Using Uber in San Francisco

Has anyone here used Uber in SF? I have Princess transfer booked for our April cruise to Hawaii (post cruise to airport) but wondering if I should cancel and do Uber. We will be getting back into SF on Monday May 8. Wondering about their "surge" pricing and if that would be prohibitively expensive.

Princess charges $58 for 2 people.

Thanks for any advice!

If time is the essence then cab or uber, if not then BART is a good option.

Thanks. Is there a BART station close to the pier? We're coming into SF a day early and taking BART to our hotel at Union Square, not sure if there is a station close by pier 27?

A little reading on the board would reveal the nearest BART station, Embarcadero, is a little over a mile from the pier.

Is it eas to take BART with luggage? Do you check it like an Amtrak trip?

No, it's just a plain old subway. There are elevators to get you down to the platform, and there's usually room for luggage, but I wouldn't count on that during rush hour.
