for the same cruise already booked with the same amenities

I sure would expect the discounted price

Maybe you should remind her you are free to use other travel agents for future cruises ;)

Ditto

Our TA always respects and gives the lower price if it is before final payment (for same cruise/benefits provided the cabin cat is still available).

If a cruise was booked onboard then even after final payment the lower price is awarded (“best price guarantee” for booking onboard)

My travel agent has advertised all prices for 2019 have gone down, Oceania April 5th 2019 is on that list, yet when I ask how does that affect "already booked" they said, would you expect a refund if you bought an item, then it went down in a sale?

"ALL prices for 2019 have gone down"?

Perhaps in the UK (or Europe or more generally)?

I'm not seeing any change in what we booked a while ago, on the USA site/prices.

Or it's not showing yet.

Does the new price include the ‘OBC or drink package or excursions’ which were included with your booking?

When I booked here in the UK I was told I could cancel with no loss of deposit so just do that and rebook at the new price. I know you can’t usually do that with UK holidays, but it seems Oceania are different. Your TA is probably unfamiliar with their terms.

OR, that they are stricter with the provision, "applicable to new reservations only".

Hi, I think you maybe right, that they are stricter in the U.K. and may also be "applicable to new reservations only". I did speak to Oceania today, they told me to contact my travel agent, haven't yet. Also on their website, it states that we are are going to Hamburg, but we are not.

I'll send an e-mail and see what happens.

Neither have I on cruises booked in 2019.... none I suspect it might be a regional or such offer I have heard that Canadians have special discounts because of their poor currency exchange..... UK, Australia all have different game rules than in the USA

I just checked the UK website and there is no mention of Hamburg. Are you looking at a travel agent’s email perhaps and not Oceania website? Travel agents get things wrong all the time, even cruise specialist ones.

That is interesting. Correct me if I am mistaken, but here in the UK, just a few weeks ago, I remembered that Oceania sent in their marketing "blurb" to encourage people to book early because they mentioned that after that date, cruise prices would be going UP ! Now, I learn from you that in fact, their 2019 cruise prices are coming down!

Was Oceania trying to be "economical" with the truth then? If so, I would not be impressed and would IGNORE their marketing sales "pitches" from now on. How am I going to trust a single word they say as far as prices are concerned?

Not that long ago, I remembered that Oceania did a promotion but the same cruise prices for the UK was about 25 percent HIGHER than that offered to residents in Continental Europe. I used VPN on my computer, and I managed to go to the prices offered by Oceania to Continental European residents and then, compared those prices with those offered to UK residents. Every single one of the prices were higher for UK residents. I was totally shocked (see discussion THREAD LINK https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2524001 )

You are quite right. As recently as Saturday, Oceania sent me an email ‘book now - prices rise 1st July 2018’!

So I am not mistaken then about their claim that prices are RISING effective 1st July 2018.

But the OP mentioned his/her travel agent has advertised that all prices for 2019 has come DOWN.

Actually are the cruise prices in 2019 on Oceania going UP OR DOWN (compared to 2017/first half of 2018 )????!!!! I am confused. Can someone shine more light on that for me please?

The OLife offers are ending on 30th June in the UK, and yes prices may go up, but you can bet your bottom dollar that within a few days a fabulous new offer will appear putting the total cruise price back down to close to where it was before. All cruise companies do it. If they are not selling at Price X, they sure aren't going to sell at X Plus ,

Greetings, GeezerCouple, from South Beach. I checked the website just now and did not see any price change for our March 2019 cruise. Our final payment is due December 6th, so should such a thing happen, we will go for it. Somehow, it seems that O adds perks, 3 bags of laundry in Concierge in the Med, rather than price cuts. We are in a PH, and I haven't noticed any laundry deals.

We pass Port of Miami very often. The hot competition in the cruise business is obvious. New docks are under construction. New ships arrive with considerable fanfare very often. We receive at least three cruise offers a week. New to us are also offers from travel agencies that claim to supply free cruises, airfare, and other amenities. New builds are certainly in fashion, and all those berths have to be filled. The payment structure on most ships demands passengers. Add to that the creation of luxury accommodations even on otherwise low to mid market lines. Think The Haven. With all this activity, I expect that market lags will hit here and there. If our favorite lines feel that kind of heat, I hope the perks are more imaginative than laundry.

Once I've booked a cruise I don't check prices, but this doesn't stop O sending me offers on a cruise I've already booked!! When I discovered a price drop a few years ago I contacted my TA and suggested she asked for an upgrade to bring me up to the "new" price level. This was granted along with free internet.

So, since you're unlikely to get a refund, ask for a free upgrade or perk.
