Remember the old NCL Majesty.....

We took the Majesty on her last cruise. I thought she had a major incident shortly after she was sold and went overseas. Did they manage to salvage her?

She was hit by a huge wave in the Mediterranean, resulting in two deaths and six injuries. The physical repairs needed were only minor and she was back in service almost immediately.

The Norwegian Dawn is the ship I've spent the third most time at sea behind the Norwegian Jewel and Spirit. She's a great ship! I look forward to sailing on her again later on this season possible for a Boston to BDA run! :)

We will be on the Dawn next month from Boston .. we sailed on the Majesty.. the first year it sailed out of Boston in 1996..under majesty Cruise Lines...then changed to NCL.. We sailed the NCL Majesty from 2002 -2005..... There was nothing like going through the cut.. and docking in St. Georges!!!so much has changed there.. Have done the Dream. Spirit and Dawn to Bermuda.. and still going..

We sailed on the Majesty in 1997 from Boston to Bermuda. She was the "Royal Majesty" at the time and had just been sold to NCL--shortly after we sailed on her, the name was changed to NCL Majesty and she was "stretched" (extra footage added). We enjoyed our cruise, but several people were seasick on the way back to Boston from the slightly rough conditions (not us, we LOVE the rocking motion;)).

We sailed the Majesty when she was the Royal Majesty and sailed a Boston to Bermuda route. I think when NCL bought her they added a section to the middle of the ship. We also sailed to St George Bermuda when NCL owned her, and had a great cruise. We also saw her in Barcelona, painted all white and named the Louis Majesty.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to hear she is still in service.

This was already established early on in the thread.

And that correction was apparently completely missed by the poster to whom I responded. Check it out...I wasn't replying to the person who first wrote that, but rather someone who posted at least a day later.

The NCL Dream was also able to get into ST. Georges, she made the trip from Boston the year after the Majesty left.

The NORWEGIAN DREAM had several cruises in that one year she did the Boston to BDA run where she tied up at Hamilton instead of St. Georges because she could barely make the run through Town Cut. The one and only voyage I took on that ship was to BDA and we docked in Hamilton. I am also glad NCL no longer has that ship in the fleet. I didn't like the ship.

Lois is actually chartering her out to another cruise line to be used. I forget which one. Lois has not had much luck with their fleet after they sank a ship off Santorini.

Thomson is taking the Louis Majesty and returning the Thomson Destiny to Louis.

We were on the final Majesty cruise to Canada. The upsell fairy provided us with a suite and we have not looked back. Majesty was a good size ship and interesting on how they stretched her. Many things did not work on her but the crew was great. One issue cruisers had was she was set up for the old style buffet feeding not freestyle. Enjoyed the Majesty and understand why NCL sold her.

We're in the process of moving, and I just found a card that still has cash in it for Plamenka, our casino host. She was wonderful, and I couldn't find her the day before we left the ship. I was glad I tipped her when I won in the casino, but wanted to give her a card with more and let her know how wonderful she was to us. Anyone know if she's still working on NCL?

They sure did have one of the best crews we've ever had.

The Majesty is the reason DH and I love to cruise. Our first cruise on HAL was a horrible fit for us, and DH swore he would never cruise again. I managed to convince him to give NCL a shot since it appeared to be more laid back. After cruising the Majesty we were hooked on cruising. On both of our Majesty cruises we had cabin 710 on the Promenade Deck. It was fun watching people walk by our window and we learned pretty quickly to close the curtains at night.

Me too!

Here's a pic I took when we sailed on the Majesty back in 2004:

Thanks for posting these beautiful pictures of our beloved ship. This is the ship that made me an avid cruiser and an NCL fan. :D

As you can see from my signature I sailed the Majesty 3 times. My favorite was the Bermuda run into St George. I will never forget it. I loved waving at all the residents as we came thru the cut. It was amazing! I got seasick on the way back to Charleston (first time ever) but I still love cruising and have very fond memories of the Majesty. I felt so close to the ocean because it was smaller.

I've cruised twice, both times on the Majesty to Bermuda. Loved it. Going again this year on the Dawn and can't wait! I'm looking forward to seeing the difference in the two ships.

Speaking of going through the cut at St Georges, check out these pics. It was awesome that they could maneuver that ship into that tiny opening!

Great pics Lthouselady! I loved going through the cut on the Majesty. My usual recommendation to people going to Bermuda is to take the ferry to St Georges to experience the cut and the pretty little fishing town. Then ride the bus back to Hamilton, stopping by the Swizzle Inn on the way.

Going through the cut was definately an adventure of sort and exciting. I also agree that the ferry should not be missed as it is a great sightseeing experience.

I've enjoyed the pictures posted on this thread..nice memories. I sailed on both the Crown and the Majesty to Bermuda. The Crown docked in St. George and in Hamilton, which was wonderful. While we were in St. George I bought a print of a watercolor of the harbor there. It was done by a local artist and shows the Majesty docked. There are some videos on youtube of the Majesty sailing through the town cut.
