Breaking news: Carnival legend collides with rccl ship!

Recommended Posts

Maybe they were close enough, long enough that the RCL passengers were able to jump over to the Legend and get some good pizza. ;)

I would rather eat cardboard with sauce, NO cruise line has decent pizza and Carnival's was gross. Come to NY/NJ to see what real pizza is about.

The Captains have ultimate responsibility. That's just the way it is. In the Navy also, if a ship runs aground or hits something, the Captain is the one that is responsible for everything that happens. Unlike the Navy though, unless there is negligence, I don't think it's treated the same way. 25 mph winds wouldn't have caused a collision by itself so let's wait and see what really happened.

When I was working on the Pacific Princess back in the 70's, we hit breakwater coming into Mazatlan which tore a hole in the hull of the Starboard side of the bow. It cost the Captain 5 years of his Seniority. It was said he should have weighed anchor and tendered the passengers ashore as it was too foggy to bring in. I always wondered about the pilot though and why he didn't hold some sort of responsibility as well.

Pizza and Coffee on all cruiseships is nothing to write home about. Carnival's could at least be called pizza. RCCL's was indeed Cardboard with sauce...

thank goodness I don't do pizza on a cruise, I pick my cruises for beautiful ships, great service and fantastic crew, all the reasons that for me that I don't sail on Carnival anymore.

Well of my three cruises the Mariner was by far the worst service i have yet to get.

Hope it was just bad luck because i am giving RCCL another shot in Jan.10 and hope it is better then the Mariner. I have had by far better service at Dennys than i got on the Mariner. It was so bad i never returned to the MDR after night number 2 and did every dinner in Chops or Portifino where we got service like we got in the MDR on Carnival. Sorry but true...

Well I gave Carnival 3 tries to see if it was a fluke and for us it wasn't, almost gave up on cruises after the last one on there. Enjoy your cruise. I do mine, going on #14 next week and can't wait.

I am sure we will enjoy the cruise either way! I just hope the Mariner was a fluke cause i had heard so much on here how RCCL was better compaired to Carnival. Yes the ship was nicer, but the food and service was a let down.

Here is for hoping. Either way we will enjoy ourselves. Vacation is always enjoyable.

Not true, in the Panama Canal the Captain has to give up control. I believe the only place in the world this happens.

Welland Canal too.. but no cruise ships come through. The pilot has complete control of the ship from Lake Erie to Ontario (or other way).

Must be a CC record... page 5 before the thread turned anti-Carnival. Normally we see it on page one here on the RCI board.

And congrats to the poster who made the leap from collision to pizza seem effortless!

Did I mention I don't like you!! ;) Just kidding...congrats on the upgrade...how did you score that??

Don't know. Got new cruise documents on my computer today and saw Owners Suite. Called RCCL to make sure correct and it was. He simply said you were upgraded. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason to it. A friend of mine got upgraded on their first cruise and on there second got to dine with the Captain. And, they were in an inside cabin. Go figure.

Awww, I can send you one. We have done well, lots of keychains, one of the nice hats, a fancy pen, messenger bags, and something else I can't remember.

I kind of turn in to mush on a cruise and don't participate in to much stuff. I like to relax when there is time.

Sue, take those Spin to Win coupons to the casino and you will correct that deficiency in no time flat. Keychains are practically guaranteed.;)

Here we go again. Bashing RCCL. Why do you continue to cruise RCCL. Didn't you just book the Radiance after having so many problems with there web sight.

I wish I knew how to upload a photo....a friend of mine that is cruising on the ship posted the news on his facebook page about 3 hours ago. He said there was lots of broken glass.

His pictures on facebook show some of the damage on the Carnival ship (he is on RCCL) .... my favorite photo is pic of several workers on the Carnival ship "discussing" the situation.

The easiest way is to download their pic to your computer and then upload it by clicking the "Attachments" icon...the one with the paper clip on it when you post a message.
