  1. Sorry to report that on the QM2 in June the service was terrible. We bought the upgraded service and it was seldom useable, especially in our PG stateroom. We tried all over the ship, often sitting or standing directly under a router and still bad. The problem was that it kept cutting out, in the middle of an email, reading something on-line, etc. I hit rock bottom when I tried to use the internet while sitting in Connections while the ship was docked in Southampton and most of the PAX were off the ship. Still did not work. And the staff had trouble as well. My husband needed to send a time-sensitive legal document and was unable to do so with his own device. He got a kind concierge in the lounge to help, and she was unable to assist with a project that would take a minute or two at a hotel on land. The concierge enlisted further help and finally after 30 minutes or so they were able to electronically send the document. So, to sum up, lower your expectations.
  2. Sad to read that the dining room lunches are gone. We have enjoyed them, not everyday, for often enough. We like to sit in peace and there was always something good on the menu. Plus they will cook up a special order pizza!
  3. Doglover214: The others have done a great job summarizing what to expect, and it all lines up with my experience of 3 November southern crossings. Start out cool/cold, end up hot. This is a great crossing and a great way to return to North America.
  4. Sorry to be negative, but...we bought the premium package on a QM2 crossing in June and it was no better than the terrible internet service from pre-Covid. So many problems connecting, staying connected, accessing simple things like email. Just a terrible product and a waste of money. Lower your expectations.
  5. Fresh oranje juice at Seabourn Square each and every morning. You can keep your caviar in the surf, just give me some fresh OJ!
  6. Thanks for the review as I found it informative. IMHO so many lines are struggling with the start up post-Covid, as are so many urban areas around the globe. I try to be patient and do not always succeed.
  7. We usually sail Princess Grill class and as we are booking from the US, we often get a very nice drinks package thrown in. And through various sources we get some OBC, and on a crossing (which is our usual travel choice on Cunard), there are not a lot of options for spending the OBC other than bling. So sometimes we are tempted to buy a nice bottle of wine, and that causes no problems for the wine steward or the accountants. They seem thrilled to make the sale and charge our on-board account.
  8. IMHO Cunard does not really care to provide adequate internet service even though they claim to have upgraded. That may change in the future, but I am not counting on it. I am really fed up with this lack of service.
  9. We had unlimited Pol Acker in PG on QM2 in June. Bottoms up! Or use it to remove your nail polish.
  10. We tried Aztec once on the QM2 quite a few years ago. Not recommended. Hard to create quality Mexican cuisine on an English ship with a bunch of Asian cooks.
  11. Same thing for our crossing in June. Just these 3 in Kings Chaos, no Smokehouse.
  12. We sailed PG in June on the QM2. I see that you are familiar with Cunard and know the product is very different from Crystal and Regent. And I'm sure you know the QM2 is a unique ship and appeals to many of us because of its many special features. We found the PG experience in June to be hit-and-miss, and we attribute that to the re-start after Covid. So many new staff who have not been adequately trained. It was not even close to luxury, but was acceptable. And the food, well ho-hum, but that is the usual Cunard experience for us, IMHO. But we love the QM2 and if that is enough for you, then try out your cruise, even though, I recognize, it is expensive in PG. PG is never ever affordable.
  13. Talk to the Maitre'd in either the Restaurant or the Colonade and they will be able to arrange for a special meal for you. A special Indian cuisine meal is not a great stretch for them, so they should be able to do a good job and treat you right. Special meals are supposed to be a regular thing on Seabourn, as long as you don't request ingredients that they don't have on board. Bon appetite!
  14. We disembarked in Brooklyn on July 1 and also arranged a private car through Cunard for our drive to JFK. Smart move on our part; the car was waiting for us when we got through immigration. There were just a few cabs outside the terminal The immigration lines were very bad that day. Not sure exactly why as there was no explanation. But there appeared to be too few staff to handle the crowd. So it was difficult to predict exactly when we would get through the queue and get in the car. I recommend hiring a luggage porter. That will get you through immigration faster.
  15. Nice to hear from you, Henry. It's been a while. Hope you can board Seabourn soon.
  16. Mr. B is correct. On our last crossing, we had a complimentary drinks package as a perk in our PG booking, but we could not see it on any of the info received from Cunard. However our TA could see all perks, including drinks, on the booking that he views on line, and he sent me a screenshot. Once on board, the Grills Concierge confirmed it all. Annoying, but it worked out.
  17. Bell Boy: Wear a cheaper suit! Just kidding... Yes, paper receipts are back. I just make a habit of emptying my pockets on a regular basis.
  18. Years ago, on my first QM2 crossing, I met a couple who were traveling in Queens.and they invited me to cocktails in the Grills Lounge. No one kicked me out even though I looked like a Steerage passenger. Honestly no one ever asks class status in the lounge.
  19. Order Dover sole for dinner as often as possible. If nothing appeals on the lunch menu, order a hamburger. Take full advantage of the Grills Concierge.
  20. We were on QM2 June 22 crossing from Hamburg to Brooklyn. The alternative dining in Kings Chaos featured Bamboo, Coriander and the Italian choice. We dined at the Bamboo option one night and had a good dinner, a sampling of Asian dishes. Some hits and some misses, but on the whole, a good dinner, nicely presented in a Bento Box. It was worth the up charge and more interesting than the menu in Princess Grill that night. Not many diners, only about 20% occupancy. I think the up charge chases away a lot of people. The ambience is OK. Mood lighting and table cloths on the tables, but it is still Kings Chaos, not a grand setting.
  21. Yes, prices on cruises, as well as lots of other travel options, drop during the period between US Thanksgiving and Christmas. A lot of people are preoccupied with holiday preparations and just don't travel then.
