Casino-anyone ever win??

I took a friend on her first cruise about 18 years ago and the second night she won enough to pay for her entire cruise in the $1.00 slots. She had only played $10.00 when she hit for $1800.00.

Then, on our last cruise last year, she hit again for a good amount. Can't remember exactly, but.......around $800 I think.

My idea of gambling is buying a roll of quarters and throwing it overboard.

That is how my luck goes. DH and I allow ourselves just so much in the slots and.....that is usually gone on the first day at sea. :(

JK for those of you who think I am throwing stuff into the ocean that I shouldn't!!!!!

Just out of curiosity.....approximately how much money does one have to play before reaching 1500 points? I have won more than I gambled in Vegas, but not on Carnival ships.

its 1 point per every $2.50 played. So its $3,500 worth of betting. If you estimate an 80% payout, you would lose $750.00 to get to 1,500 points

Wow, I think so far I win. I won $6,033 two cruises ago on the Quick Hit Diamond machines on the Pride. Last cruise though all I won were free drinks and a vague feeling of shame... oh, and a hefty credit card bill when I got home ;)

Lesson learned: Don't push your luck. And NEVER bother at the casino on the return trip. I have only ever won before ports, never after.

Edit: In case anyone is wondering what I did with the money, I did buy myself a pair of fancy sunglasses onboard but the rest of it is paying for my wedding cruise next year! :)

I do like video poker, but have never won much on a cruise playing those games. I have won though several times on Carnival cruises. I won on my first Carnival cruise on the Sensation, but dont remember how much. I do remember though winning 600.00 on a 25c 3 reel slot machine on the Triumph back in 2004, also won several smaller amounts on the Liberty, and last year on the Freedom, I won 400.00 on a 2 cent machine. None of these however where poker machines. Good luck, and enjoy your cruise.:)

I love to play video poker, but I am wondering if the machines pay on cruise ships??

My mom won back-to-back progressive jackpots on the same poker machine this past January on the Victory. After the payoff from her first win my mom asked me to put her winnings in my stateroom safe. By the time I returned back to the casino they were paying her again, her second win on the same machine minutes apart. Earlier my DW and I hit a royal flush for $500, betting max on quarters, should have been betting dollars. If you think my mom was lucky, you are right. She won a progressive jackpot on a poker machine at the hotel/casino we stayed at in San Juan the night before we boarded the ship.

Just got off of the Carnival Spirit on the 23rd of Sept. A friend of my Mother's was on the same cruise, she hit $1200 two nights in a row on a 3 night repositioning from Vancouver to LA. So I would have to say that they pay off ( I personally avoid all casinos, lol)

January 2009 I hit .25 progressive Royal Flush the first night of the cruise. Thought the machine broke at first. It was about $2500.00. Tucked it in the safe and the last night of the cruise went back to the Casino and did it again for about $2100.00.

If you were betting max you would have won more then that.....check out the photos that were previously posted.

yup, while on the Glory hubby was going in the blackjack tourny and while waiting standing around I got tired so sat at a slot, popped in 20.00 and in 2 mins hit $750.00, I played with it the last few days and only lost 150 of it :)

I usually don't win, but I have fun. The machines don't pay out nearly as well as in the US.

I've noticed that Machines are looser on nights from port to port than full sea days. At least that's when I seem to win the most. The last cruise I came back with $150!:D. I play penny slots.
