When I did the November round trip. I was disappointed I didn't join the choir. The choir sang in the grand lobby and it was quite tremendous. l was very surprised how many people had taken part. Even the on board singers commented how amazing. I will certainly make sure I participate next time.

Joining the choir is often quite a time commitment - but it is also tremendous fun! I have joined the QM2 choir for the National Symphony Orchestra crossing, which was absolutely brilliant. Imagine singing Jerusalem on stage with the orchestra, it was a blast! I also joined the choir on QV and we did our concert in the queens Room, another great experience. I met some great other people in the choirs, and besides, singing is my kind of level of commitment to exercise. Do make sure you participate next trip!

I joined the choir on a QV cruise last year. I have never sung with a choir before and don’t read music. I think we had 5 x 1 hour rehearsals and then performed on the stairs in the lobby. It was great and I would certainly do it again.

On our first crossing in Queen's Grill, in 2010 I believe, we shared a table of eight with Maestro Anthony Inglis. He attempted to conscript - oops, encourage - all of us to join his choir. My wife and I said it would be better for us to join the audience where our singing of Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory, etc. would not be heard by others to the same extent. But there were four volunteers from our table.

If we ever again cross during one of the National Symphony's appearances I will take singing lessons. It looked like a lot of fun.

My father joined the choir during the national symphony crossing in on QM2 2016. I got a great video of him singing on the stage.

I recently booked a “back-to-back” pair of cruises on the QM2 in September/October 2019: a R/Trip transatlantic from NYC to Hamburg followed by another R/Trip NYC to Quebec. I found out after I’d booked that the National Symphony is “in residence” on the eastbound transatlantic, and that they have a passenger chorus!

I had no idea this was happening, and to say I’m thrilled would be an understatement.

I retired in 2003 from 32 years in high tech/IT to go to university to study music. I finished my undergrad degree with a triple major in conducting, composition, and vocal performance. Went on to get a M.Mus. In choral conducting and a M.A. in music history & literature with a heavy emphasis on women’s choirs. Sang and composed music for several choirs in the Seattle, WA area.

My voice hasn’t aged as gracefully as I’d like, but I can still manage a halfway decent alto line. The trip is almost two years away, so I still have some time to do some “reconditioning” work. I just have to think that this is one of those “meant to be” situations.

Wow! I think that is fantastic! Well done. I retired after a career in accounting and IT, have never done a music degree but have wondered if I could/should. I really admire your determination and achievement. I sing tenor in a choir - only because they are short of tenors but a high G is out of range now - and play trumpet and trombone in local community bands so that's it for me. On an Azamara cruise I joined a passenger choir - the "High C's". That was fun. My wife has video from the front row. I'm sure you'll have a great cruise.

I don't know if anyone is turned away, but there is an audition and several rehearsals for the National Symphony crossings.

No. Although the absolute best choir is the one with the NSO (can you imagine singing on stage in the theater - it's quite a treat!), but they also have choirs on other sailings too.
