bobswife91 Posted December 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2011 My DH and I are not big on seafood. We did receive a voucher for two people at Portofino's and figured for free why not? Do they offer a steak of some kind and has anyone tried it? How does ordering work in the specialty restaurants, if you don't like something can you get something else like in the MDR? Please advise. Thank You. Laura
Rare silentbob007 Posted December 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2011 They offer a filet in Portofino that many like more than Chops. I'm not sure what happends if you don't like an entree, but generally you get one main and any appetizers you want along with a dessert. There is plenty of food and it is quite filling. Desertbelle Posted December 16, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2011 My filet at Portifino's was much better than my filet at Chops. The second night we did Portifino they were having a lobster special that was exceptional. I'm not sure I will go to Chops again, Portifino, at least on Freedom of the Seas, was superb. temple1 Posted December 16, 2011 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2011 My DH and I are not big on seafood. Please advise. Thank You. Laura Portofino is the Italian venue although they do serve some seafood entrees. I'm sure if something is not to your liking they will replace it. I don't recall anyone mentioning having to send something back at any of the specialty restaurants.

leilow Posted December 16, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2011 I just had the filet at Portofino on Jewel. It was excellent, but not as good as the two I've had at Chops. Our waiter said the Portofino filet is marinated for 24 hours to ensure it is juicy. It was definately juicy and tasty, but slightly tough. Nothing beats a good old fashioned, dry aged, medium rare filet like they serve in Chops. My Sweetie Pie had the Lamp Chops at Portofino and said they were outstanding. K1200S Posted December 16, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2011 The filet in Portofinos is excellent but I prefer Chops. Can't go wrong with either.
peteukmcr Posted December 17, 2011 #14 Share Posted December 17, 2011 Just personal preference, after 2 visits to Portofino and Chops on our recent Liberty TA, other than the fantastic company with friends at Chops on one of our visits, Portfofino won IMHO and it's $10 cheaper! wannasail4ever Posted December 17, 2011 #15 Share Posted December 17, 2011 My two cents: Been to both Chops and Portofinos many times. To me, the fillet in Portofinos is much better. Mine have always been super tender. Oh, and the tiger prawn risotto is out of this world. Yum Yum! macy

Desertbelle Posted December 17, 2011 #17 Share Posted December 17, 2011 Yes, yes, yes to the filet and that risotto! And the tiramisu is fantastic too! It's because of that delicious risotto that I didn't have any room for the tiramisu!!
megr1125 Posted December 17, 2011 #18 Share Posted December 17, 2011 as a confirmed "meat-atarian" the filet in Portofino was YUMMY on EX and i couldn't finish it... that said, i've also, happily, paid the 15 bucks to get the Chops filet in the MDR too....(since EX doesn't yet have a Chops...)
