beshears Posted September 5, 2014 #1351 Share Posted September 5, 2014 I understand the comforter being heavy, but why use a sheet and "beach towel" to cover up with? Are you saying you put a beach towel over the sheet when you go to bed?

Are you saying you put a beach towel over the sheet when you go to bed? Yes, just the right weight and warmth for me. Cannot stand the very heavy weight of those comforters. cruzincurt Posted September 6, 2014 #1353 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Yes, just the right weight and warmth for me. Cannot stand the very heavy weight of those comforters. My DW takes one of those small lightweight velour blankets to use when taking an afternoon nap rather than a beachtowel.

American Bear Posted September 6, 2014 #1355 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I have an IPhone 4 with an app on it for RCCL. Once out to sea I put my phone on airplane mode and use the deck plans on my phone to get around. On the Majesty someone asked if I knew where a bathroom is, I pulled out my phone and showed them. ALERT: MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME:eek: You'll always find a bathroom near a Casino on RCL for people who are regurgitating from loosing so much on those tight machines!:D
lovelife Posted September 6, 2014 #1356 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Why not just ask for a 2nd sheet? Because it wouldn't be warm enough -- the towel is just the right weight for me (RCI pool towel - I don't pack a towel). :)

cruzincurt Posted September 7, 2014 #1360 Share Posted September 7, 2014 My comment was more for the person who (at least that's how it read to me) brings their own blanket. We have the bedding changed to a standard blanket over a sheet. My DW takes a small, one person velour blanket for afternoon naps in the cabin or on the balcony and her own pillow. Nicer to snuggle under a cover you know you washed. Who knows if/when the cabin blanket was washed. Happy wife = happy life.
rlthng Posted September 7, 2014 #1361 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Cruising October 12th on Allure. Our cabin has not been assigned yet. We have a guarantee of a Central Park view. Just wondering when this might be assigned. We have never done a room guarantee so I'm getting nervous that we don't know where our room is yet. Thanks! :)

Trainman-2 Posted September 7, 2014 #1364 Share Posted September 7, 2014 The Jewel has an open air, but covered, dining area behind the Windjammer. Our favorite feature of the Radiance Class

Yes, she is beautiful. Enjoy the Seaview Cafe before it is removed during refurbishment (I believe in 2016). Also, the Windjammer outdoor seating is wonderful. rodenboy Posted September 8, 2014 #1366 Share Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Here's one for all the B2B cruisers: Despite what the In Focus staff members may say at the end of the first week, you cannot mix and match photos from both cruises to create a (for example) 20 photo package. You have to buy one package at the end of cruise 1 and another at the end of cruise 2. It is obvious when you think about it logically, but three different In Focus staff members on board the Allure recently told us conflicting things for B2B cruisers in relation to the photographs taken on board and how the packages work (including costs.) One member of staff said photos for any package could be taken from both weeks. A second member of staff tried to charge us full price for two unlimited packages (one for Cruise 1 and one for Cruise 2) The other member of staff said we could mix and match prints, but couldn't mix and match the photos digitally. After speaking to the manager, it transpires that B2B cruisers DO need to buy two separate packages, but, B2B cruisers get 50% off their second week package if they buy the same photo package from week 2 as they did from week 1 - or at least that's what we were offered. Hopefully, this will help any B2B cruisers in future. Thankfully, I went up at the end of week 1 to get it clarified - good job I did! hazmat1 Posted September 8, 2014 #1369 Share Posted September 8, 2014 A quick question. When traveling on a B2B, if you purchase liquor on the first leg of the trip, do they give it to you on the last night of the first leg or wait until the last night of the second cruise? Thanks
rodenboy Posted September 8, 2014 #1370 Share Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) They let us take 4 bottles of wine on board the first week. We even commented that they should really take 2 until the second week but they weren't fussed in the slightest. Edit: sorry I don't know about liquor purchased on board. travellady09 Posted September 9, 2014 #1371 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Cruising October 12th on Allure. Our cabin has not been assigned yet. We have a guarantee of a Central Park view. Just wondering when this might be assigned. We have never done a room guarantee so I'm getting Sorry for poking my nose in here, but we were just on the Allure in March 2014. Wanted to share our experience with you, it may help you out. The CP balconies are very warm (hot) and there is little air when using them. No privacy, you need to keep your blinds pulled nearly all the time you are in your cabin. We are Diamonds and have cruised a bit....we thought we would give a CP balcony a try and we regretted it. We could not use the balcony at all. Absolutely no privacy. Don't plan on spending any romantic time with your spouse out there. :eek:The rooms across from you look right at you. Our recommendation would be to ask for an ocean view. Just some feedback for you. :) Dee
travellady09 Posted September 9, 2014 #1372 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Sailing on the Jewel next year. Any secrets or need to knows about this ship? I understand she is beautiful!! You will love this ship. She is our absolute favorite of all the RCI fleet. The closets (unless they have been changed) are devine. Nice wood shelves for shoes and folded items. All up the center with room on each side for his & her items. ;) The safe is over the desk and allows for easy access of stored items. No crawling into the closet! This ship is smaller and has a very intimate vibe. We have traveled on her several times. Good luck and Enjoy! travellady09 Posted September 9, 2014 #1373 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Such great suggestions...thanks for sharing your tips and tricks. Do you think that bottled water will make it on board if I put it in bag with a tag? We were just on Allure in March of 2014. I took a 6 pack of bottled water and stuck it in a huge zip lock bag (to avoid a crushed leaking water situation). I then put it in a small duffle bag with bottles of root beer and Sprite packaged the same way. I then wrapped a towel around the bottles to keep them from moving around to much. I handed this bag to the porter with my other bigger bags. Once on board, The rest of my luggage arrived at our room at about 4-5 pm...the duffy did not arrive until about 9-10 pm. It had an orange ticket hanging on it that said "plastic bag" and it had been searched. DH & I figured the zip lock bags must have looked strange on the xray machine so they put it aside for inspection, but when they found it was simply soda and water, they let it go through. I find each ship staff handles these issues differently, some sticking to the rules, others bending the rules. There is no absolute answer. :) Hope this helps. Rare ReneeFLL Posted September 9, 2014 #1374 Share Posted September 9, 2014 A little glance into the future that RCI doesn't want you to see!DD will be brought online fleet wide ASAP! Then shortly thereafter the number of complementary options will slowly be decreased until about 24 months after full implementation there will be no complementary dining of any type on any of the ships! All dining will be pay as you go! And yes this includes the windjammer!!! And yes it will be far more expensive than the same type food establishment on shore after all they have a captive customer base!!!! If they do this I for one will never sail them again. That is just nuts. I hope it fails.
