  1. The gem is moving to a nearby port - so starting to research categories. Any further information/experiences on whether SN acts get the full PH treatment? Only I only care about the breakfast/lunch benefit (Modernos, Cagneys)
  2. That advice applies to appliances like hair driers! Modern electronics (iPhones, iPads etc) are “dual voltage” - they are made for the world market. They can safely be plugged into the opposite receptacle with a simple adapter. Google it.
  3. I have to believe the answer is “yes”. They are certainly not on any prohibited list, and I imagine bridal parties and newlyweds bring them on all the time. Great idea BTW!
  4. yes, but a Disney cruise costs about 3x as much. I’d rather see a few rust stains and chipped tile and cruise more!
  5. I’ve read you guys are really experiencing “weather” and may return late?
  6. I agree they should be identical, regardless of who pays. My husband and I both have the same even though it always goes on one of our accounts. we had a missing trip once and it took months to get it resolved so good luck!
  7. Just off YC and did not hear that, but honestly it would not surprise me. The YC beach area is extremely rocky - maybe they can do some heavy excavating to improve that? And the lovely dining/bar area barely fits the passengers from a not quite full Divina - if it is to accommodate the new mega ships I imagine it is almost a full “re-do”. And of course some genius only put one bathroom (and by that I mean one stall!) in the original/current facility (seriously, how could that have happened?!). Brining that up to snuff is also a big project. So, even though I heard nothing, would make good sense (but sorry for you if so OP!) Looking forward to hearing what others may know.
  8. You will love the Divina YC crew! You will quickly meet “Pepe”, the YC Director who is the most hands on manager ever. Also Mehmet is the Maitre D’, equally wonderful. Have a great time!
  9. Same as everyone else - I think 7? there are no exceptions for YC. If stairs are an issue, take the elevator down about 15 minutes before, and then prepare to hang out until elevator service restored. There is an option (not publicized) for one person to go and get two id’s swiped in, just explain the “other” can’t do stairs.
  10. I’m looking forward to seeing him as Maitre D’ one day as we have only had him as a waiter (quite a few years ago). Always with a smile, and everyone would ask to be in his section. He was very diplomatic in suggesting what not to order!
  11. I am still waiting. Emailed them yesterday mid-day. Oceans-calling, what number did you phone? I only got a run-around by phone.
  12. I think there can be only one Arthur 😊 He was our waiter when we first sailed about 5-6 years ago on Divina, and then later again in Seaside. Hope to catch up with him one day soon. Pepe is a marvelous YC Director - he is everywhere at once! Coming back from an excursion we even saw him out directing all the incoming tour buses (not YC specific) to park since no one else had stepped up and it was a mess Really enjoyed Mehmet as Maitre D’ recently on Divina. He also manages to be everywhere and do everything. I believe he will go on vacation before the April crossing though he may stay on and do the crossing.
  13. The YC experience bears no resemblance to “regular” MSC. it is a “ship within the ship”, with its own private real estate and key access needed. Private dining, lounge/bar (canapés served all day), private pool deck with bar (light breakfast, lunch and snacks), pool, hot tub .. butler service, basically you are spoiled. Divina is our favorite YC as it is a smaller ship and the service even more personal. Drawbacks are the poolside dining is more restricted as they don’t have a kitchen up there, and you do need to walk aft to the restaurant (it is the only class of ship where the YC restaurant is not within the YC space). Personally I like the walk.
  14. these days you only need just the plug, as most devices can be used interchangeably… (not things like hair dryers, but electronics such as laptops, iPads etc)
  15. We had also done a recent crossing and booked the historic domed train as it would have been cool to follow the route by rail, but unfortunately it was cancelled. Not enough pax signed up.
  16. Not a storage hack but you’ll thank me! Ther4 are only 2 or 3 US plugs/receptacles (and no USB ports IIRC). Buy and bring a couple of adapters that allow plugging in US devices into European plugs/receptacles and you will double your available spots to plug in electronic … https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097GCZWMM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058EG0KC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  17. For Columbia, consider the hop on hop off bus tour, or arrange a walking tour. The old city is a gem. What tour did you book for Colon? You mentioned you had already done a crossing … We love Divina, so many different venues throughout the ship. Consider packing several simple Europe to US plug adapters as there are not enough US plug receptacles. You can double your space if you can also use the European plug receptacles. These are two prong inserts available for around $5 from Amazon.
  18. I wonder if a common factor is having used the app on a recent voyage. My husband and I did, and sure enough first time we tried to log into the website after returning got the error message. Any others have the same experience?
  19. Despite being a seasoned MSC cruiser I have not heard of this ability to switch dates. is it “one time in a lifetime” like the status match? And a full year if booked on board?
  20. I sent an email this afternoon to that address after trying to get help online. Fingers crossed.
