dolphinwyo Posted September 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Hi I was wondering if the FTTF program allowed you to reboard the ship on tenders in a priority line. Specifically, in Cabo there was a long line to get back on the ship last time, is there a tender priority line for the return tender? Thanks
shonuf Posted September 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Nope, it only applies to leaving the ship.
dolphinwyo Posted September 22, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Thanks. Still will be worth it, but would be nice to get back on quickly too.
tattoos Posted September 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Not even Platinum cruisers are allowed tender priority boarding.
lady_cruiser Posted September 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2013 We were told no that you can't use priority board when going back to the ship but as you said FTTF is still a great bargain even without this perk.
Sparky2 Posted September 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2013 That sure would be a very nice perk. To avoid the long lines we usually try to get back on the ship early.
Laurie S. Posted September 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Not even Platinum cruisers are allowed tender priority boarding. Is that a recent change? Our platinum friends had priority tender boarding from Cabo to the ship in December 2010.

coasterjan Posted September 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2013 I've heard of people claiming to get priority tendering back to the ship because of their platinum status, but I think it was more a case of them feeling "entitled" and walking to the front of the line and nobody wanted to fight with them about it... I watched a bunch of drunks bully their way onto the next available tender in Grand Cayman even though the line was a half mile long. They "weren't feeling well..." Yeah, well neither was I! Those of us who had waited in the hot sun for close to an hour were annoyed, but they were escorted onboard anyway.
lindfaz Posted September 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Stand in line and wait just like the rest. No entitlements here. We don't need any. What is the rush to get back?
SadieN Posted September 23, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 23, 2013 For a VERY brief time priority tender return was being done, several years ago. In Avalon we were once put into the front of the line by Carnival personnel when they saw our platinum cards around our necks. The line was all of 20 people long.

Maybe if you are in your 80s, enjoying your twilight years by taking a cruise and standing in a long line, in the hot sun, it would be nice to get back to the ship a little earlier. dolphinwyo Posted October 11, 2013 Author #14 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Getting back with kids that are tired at the end of a Cabo beach day. Last time it was over an hour in the sun, drunk spring breakers all around, and tired, sandy kids. Not essential to get back in a hurry, but would be pleasant. elliair Posted October 11, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 11, 2013 As you can see, FTTF only applies to board for the first time, everything else is get in line like everyone else. Sucks huh - you would have expected more for $49.95. :D
golfadj Posted October 11, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Some years ago on his blog JH said that platinums got priority boarding back to the ship and we were able to do it several times. Than it seems to have been eliminated.

Smart Arsenal Fan Posted October 11, 2013 #19 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Every tender port I've ever visited, our technique is: find a nice shady bar within sight of the tenders, (there's always one :D) order a cold beverage or two, then just "chillax" talking about the day's events, out of the sun until the line is mostly gone, then leisurely saunter up and walk onboard the tender.... cool, happy, and stress free. You know, like we're on vacation? And no, before the usual CC monsters pipe up, we are not delaying anyone, just choosing to "wait in line" in an alternate location. Usually there's even a couple tenders after us...

Chances are there will be some crew members in the bar with you, just watch them and leave when they do. ;)

Usually by 2 pm or so after 3-4 hours on the beach (HMC) and a nice lunch we are ready to go back early afternoon when there is no line.
