Free booze no CTN?

I over heard a few of my co workers talking the other day about cruises to nowhere. One of them said that the reason the prices are so high on those two nighters is because the booze is included.

Is this true?

I have never been on a CTN and dont plan on it any time soon but I was just curious.

Thanks.

We took a cruise to nowhere last October, and let me assure you that the booze is not included. But the bar tab is less than on a 7 day cruise :D (mainly because you just don't have as much time to build it up). It was expensive, but we enjoyed the cruise. DH is a teacher and the only times we can cruise normally are the high peak and high family times, so getting away in October (even if only for three days) was a treat.

Nope... not true at all.

The prices are high due to demand. Tons of folks can manage a three day weekend but can't manage a week off.

Um, no. Is the one that said this ever been on a CTN?

By the way...On another line that had a ship in drydock and then was coming back to Tampa they offered a three night to nowhere in an OV cabin for $189pp...Not bad...Two days before the cruise the TA contacted me and asked if my bunkie and I would like an upgrade to a verandah suite for $50 ...I asked why they even called....LOL....

With taxes and all it was about $250 each.....:D

So I think that was pretty cheap....I would do a verandah suite for a 7 night cruise for $583 anytime I could.....;):D:cool:

Not only are there no more than usual free drinks, but you will pay 3% tax on any booze, cigarettes or whatever you purchase in the duty free shops. Even some deoderant I bought I paid the 3% tax, because you dont go thru customs.

That Sheridans for $39.99 is now $41.XX.

Never understood why people will pay so much for a 2-3 cruise.

I have had 7 day cruises that cost the same.

I can answer why I go since I will be going on my 4th CTN in October. First it is a quick

get away, second the cost is the same you

would pay for a stay (with food and entertainment included) at a really nice hotel. Thirdly it counts towards getting to platinum!!!!

It's not too bad if you have a group of 3-4 people that all chip in for a cabin and dont mind sharing for a nice day or two to just have some fun.

Free meals, shows, and some late night fun in the casino. With a small (or large group) could be alot of fun. Especially for those that have never cruised before to get a taste of the ship and then return as a PAST GUEST.

They are expensive, true. But as others have said, not everyone can get away for 7 nights. My friend is only able to get away for the week-end, so we are going without the husbands to have a fun time. Plus, it adds to your cruise count, which helped me get to Platinum faster.

Sorry, no free drinks, but there will be drinks at the Past Guest party (at least on our last CTN there were).

Past Guest parties are only on 5-night or longer cruises.

Must have been a welcome aboard party they held then. I know it was a party with drinks on the CTN. Of course, now I think they just give a discount on the drinks at these parties.

One of those little known facts... free booze. Shhh or everyone will find out and they will stop doing it. ;)

Also, if you can get a petition going and at least 55% of the passengers sign it, Carnival has to refund your full cruise fare. Another little-know fact that I learned from the Crazies on the Conquest. Shhh on that too. ;);)
