Spring 2012 Season of DWTS Formal Gowns

Recommended Posts

I liked their dance with Donald the best of the trios.

I got my fill of prominent "girls" last night when I switched over to the Voice. Christina A had hers almost on full display while singing a duet of 'the prayer' with her finalist Chris Mann. One of my favourite Andre Botchelli songs and she ruined it for me.

He was fabulous! He did a good job tonight on the reprise, too.

Hi girls.....I leave for Rome tomorrow:D so I will miss the finals....

(it really is ok;))....tonite is a new thing...DOUBLE elimination....

so 2 couples are going home:eek:

I LOVE Donald too:D and I hope he is not going home!

We don't have any Hawaii posters, do we? Results are in...I'm pleased with them.

I'm going to miss the finals, too. But I will Tivo it and leave a big note on the TV for the housesitter not to override it, as has happened in the past.

Hi all, I am a day late as usual :) . I liked the design of Brooke gown (not so much the color) the Monday night but I did not care for the squirrel on her shoulder. The dress she had on Tues night was ok , but the whole bodice strappy thingie didn't work for me.

I thought that Melissa dress she had on for the three person dance was the best of any that she has worn on the show.

As for the result , I think it was probably right. And I agree that Donald is really doing well , his feet are moving fast to keep up with the ladies and he kept up.

Still not sold on Derek and his partner, don't know what it is , just not my favorite.

The stars are all doing well , am impressed.

smoothdancer: Thanks for the feedback on the gowns, and designs, etc. It makes sense , but you would think that a designer would want the gowns to look the best on the dancers, just to make themselves look good, don't know. Different strokes for different folks. :)

Have a good week all.

I liked the strappy thing, but I was surprised when I saw it was a short dress. I would have liked all the top detail balanced with a long skirt. I don't think her hair down and heavy looking worked with it either.

I was kinda neutral about loving or hating Brooke's sequined mini last night. Maybe that's because I'm just envious of her being able to pull off horizontal stripes. The colours were alright, but in the end it was just a tight tube dress for me. I really liked Maria's jive look of the pink halter top and the full white skirt.

Here's a recap I found of last night's show.

I liked her dress but there is no way I could ever pull that off, even if I were 20 years younger!:D Probably not even if I were 30 years younger!

I really liked William's samba, Katherine's quick step, and Maria's tango. I really did not like Maria's jive, thought it was kind of strange. I was surprised Len was not more critical of it as he usually likes dances to be traditional.

I think the dancers are all pretty even if their abilities so will probably come down to who is the most popular.

Brooke's dress is another style that is bit odd for me. I don't like the square fabric piece added at the top of her chest with a cut out below. I never think that gold is the best colour on her either.

Sounds like next season is going to be all-stars from past seasons.

Yes I agree , was a bit odd. First thing I thought of was "beam me up Scotty" , my dauthter said "Road Warrior" , don't think it was complimentary to Brooke.

All the dancers are good , so I did not know who would go home. The final should be really something. I never really heard what Marks partners injury was , her back ??

What did you think of the Macys dance ? I thought it was good. And what did you think of Julie Anne Houghs dance number ? Not my favorite sort of thing.

But I liked Carrie Underwoods singing.

Katherine's doctor told her that she had a reflectorical spasm in her lower back. Didn't explain what it was at all.

The Macy's design-a-dance didn't thrill me except for Tristan being in it. I swear that at the end he had this look on his face like he'd just had great sex.

My favorite design-a-dance will always be the Jive? where Derek opens the piano to reveal Julie Anne inside after she was off a few weeks for surgery.

Julie Anne's Rock of Ages number I'm impartial to. I still don't know if I want to see the movie in the theater or wait a year to watch it on the movie network. Same with Carrie Underwood and Alanis Morissette. They were good, but I don't really listen to them much. I liked the colours in Carrie Underwood's dress and she was young enough to pull off the one fishnet sleeve.

I will ask my daughter if she knows what a reflectorical spasm is , my daughter is a Physical Therapist , and might know what it is. IF so I will let you know.

I tried to google it yesterday, but I gave up after 3 pages of search just leading back to it happening to Katherine.

Sorry , have not had a chance to ask daughter, she has been a PT for about 15 years now in acute care at a major hospital ,so she might know. I am having surgery today and won't be online for a couple days , will ask her and let you know when I am feeling better.

That's ok, no rush. Just work on feeling better soon.

Brooke's gown tonight I really like. The cream skirt with a heavilly embroidered top in gold thread is pretty and girly. The top looks about a half inch too tight on her. Haven't noticed the bottom of the skirt yet.

Carrie Ann's just looks like a sparkled spagetti strapped tank dress so far. Boring.

I loved Brooke's gown tonight, elegant and classy and not showing too much. This would be a beautiful dress for a cruise.

Most of her dresses this year have been somewhat better than previous years, and I like that she doesn't look so scrawny in the arms anymore either.

Her hair was a lopsided mess, though, like they didn't quite have time to finish styling it. Carrie Ann's dress was forgettable.

Hi , had my surgery on Friday , and doing good so far. I did ask my daughter about the back spasm thing. She said she has never heard of that exact termanology , but her guess would be that the spasm caused by the reaction to the dance position at the time. She said she could research it when she has some time, so if she comes up with something else I will post here and let you guys know. OK

I liked Brookes dress tonight , but I did not see if it was a floor length or shorter ? Anybody else see that ? I must not of thought much of Carrie Anns dress , because I could not tell you what it even looked like. Or may be I didn't care , cause I am on vicodin. :)

I did think Petas dress might come off if one of those side straps went, then we would all see more of her than we needed to. Interesting to see tomorrows show.

Glad to hear that you are recovering. :)

Brooke's gown was floor length. The gathering at the waist made a lovely ripple even at the hem. Must be a wonderful fabric to work with. There were no details or trim below the waist. Her hair almost looked like mine when I try and fail to do an elegant updo and then it falls halfway down when I'm done. Maybe they were trying for a faux bob?

The only interesting part of Carrie Ann's dress was that it appeared to have a two tone black on black wave design in the fabric from maybe glitter or small sequins.

Almost forgot...I'm rooting for Donald and Peta. I felt kinda let down by the freestyle routines Mark and Cheryl designed for this show. Didn't seem to have as much content as past years. Maybe I expect too much from past multiple mirror ball winners.

I liked Brooke's dress tonight but not her hair.

Although he is not my favorite:D, I think Donald will win tonight. I think Katherine is the best dancer but there was something about her freestyle that I found irritating. It seemed frantic at times and I felt like she was really struggling to keep up. Also, those white shoes did not help!:D

I do think William is one sexy dancer!;)

HI all!

Brooke's dress looked quite nice, what I could see beyond the closed captioning!!;)

Kerri ~ Donald's my pick too. He's really put his all into dancing. William's hot but not as good a dancer IMO. Katherine's good too.

I read today that Maks & Peta are dating. True?

Not much longer 'til we know who gets the coveted mirror ball trophy !

Loved Brooke's dress, but the bodice was too tight. When you have boobage spilling out of the top, it's too tight. Plus, she had makeup on her chest that wasn't attractive----it was too shiny.

Peta's blue dress was just too much. I'm not one who likes the near nudity and thought her dress was more suited to a porn movie. Same for Cheryl's second dress. That lace number made it look like her boobs were exposed.

I think Donald's first dance was lacking. It seemed too short

I liked Brooke's pink dress; yes a little too much of the girls, but not as bad as some times. With some adjustments it would be great on a cruise.

I still think here dress last night was one of her best ever.

I will admit, I'm disappointed in the results. I don't feel the best dancer won. A good dancer, but IMHO, not the best.

That's the way I feel too. Good, not the best--but that's the norm with this program.

I was also a tad disappointed in the results because I felt all along that Katherine was the best dancer, was actually quite amazing what she did without a dance background....

Still Donald did nail the freestyle with his country number and I have felt in prior dances he was not judged as he should have been... His group swing was incredible and the scores did not reflect what he did.....But the final 3 dancers were all good, so I am not super disappointed.

Late in my response to what Brooke's gowns but the cream gown Brooke wore a few nights ago, to my eyes was drop dead beautiful... The pleated skirt, the embelishments on the bodice, dreamy!! I certainly would wear that one myself on a cruise and get lots of pictures!!

The pink gown she wore for the final show was nice, but just nice. I though am happy that she has changed her style from the tiny cocktail dresses... She looks quite stunning in the full length gowns..... LOL, am I the only one that always notices her nail color decisions!!

Oh, and the blue dress that Donalds partner wore, yuck!! Too revealing even though she has a body for it, just to much....

I wondered about Katherines shoes also... I was not sure if they were trying to recreate the era she was dancing to in the jive or if trying to preserve her back injury... Overall, I dont think that Mark did the best in her costume decisions....Still, if it was me I would not of picked that type of shoe... I wear a very similiar shoe to what she has on in practice because a box heel is so much eaiser on the body then a slim heel, but I would never wear this type of shoe in competition....

LOL, I guess we will never know.

See you all next year.

I'm no shoe expert, but I think a one or two inch T-strap in white would have looked miles better than that shoe. It was too clunky for the dress.

I thought Brooke's deep pink gown on Tuesday was almost perfect as another I would wear if I could. Loved the colour and the 3 buckle gathers. I need more fabric up top however so things don't fall out and I would sew up at least a foot (or more) of the slit that seemed to reach her right hip.

Carrie Ann's dress was very nice last night also. Might be a favourite if we ever got to see the whole thing.

I'm happy with the results. Should have had money on it, even got third place picked right before they announced it. Donald seems like a really nice guy who has turned his life around. Hopefully he does something with young people because he's kind of inspiring.

Will be interesting to see who DWTS gets for next seasons all stars.
