smoosh21 Posted December 7, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 7, 2012 My opinion the Sorrentos pizza tasted like an Elios or Tombstone frozen pizza to me. But for a quick snack a few times I had the plain cheese. I'm from NY and I did not expect the pizza to be up to my elitist standards. I wouldnt say it is even good as Elios. Although the Sorentos on the Monarch was actually the tastiest. It seemed that they cooked it differently on that ship
TheBigFig Posted December 8, 2012 #29 Share Posted December 8, 2012 I've only had Sorrento's when on the Majesty and it tasted pretty decent. I wonder if it'll be different on the Independence next month.
dmwnc1959 Posted December 9, 2012 #30 Share Posted December 9, 2012 I don't claim to be an afficienado but rather enjoyed the pizza at Sorrento's on Allure. There were a couple of different types other than cheese or pepperoni. Found myself dropping in for a quick slice many times during the cruise. Saw quite a few making the small pizzas to order, and that guarantees it will be hot and fresh.
Cruising89143 Posted December 9, 2012 #31 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Just like anything else when it comes to food, depends on your taste buds. It's not the best that I have tasted and certainly not the worst.
retiring soon Posted December 10, 2012 #32 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Hi all! My biggest disappointment on Oasis was that Sorrentos only had pizza not many items like Freedom.:( Great that there were a few other places to make up for it. ~ Jo ~ :)
styxfire Posted November 14, 2014 #33 Share Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) Sorrento's on Allure was THE WORST PIZZA I've ever eaten. The cheese was a chemical concoction rather than food. It was like being in college, when you're flat-broke and ordering the $5 large pizza from the worst vendor in town,... only worse! It was the type of food you would enjoy if you had marijuana-munchies. But for the average non-drug-user real-food-eater, Sorrento's Pizza was very VERY bad. Didn't really taste like food... Tasted like starch & chemicals. It was like a Tony's frozen pizza that you buy at WalMart for $1. Actually it was so much worse than that. And I'm a loser because I actually went back to Sorrento's a 2nd time. (I had though maybe they just had a really bad oven failure or stale leftovers the first time... but no, it was equally bad the 2nd time.) Even fresh out of the oven, it seemed like manufactured chemicals rather than food. 1 yr ago I ate at Sorrento's on Liberty of the Seas. I enjoyed that meal. But based on the pizza that Allure served, I will probably NEVER eat at any Sorrento's again. It was like catfood spread on cardboard. Seriously, I was horrified that the cruiseline served that. In 50 yrs, it was my WORST PIZZA EVER. Never again, Royal. AVOID. Edited November 14, 2014 by styxfire

Rare JamesEM Posted November 14, 2014 #35 Share Posted November 14, 2014 It was like a Tony's frozen pizza that you buy at WalMart for $1. AVOID. I was on the Allure last week and agree 100%.
prekteacher Posted November 14, 2014 #36 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Well I guess I am weird because I am looking forward to having a pizza in Sorrento's. Fortunately, living in Chicago I can get some of the best pizza around stuffed or thin crust or buy a Tony's or Tombstone any day! I will take Sorrento's next week as I enjoy a week on Allure for Thanksgiving. No complaints here at least not yet. I'll let you know after the cruise. :D Barb
Rare BillOh Posted November 14, 2014 #37 Share Posted November 14, 2014 I have a question about the Sorrentos Pizza place onboard the Allure. In addition to the pizza, do they serve any other type of food? If so, what are the choices? I had been on the Oasis, and did get a slice of pizza there. But, for the life of me, I can not remember if the Oasis class served anything else. Thanks. There are other things and more across the Promenade as well, but to me the best thing is the made to order personal pizzas.

pcur Posted November 18, 2014 #39 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Perhaps I'm in the minority here but I think the pizza at Sorrento's tastes just fine, so long as it's fresh. If it has sat for any length of time, then yea it tastes pretty bad but so do most foods. I'll take Sorrento's over the room service menu late at night. Ha! I actually love cold, leftover pizza. My husband thinks I'm nuts!

I didn't find it horrible at all, and it was most always fresh because they were so busy. You can also create your own if you wanted it fresh out of the oven. I ordered room service pizza one night, and it was so bad I only took two bites. Really, really, horrible! As stated, Sorrentos is much better.
