We had Ben Gentry on the Liberty back in 2012 and absolutely loved him. We spent every night in the Piano Bar!

 

Love Ben! I just got off the 9/28 sailing of the Magic and had a killer time, we shut the place down around 1am each night, 2am on the last night.

 

And he actually remembered me from the Breeze exactly a year ago, I was stunned!

It has been interesting reading these posts. I have been on 5 Carnival ships, and have seen a few of these people listed/reviewed. I do find however, that maybe the thread should read best piano played FOR Carnival, as some of the ones praised here would not fit some of the other lines I have been on. The last few seemed to follow a similar, somewhat trashy formula. It was not for me, but most of these posters seem to like it. The piano players I saw on Celebrity and Royal I enjoyed much more. I like to relax, and listen to popular requests, not songs about beer and Alice.

Once upon a time the piano player's contract was for about 6 months but now looks like 2-3 is the norm.

 

Wonder why

 

Because 6 months is entirely too long for an entertainer who plays and sings 5 or so hours a day 6 days a weeks by him/herself. The new regime understands this.

 

Plus, with the direction they are taking the pianos bars, a more energetic party, interactive dueling piano bar vibe, they would never be able to get those entertainers to sign on for 6 months. While the scheduling gets more complicated, this also allows them to draw from a much bigger pool of piano entertainers.

We saw Ben on the Liberty when he was very new to CCL. I liked him (not as much as Brad Alexander). My husband wasn't crazy about his singing style. To each his own.

Another vote for Jordan. We just got off the Victory and went to see him every night except the last night when we were too tired. He was so fantastic I can't even believe it :)
