Butterbean1000 Posted March 22, 2012 #26 Share Posted March 22, 2012 Step away from the fanny pack. If you are a man, why do you need one? For a woman, small cross body purse. That's it. Enjoy your cruise
terryinal Posted March 22, 2012 #27 Share Posted March 22, 2012 it depends who's judging, i say do whatever you want:) fyi, they do have string type mini-backpacks and a crossbody camera/messenger bag does look stylish and can hold any souvineers too. I agree with you. Where or do anythink you want to. Your trip. My wife uses hers when we go to a casino. Wait, but I don't care what I look like or what people think. sunshine252 Posted March 22, 2012 #29 Share Posted March 22, 2012 Another vote for not caring what other people think. BUT, my DH uses his pockets for S&S, ID, & cash & I think fanny packs are ugly & will not wear one b/c of how I think they look. FWIW, I can't wear Crocs, either... rockraiders Posted March 23, 2012 #30 Share Posted March 23, 2012 A great option for men is a cinch sak and for women a small crossbody bag.

Potstech Posted March 23, 2012 #32 Share Posted March 23, 2012 I wear one. I find them very functional when I use one. They serve their purpose. and finally what do I care what people think about me wearing one. It is my vacation, my stuff and my responsibility. So i will make the decision and everybody else is freeto laugh at me all they want. So what.
LKYGSR Posted March 23, 2012 #33 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Since recent events (Concordia), we now keep all our important items, passport, credit cards, cash, in a small fanny pack and place it in the safe. If the time ever comes that we have to abandon, we can quick grab the fanny pack at the same time we return to room for life jackets and be on our way. It straps on tight and wont bring attention to no bags allowed.
sarahleebones Posted March 23, 2012 #34 Share Posted March 23, 2012 I use a belt bag...my friends call it my fanny pack :p They have all sorts of mens and women's styles. ferfoodle Posted March 23, 2012 #37 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Giggling. Google what " fanny pack" means in Brittan Try "knock me up" yeah totally different than the US version too. All English - but so different meanings for several common words and phrases depending on which neck of the woods. Stylish or not, I am a hands free type - and if the "fanny pack" fits the outing, I wear it - only on my stomach side - not the back side. Wear a lanyard too while cruising - just easier. KirkWN737 Posted March 23, 2012 #40 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Only if it matches your crocs! LOL. Thanks for the laugh! Fanny packs are a no-no for DW and I. I just carry around a jansport backpack. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.
Herfnerd Posted March 23, 2012 #41 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Don't use one - I have a Witz Surf case to carry my S&S card, ID, cash and copy of my passport securely under my shirt. Backsack for sunscreen, camera, water bottles and for carrying souvenirs. Never used a fanny pack when they were in vogue and not going to start now. Same for wearing black socks with sandals - but that look was never in vogue.....:eek: :D:p:D:p

Retired Man Posted March 23, 2012 Author #43 Share Posted March 23, 2012 What is so wrong with a fanny pack? I'm not about to lug around a backpack just to carry my passport, ID, cigarettes and money in. Just because it's called a fanny pack doesn't mean you have to wear it in the back. I wear mine in the front so that I can tell if someone is trying to get in to it. If that puts me on Mr Blackwell's list of worst dressers, who cares. I agree. A fanny pack is just the right size for the uses I would have. Why constantly have to deal with a back pack. And as far as to what others think, I have long passed such concerns in my life. It is just their opinion and nothing else!
ccruisequeen Posted March 23, 2012 #44 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Are fanny packs still used or are they now a no no? I still use mine. I have glitzy ones, leather, cloth, in different colors to match my wardrobe. They hold casino cash, gloss, sunglasses, and a book (sometimes a snack and my meds). I even use them shopping and on shore between cruises. I never have to worry about forgetting my purse if I set it down somewhere because it's always with me. Long live the fanny pack/hip pouch! FlaLawdog Posted March 23, 2012 #46 Share Posted March 23, 2012 I carry one...but then it's where I carry my gun and badge. (No, not on cruises). I was out one time and a guy looked at me and said with a snotty tone of voice "You carry a fanny pack?" I looked him in the eye and said in my coldest cop voice "Yeah, I carry my gun in it." He stammered a hurried "oh" and walked away...quickly. LOL Seriously, they really are pretty practical, you just have to be secure in your masculinity to carry one. You're never going to see those people again anyway, go for it!

RWolver672 Posted March 23, 2012 #50 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Step away from the fanny pack. If you are a man, why do you need one? For a woman, small cross body purse. That's it. Enjoy your cruise  I am a man and I need one because I don't carry my wallet when I'm on a cruise. Ever hear of pick pockets. They can clean you out before you even feel that they are doing it. With a fanny pack in front with zippers on it, they''d be hard pressed to get anything from me. And how can I enjoy a cruise when I have to worry about not meeting someone's standards by wearing a fanny pack? Cruising is now ruined for me for the rest of my life. Oh the humanities! :(
