"LIVE" From the Oasis of the Seas / March 6, 2010

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. . . . We had a great Dinner at Giovanni’s Table, and the Aqua Theatre Show was fantastic. I want to see it again at night.

I went down to Starbucks today for some coffee, and I asked for some Half and Half. I was told that “we only have Non-dairy Creamer. Hmmm. . . I asked if there was any Half and Half on the ship. The reply I received was. . .”What’s the difference between Non Dairy Creamer and H&H. Hmmm. . .I suggested that you don’t need a cow to make Non Dairy Creamer. No worries, I ‘ll go to the Mondo Coffee Bar for some H&H. They had none. OK. . . I’m sure the Diamond Lounge has some. . . Nope.

The good news is they have lot’s of H&H. .. it’s up in the Concierge Lounge. Oasis Concierge “Ricardo” laughed at the story, and said he would talk to the F&B Mgr. He suggested that all areas on the ship that sell coffee should have the proper creamers.

I think I ran into the same Scenario on Liberty of the Seas. . .

An interesting fact about the cabins are that you only have to partially close the closet doors in the cabin, Then the actuator takes control. . . and closes them the rest of the way (kind of like the trunk of a car that is motor actuated, and closes by it self when partially closed) I don’t think that its needed, but I think it’s cool.

It’s time for me to hit the rack, but here are a few pics from tonight.

The Balcony Cabins offer a “resin” type balcony railing instead of teak. . .Very smart

That is a good idea. I don't even want to think about the logistics of maintaining that much teak railing.

Awesome play-by-play review! I am enjoying on every post!:)

Hello everyone. . . Good morning from our 2nd day at sea on board Oasis. We are about 300nm from St Thomas, USVI. Our current speed is about 15knots, but the seas are very calm. There is a little rolling but it feels very gentle.

The seas and skies are very blue today, and the forecast is 78F with no rain. I am really thankful for this warm weather we have had.

We hit a small patch of rain late last night, but it seemed like it was over in no time. I went to the Concierge Lounge today for some coffee, and I though it was nice that you can order almost anything for Breakfast in the Concierge Lounge. They offer a special menu for Suite and D+ passengers. I didn’t know that existed.

I also noticed that the Sea Trek crew offer Dive Lessons, that are held in the Aqua Theater Pool. I know that when this was designed, it was supposed to be for shows at night and a pool for the day. This is the first time I have heard it being used for anything other that the production shows (and rehearsals)

We have been invited to several tours today, so hopefully I will be able to share some of those with you later today.

I forgot to say that I really like the Casino Royale. . . It is much larger than the Freedom Class Casino.

Here are a few pics from this morning. . . More pics later today !

Thanks for tuning in !

Good morning, Radio.

Nice pics. How'd you get the screenshot of the ship's location? That's cool. When I was on Freedom of the Seas, they had a channel on the TV that showed the postion but there was no way to get it on the computer. Enjoy the 2nd day at sea.

There is no Nav Channel on board, but I have a GPS that I attach to my laptop. I have some Nav Software, that I can use for our exact location.

Loving the "live" reports, Radio. Thanks!

I do have a question if you have time. You mentioned Starbucks and Mondo's. Are they two different locations or does Mondo's serve Starbuck's coffe? And which location has the coffee card where you pay for six and get one free?

Expanding on the SCUBA class comment, there is a full PADI certification course onboard, utilizing 3 days on-ship classes and for the 4th day a dive on ST Thomas(or St Maarten). Since the Aqua Theater pool is over 17 feet deep, it meets the needs of the SCUBA class. It is best to sign up early, preferably by Sunday morning. I believe first session starts on Monday.

Radio,

Looks like a beautiful morning! You must be up pretty early as there appears to be no one in the Solarium.

Question? You mentioned the Concierge and the menu. First, is the Concierge only available to past cruisers? We are in a D cabin, would we qualify to go to the Concierge? Our first week will be our first time with RCCL, then the second week on our B2B will be officially our second cruise with them.
