Come Cruise with Me-Jewel Review 4/8/11-Southern Caribbean/2,000+ Pics/Super Long

Recommended Posts

Figured I would put up a little more review for the lunch time crowd

Day 2 - Time to eat again!

So, when we last left off, we were sitting up by the rock climbing wall.

Since it had been several hour since we had eaten, it felt like a good time to go to the Windjammer for the afternoon tea/snack.

I had some past and a taco salad, both of which were good

5646890674_c70944d56c_z.jpg

Also, had to have a little dessert plate (with more of that intestine everyone is raving about!)

For those of you who wonder, "does he really eat it?" - Here you go

By the way, the weather was beautiful all day

Up next - Can you really eat again an hour and a half later - and more. . .

Day 2 - Eating again

After having tea time in the Windjammer, I went back to the room for a few minutes. We walk in and there is more food to eat!

5646895708_f0299a48fa_z.jpg

After this, I went to the Solarium for about an hour. Had no problem finding a seat. Then I started to get hungry again.

On to the Sea View Cafe.

5646897988_822274bc11_z.jpg

For those of you that have never been to the Sea View Cafe, you go up to a little stand and place your order. Then you get one of these and wait about 5 minutes for the food -- good and fresh.

Here I am waiting. Notice how shaving isn't a priority to me on a cruise.

5646333633_41cf8a9472_z.jpg

And here is the onion rings - always a good choice

Great review, please don't let others discourage you. As you said, you told them there were photos and very long, why do they even read it!!

Thanks :)

I understand it's not for everyone. Some people like the quick short ones, some like just words, just pics, etc.

I like to do it this way because I can "cruise" just one more time - (getting my money's worth :D)

Great Review!

I'm cruising on the Liberty Of the Seas in 2 months and have been looking for a review to model mine off of, and I think I found one.

Cant wait for more!

Thanks :)

Enjoy your cruise on the Liberty, it is a very nice ship.

You're making me HUNGRY - and I just ate! Can't wait to try the cafe when we get on the ship for our TA next weekend.

And, Curtis, "less is more" -- NOT. At first I thought "wow, lots of little details...weird." Then I got hooked. Continue, please :p

I'm like a Royal Wedding News Correspondent -- I provide thorough and complete coverage :D:eek:;)

Day 2 - Let's get Formal

When we last left off I was eating Onion Rings at the Sea View Cafe. After this, I went back to the room to get ready for formal night. That's right, I'm rocking a 3 piece.

5646341499_6c29cc9e77_z.jpg

I was real happy with how this photo turned out

5646340627_906cfa3ed3_z.jpg

At 7:35, we headed for the Captain's Welcome in the Safari Club. On the way, we peeked out to catch the sunset

5646903032_abc10f1f02_z.jpg

They started to let people go in at 7:45. We waited in the Schooner bar until the line died down and then went in. We had no problem finding a seat. They said we had 2,159 people on board.

5646910044_0ca34fea5c_z.jpg

They were serving Champagne, Wine and Fruit Punch

5646348115_ee6c4d6a2a_z.jpg

The captain talked for a few minutes.

This all ended at 8:33pm

Day 2 - It's Dinner Time

Next up, we went to dinner.

To start, I had some sour dough

5646915454_4b6b72554f_z.jpg

I didn't get this, but here's some escargot that my aunt ordered

5646352817_971ae18034_z.jpg

I had a Caesar Salad instead

5646837204_3bdedf7c27_z.jpg

For dinner, I had the fillet of beef, which was very good

Day 2 - Dessert and More

For Dessert, I had the Cheesecake, which I really liked

5646359995_75c0f1cedf_z.jpg

I also had the Cherry Bake. Every cruise I look at the menu and see the description of this and think "This sounds really good" - every time it comes to the table I remember that I don't like the taste of this. It's not that it's bad, it's just not my thing.

5646923772_be337c0fc3_z.jpg

When they were taking the orders for dessert, my aunt told them she wanted "nothing" ~ Here's what she got

After dessert was over, our waiter inspected the table and awarded the next balloon animal

5646363799_a5078f8eb0_z.jpg

It was a dog

Day 2 - It's Showtime

After dinner, we went back to the room to change.

This is the only night that the show comes after dinner. Here's the wife at the theater

5646381803_6fda8aef09_z.jpg

First the cruise director came out

Day 2 - The Rest of the Evening

After the show, we wondered around for a while

5646994640_e1d3f88c54_z.jpg

We stumbled on some Karaoke in the Safari Club

5646434539_0fd2905be0_z.jpg

Karaoke isn't really my thing, but it was ok. For some reason, Karaoke just makes me feel weird, can't really pinpoint it.

5646433251_9ff060cb82_z.jpg

At 12:20am, we went to bed. We had to set our clocks back one hour tonight

That's it for Day 2. Coming up Over the Weekend (Monday at the latest ;)) - Day 3 - Labadee, Haiti - It's Labadoosi Time. . .

Curtis - I haven't been checking CC regularly lately. I can't believe that I'm just now finding your latest review! I like the fact that you're only on day 2...I haven't missed much. Can't wait for the next 8 sailing days. I have many comments to make to get caught up.

First, congratulations on the baby.:D If you think you have a lot of camera stuff now, wait until the baby comes. Best excuse ever to buy more gear (Don't you want to remember the baby's first spit up with a fisheye lens honey?)

Second, more camera talk. You mentioned not having a tripod for one of your pics. Have you ever brought a tripod with you on a cruise? I just picked up a new one and am trying to decide between a tripod and a monopod for my June cruise.

Did I see you wearing a BlackRapid strap in the Viking Crown pic? BTW, that's a nice shot by your relative with the D7000. He got the sunny outside pool area exposed nicely, while also catching you and your wife well with the flash.

You're right...your G11 takes great low light shots. Very nice for ISO 800 in a Point & Shoot (if I can really call it that). Did you do much post processing to get them that nice?

I agree...great picture of your wife on formal night. Beautiful.

Enough camera talk. Stay diligent with the exercise. I lost 30 pounds about 7 years ago and slowly put it back on a pound or 2 at a time. It's easy to rationalize that an extra 4 pounds in 6 months is no big deal, until you've put 20 pounds back on in 2 years. Tough to get back into the routine once you stop.

Less is more? Less is more?? LESS IS MORE??? Is there a way that you can transfer that virus that you fixed to someone else's computer?

Glad to hear that Nemo is doing well. :)

I'll hang up now and wait for your answer.
