"LIVE" from Oasis of the Seas / Jan 22, 2011

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. . . Welcome to Day 4 of my “LIVE” report on Oasis of the Seas. We are currently heading toward Costa Maya (Majuhaul) at a speed of 20kt, and the seas are very calm. We have 556nm to go.

The sun came up this morning, and while there are a few clouds in the sky it appears to be a warm sunny day for all passengers on board. A sea day always include dozens of activities, indoors and outdoors. I guess I should read my compass to see what times the activities are.

I know there will be the many pool activities, and the Fountain Shows. There are also many Casino Royale Tournaments (Black Jack, Roulette, and Poker) There will be several sports activities as well including Dodgeball, Basketball, and Speed climbing.

I will be going to Giovanni’s Table tonight with MedicKen and his family. It should be fun. . .I was there last year on Oasis w/ Mrs. Radio and the food was very good. I will be going to Izumi tomorrow. . .

I walked up to the Windjammer this morning to get a few pics, and then went to Solarium Bistro for breakfast. I love it there. The foods are similar to the Windjammer, but they have a greater variety of healthy foods, and juices. It is also a quiet place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast.

After breakfast I went to the Concierge Lounge for a nice coffee. . .and much to my surprise. . . . There was no Half & Half !

What kind of a ?

Who in the ?

For the love of ?

The Concierge apologized and the waiter forgot to set it up. . . He jokingly suggested that the waiter just arrived on the ship yesterday. . . That was a good one !

Here are some pics from last night at he Oasis of Dream Show in the Aquatheater, and a few pics from this morning.

Thanks for tuning in !

Radio,

Just can't thank you enough for taking precious time from your vacation to post such a comprehensive travel journal. The pictures are spectacular and all the little tidbits of knowledge will be helpful to DH and I when we board Oasis on 2/19.

Thanks again!

Julie

Hi RADIO!!!!!

Just reading this thread seems like I've known you forever! God bless your soul for taking the time in doing all this wonderful work, for all of us who are tuning in, while you're supposed to be on vacation. You literally have my heart pounding and have brought tears to my eyes with all the great info and pictures. I'll be taking my mom on the Oasis on April 30, 2011 (Western Caribbean itinerary). She has mobility problems and travels in a wheelchair...if you get a chance, would you be kind enough to check if the pool area or solarium is accessible for the handicapped.

Thanks so much and have a WONDERFUL cruise.

P.S. - I'll definitely be tuning in every day this week! Looking forward to the Cruise Compasses when you return.

DeeZee28,

We're joining you on the 4/30 Oasis Cruise!! See you there!!

Hi Radio, thanks for the gorgeous pics! I am emailing them to our group to get everyone so excited they can't work!

I saw you mentioned that the Astrology nights on the helipad have been cancelled. Can you confirm that? I was really looking forward to doing that.

Radio, I appreciate your posts. I will be on Oasis on March 19 (first Falmouth cruise). I was wondering which GPS program you are using (seems really neat)? How is the Internet speed? Last Spring I was on IOS and the speed was very slow and few days could not connect. What is the charge for the internet and have you tried skyping?

Also, If possible could you tell what model Samsung TV in room. My wife wants to watch her recorded TV shows on the TV - she gets tired of seeing the same shows repeated on the TV at sea.

Thanks

May you have - Fair Winds and Following Seas

Yes, thank you for all the pics. GREAT, GREAT job. I am another one of the ones embarking this saturday and it's so close I can hardly stand it. Last night I burned dinner because I was looking at your pictures(yes, I'm a husband who cooks) and today I am brain dead at work because my mind is in a solarium hot tub(soon my body will be too!!). It's all your fault, Radio.

Was your Diamond Event in the Blaze lounge...our's was in September and had no trouble getting whatever drink and brand name alcohol the whole week. Just no frozen drinks...also it helps getting friendly with the bartender :p

I was on for the 9/11 and 9/18 cruise. It was in the Blaze lounge and every night I asked for a Jim Beam and coke and was denied. Told that all alcohol brands were not available for this event.

Hello everyone. . . Wow , what a great sunny day today ! Things were happening everywhere ! There were a few people that were able to get a lot of sunburn. . . **Note to Radio** Put on the SPF 50, -Before- you spend 3 hours in the sun. . . Note Taken. . .

The Aquatheater hosted the “Splish Splash” Show (No reservations required), and it was very good. The show featured the talents of many of the members of the Oasis of Dreams show, including 6 Olympic Divers. It was a great show, and the stands were filled !

Casino Royale was also able to contribute to my Cruise Critic habit, and I thank them for that. . . It is now important that I find some “Aloe” to soothe my burned areas, and then I must get ready for Giovanni’s tonight.

I found out that Oasis has declared a nightly Cigar Bar up on Deck 17 from 7PM-1AM (This is the area for Suite Passengers during the day)

Here are a couple of pics from today. . . More pics tonight !

Radio

Oasis has a massive view from back here. . .

Radio, Did you happen to notice if there is a bar server on the pool deck who calls himself "Dr. Feelgood". He walks around with a bottle of rum on his head. We met him on the Independence and saw him again last year on the Oasis. Thanks.

Believe it or not after looking at the above pictures I was thinking the same thing then I read your post how funny, but I was wondering if the Doctor might be on the Allure now. We had the Doctor on the Indy April 2009. Great server.

OH yes, that is him. I hope he moved to the Allure. I loved when he would say "Medication for the Vacation".
