floatel_lvr Posted September 24, 2011 #27 Share Posted September 24, 2011 I guess you cannot ask where you can smoke!:confused: You are correct. You cannot ask and if you smoke where you shouldn't you will be labeled EVIL. But just don't dare ask where it is okay.

Trainman-2 Posted September 24, 2011 #29 Share Posted September 24, 2011 I am posting "Live" from the Oasis... The English Pub on the Promenade became all non smoking on 17 September. Three tables in Boleros are smoking tables. The Pool deck on the Port (left) side between the two elevator banks is smoking. This includes the Pool Bar. Ocean view balconies are OK for Smoking Ashtrays are available from your cabin attendant. There are a few more places where you can smoke but we never used them and I don't remember what they are. NOTE: We always bring our own ash trays and a tin butt can on board in a carry on. This allows us to start smoking on our balcony at 1:00 pm when we are allowed into the room and gives us a head start on offending the maximum number of non smoking cruisers on nearby balconies. kathyemma Posted September 24, 2011 #30 Share Posted September 24, 2011 I used to smoke and would always keep a soda can on my balcony for ashes and butts. Kathy
thshhh Posted September 24, 2011 #31 Share Posted September 24, 2011 I am a non-smoker and I appreciate the fact that you are interested in finding these locations rather than just smoking anywhere you please. Which I see people do all the time.

surikatina Posted September 25, 2011 #34 Share Posted September 25, 2011 We recently sailed on the Oasis in a balcony room. We are nonsmokers but our neighbors were unfortunately smokers. The ship did give them a large ashtray for their balcony. My biggest problem was that they would place a still lit cigarette into the ashtray and the smoke kept coming out and into our balcony and room! So, even though smoking is allowed, my plea to smokers is to PLEASE be as considerate as possible to those of us who don't partake!
Langley Cruisers Posted September 25, 2011 #35 Share Posted September 25, 2011 They allow smoking on the ocean view balconies but do not supply ash trays. Go figure. I guess everyone throws them overboard. I'm not sure why you said this or where you heard it but as others have pointed out, this is completely false. Please do not make statements such as this and call them fact. Someone may believe you. It's just not true. Thanks. For real.....you really bring your own ash trays and a tin butt can so you can annoy people, or are you kidding. It was his attempt at a little humor. So, even though smoking is allowed, my plea to smokers is to PLEASE be as considerate as possible to those of us who don't partake! With due respect, how else can they do above and beyond what they are doing? Smoke travels, inevitably. It may or may not waft in your direction. This must be understood when booking a cruise on a line which allows smoking on the balcony. I do not smoke, but I respect that smokers can smoke in the permitted areas, their balcony among those areas.

Cruiseoholic000 Posted January 18, 2012 #37 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Does anyone have some updated information ( Changes, Additions) to the places you can smoke. Where is the closest place to smoke from the MDR on Deck 5? Trying to make my mom a list for our up coming cruise on the Oasis.
Cigar King Posted January 18, 2012 #38 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Do these areas permit cigars?? Not unless they are designated for cigars. That being said, you don't have to look to hard to find cigar smokers on the decks.
Cigar King Posted January 18, 2012 #39 Share Posted January 18, 2012 They allow smoking on the ocean view balconies but do not supply ash trays. Go figure. I guess everyone throws them overboard. Not a good idea. They are so worried about fire on a ship and allow smoking on the balcony but you cannot bring steamers or irons. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME.... I am a non-smoker so would like to see it banned on the balconies. They'll give you an ashtray...just ask. My guess is they don't put them on every balcony, since most balconies would not need one. Rare Familygoboston Posted January 18, 2012 #40 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Update- Dec sailing We did not encounter any smoking or ashtrays in either the Globe and Atlas or the Schooner bar...and we spent quite a bit of time in both and would have noticed ( and left) if they were smoking venues. The only venue that was smokey was Boleros. Boleros is on deck 5 indoors, so moms all set. Half the casino and the pool with the ashtrays as mentioned. Additionally, there are ashtrays ( butt catchers actually) on the aft balconies on 11,12,14, but I only saw one person light up there.

drarill Posted January 18, 2012 #42 Share Posted January 18, 2012 We haven't been on RCI in a while but they seem to be the last cruise line around that hasn't tightened up their smoking restrictions. After our Allure Cruise, we cruised on the NCL Pearl and the Disney Dream. RCCL ships are really a smoker's heaven. BTW, I'm a non-smoker, I just hope that RCCL will join the 21st century soon and tightened up their smoking policy.
Cigar King Posted January 18, 2012 #43 Share Posted January 18, 2012 I'm sure RCI will do what is in their best economic interest. You, OTOH, have non smoking options available to you. Enjoy them. If you want RCI to change their policies then deny them your money.

WEELYNCRUZER Posted January 18, 2012 #45 Share Posted January 18, 2012 peaing as an ex smoker of 25+ years I have no problem with smokers that follow the rules. If your asking that indicates you will follow them. Enjoy your cruise and maybe some day you will be able to beat that expensive addiction. When I quit they were selling for about 50 cents a pack. Our next one is back on Princess since they've made the balconies non smoking. :) Maybe some day RCCL will wake up & get with the healthy generation once they realize the profits will remain either way.
