familyfuncruise Posted September 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Do we have to go to our room and grab our life jacket or can we just go to our munster station without it when asked? Our last cruise we noticed many without them on. After the drill they proceeded to the deck party while we had to walk back to our room to return the life jackets. Just curious! Thanks for any info.:)
firefly333 Posted September 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Its been years I think since people brought them to the muster drill. No need to bring them. I think some dont know better who bring them.
westcruzer Posted September 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Firefly is correct (as usual). In the last few cruises we have not needed to bring the life jackets.

Our last cruise we noticed many without them on. After the drill they proceeded to the deck party while we had to walk back to our room to return the life jackets. Just curious! Thanks for any info.:) We didn't have to bring them (last month's Liberty cruise) but I did see one or two people who did have them. I think that it was announced (and was probably in the Fun Times) that we didn't need to bring them.

I think some dont know better who bring them. Around 2009/2010 or so... IIRC, we had to wear them on Pride (summer 2010).

nybumpkin Posted September 20, 2012 #17 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Thank you all for a laugh tonight - I needed it!:) And the last cruise for which we needed life jackets at muster drill was Miracle in July 2009. By February 2010 when we were on Conquest, they eliminated the need for the jackets.

oldrailfan Posted September 20, 2012 #20 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Trying to think. (major undertaking at my age...) In 2004 we had to take the jackets with us, also in 2007, but by 2009 they were saying leave the lifejackets in the room, so I don't know exactly when they changed. dancing dragon Posted September 20, 2012 #21 Share Posted September 20, 2012 The Coast Guard change the rules when the Oasis Class of ships came out in Dec 2009, that you no longer needed to have the life vest with you when you attended.. at each station they have enough life vests on hand to give out anyway... the ruling was applied to all ships as long as they met certain criteria. and I believe all do... so no more vests, but you still have to attend..... Love the Munsters... great show
cathyz Posted September 20, 2012 #22 Share Posted September 20, 2012 And they don't even call it the muster drill anymore! It's the 'safety briefing' now (or something like that) since they also talk about norovirus, etc, etc.
