Any cruiselines with dialysis machines

I have heard that some cruiselines or specific ships actually have dialysis machines aboard. I asked Celebrity and they said no. Has anyone ever come across one on a ship? I'm not talking about the ones that you can rent and bring to your room from home for self-dialysis.

thanks

No US based cruise line carries dialysis machines. But there is a company Dialysis At Sea, that sponsors a few cruises every year. They bring their machines on board and handle the dialysis.

We would echo the comments about Dialysis at Sea. This is a fine organization that delivers an amazing service to dialysis patients. When they have a group on a cruise they bring their own equipment, a nephrologist and skilled nurses along to handle the on-board treatment. They work in conjunction with the cruise line and the on-board medical staff and the dialysis patients can be comfortable knowing there are the appropriate specialists on-board.

I just looked at the list of cruises that they do. How fabulous that this is available. With so many people having to be in dialysis, it must be so heartening to be able to be able to enjoy a cruise vacation.

Last year I did see a huge truck with their name (Dialysis At Sea) at the port in Bayonne while boarding the Explorer and I was wondering if they provided such services on board.

for hemodialysis you need to go with someone like dialysis at sea. I personally travelled with NCL Pearl on a 15 day repositioning cruise using peritoneal dialysis and the only anxious moment was making sure my fluid was actually on the boat before we left the dock (if not I would have had to leave the ship). If you have this type of dialysis be sure to get dimensions from the bedside to the toilet for the drain line, and remember you will have to build up a temporary table at the foot of the bed to be level with the bed, as the bedside tables themselves are too narrow for the machine.

Thanks everyone for your comments, much appreciated! I will look into Dialysis at Sea. My mom wants to continue cruising but needing dialysis puts a halt to this and she's not allowed the self-administering kind (sorry don't know the proper names).
