjoying each others' company. The smaller sizes of the Seabourn ships facilitate this, as does the activity programming on board. Add in the larger size of the verandah-class cabins, the amenities of the all-inclusive experience, the very good drinks and almost very good food, Seabourn has delivered a better experience than any other line we have tried. Still trying some new ones, though.

    Food

    Some people like the informality.

    Food

IMHO the cuisine in Britannia class breakfast, lunch and dinner is comparable to the main dining room on an HAL ship. And the dining room is more grand and lovely on Cunard. But Holland gets a big thumbs up for their lunch buffet, an area where Cunard does not compete. HAL does a good job of delivering lots of quality casual food options at lunch time. So dinner, Cunard. Lunch buffet, HAL. IMHO.
  17. As a previous Crystal customer, today I received an email solicitation for the deposit program. At this time, I am not biting. I will wait to see how the new Crystal shakes out.
  18. Floris: This is a happy report. Thanks for making me more comfortable.
  19. Very disappointing. Worried about the World Cruise experience.

    Waitlisted

We had booked Britannia Class on a May crossing on the QM2 with wait listed for another class. This past week our TA notified us that we Queens Grills was available, so we took it. We are still wait-listed for Princess Grill, which is our preference. So the wait list for this type of an upgrade can work.
  22. Tizwiz: Very balanced and informative review.
  23. We have brought wine on board when embarking and on board in ports with no questions asked. My mother-in-law has brought her gin on board as well.
