Concierge class? Is it worth the extra cost?

We sailed Coincerge class on the Solstice for our May 2017 Alaska cruise. We liked dining in the main dining room for lunch on embarcation day as opposed to the Ocean View Cafe. We also liked the freedom to embark AND especially disembark when we chose to. It was nice not having an assigned time! Was it worth the extra money? I do not know that we had upgraded linens, upgraded toiletries, etc.. The every afternoon hors d'oeuvres we pretty horrible so that was definitely not a perk worth paying extra for! However, we chose Coincerge class for our April 2018 TA cruise so I would have to say for us, yes, it was worth it. Just depends on your budget.

When we started sailing on Celebrity, you could get Elite on 4 cruises. It was worth it! Now, not so much.

We made Elite in four cruises, we started sailing on X after the last changes to Captains Club. 1 week AQ, 2 weeks SS, 2 weeks AQ, 2 weeks SS.

We'll be Elite + soon enough, but I really don't expect to ever make Zenith. X don't have enough itineraries for starters.

As for the question of Concierge Class being worth it, I think the previous posts have covered the pros and cons very well. I'd just advise people to bear in mind that concierge class isn't always more costly than a regular veranda. Quite often they're the same price and in some circumstances even cheaper particularly if its after final payment date.

The following screen shot has been taken from a cruise price monitoring website. It shows the current pricing and available inventory on an 11 night M class ship sailing. Pricing is low as it's past final payment date.

Green figures represent a recent price drop.

Red figures represent a recent price increase.

Greyed out figures (ie aqua class cabins) are sold out. The prices stated are what they sold at before selling out.

The figures on the left hand column are in US$ and are what you will pay if booking in the US but do not include taxes and port charges.

The figures in the right hand column are in GB £ and do include taxes and port charges.

So if booking in the UK it's only £79 per person to upgrade from an inside to a C3 and due to the current UK offer (valid for the next three days) you will receive a classic beverage package as these are included with all cabins except insides. So booking the C3 could be seen as a free upgrade whilst purchasing the classic drinks package for just £7.18 per person per day.

But if booking in the US, you need to pay $400 more for concierge class when compared to an inside. So as for the question of is it worth it? Well it can also depend on where you are booking it too!

Just to add to Celebrity pricing complications you get a better deal booking some suites if booking in the US, but get a better deal booking balcony classes if booking in the UK and it's all on the same dailing!!!

Celebrity Millennium 27/10/18 sailing. I suspect that many 2A and 2B cabins have recently sold due to recent price increases. Interestingly enough they are now the same price as C1, C2 and C3 cabins on this particular sailing if booked in the US. Slightly more expensive if booked in the UK.

So is it worth spending $17.88 per person per night on aqua class? lol

Most people say not worth it. However, my husband and I have done it on both of our Celebrity cruises and have it booked for our next cruise too. Why? We like the freedom to embark and disembark when we please. We also enjoy the lovely, delicious sail away lunch in the MDR rather than fight the crowds in the Oceanview Cafe. We also like the expanded Room Service menu AND the foot stools for our deck lounge chairs!

We paid $5 more a person total. That makes it worth it to us for the embarktion lunch and bubbly. I would not pay hundreds of dollars.

If it’s on any S class ship, and it’s more money than a regular balcony, then don’t bother. The examples above are irrelevant to you as they are on M class ships and Equinox is S class.

We always pay the fare for AQ class but we use the AQ perks and esp BLU

We no longer ever book AQ. We do not enjoy Blu- Same menu for years and seating so close. We do not like the perks either or the location of the cabins. Typically under the pool and gym deck- or on the Summit next to the outdoor movie which makes it really noisy.

Even in a suite, we prefer to dine in the specialty restaurants for dinner at least 5 nights on a one week cruise. If you do not need the points or are on S class ships- save your money-book a balcony cabin mid ship with cabins above and below and dine in Specilty restaurants. On the M class, the CC cabins are larger then the regular balcony and worth the difference in price-IMO

We recently upgraded to Concierge after final payment when the price dropped to the same as we’d paid for a regular balcony cabin. The only benefit we were looking forward to was the embarkation lunch. We were really disappointed when we went straight to the dining room after boarding at 1:15 and were told the lunch finished at 1pm. IMO that is a ridiculously early time to finish serving lunch. We definitely feel Concierge is not worth paying more for.

First of all the embarkation lunch is very good.YES rooms are the same as Bal on "S" class ships, but big difference is the experience of the staff at the "CC" level . Less experienced staff will work inside or lower level decks...Big Difference!!!

Don’t give up on Concierge we upgraded from 1A cabin to C3 and saved over $750 on our March 18 Eclipse cruise.

Wow! Concierge for same price as Veranda! Sorry about the MDR clising before you got to eat your sail away lunch. Last year in Seattle the Concierge line was as bad as the regular lines and the Concierge rep was going through the line telling us the dining room was extending its lunch hours! We were really upset about missing the lunch because it has been fabulous our first two trips with Celebrity! Next time if you book Concierge and your line is long and your Concierge rep is handy, see if she can get the lunch hours extended.

We like the freedom of embarking and disembarking that Concierge allows. Also, the foot stools on the balcony are great if we want to fully recline.in our lounger. It is just a personal preference of ours.

We prefer Concierge due to the location of the cabins. The embarkation lunch is definitely worth it, no crowds.

Not always true. We just returned from 11 days on the Equinox. Got a fantastic group rate for OV on deck 3, about 5 cabins from the Guest Relations desk. Loved the location. Had one of the best room stewards in over 40+ cruises. She kept track of when we were out of the cabin and had it cleaned up so fast we hardly saw her. I gave special recognition by name on the cruise survey and tipped her extra. Over the years, we've taken inside cabins too and found no difference in service by the room steward from many balconies. Just saying........

We also had a horrible butler on a Celebrity ship. If you can believe it- we had him twice- once on the Summit and once on another ship-forgot which one. So even if a person is new-they could be excellent-regardless of the job they have.

Sometimes those with more experience look for shortcuts.

Not in our experience. Our room steward on our recent sailing in CC was far from excellent. Either inexperienced or didn’t care.
