Solo on the Allure - My Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Next up was the Solo Lunch at Giovanni's. I thought we had agreed to meet at 1, but, when I got there at 12:45, everyone was already eating! I'm really starting to think my roll callers were avoiding me!

Since I was late, I only ordered 2 courses so I could catch up. I think I had Caesar Salad, but, I forgot to take a picture. Here is my lasagna, everybody say, Yummy!

Cynthia had some kind of fish and she let me take a pic.

The chocolate tart was delicious, we all agreed it would be better warm.

After lunch was the World's Sexiest Man Competition. Somehow, I didn't take a single pic. It was fun, though, it would have been better if there were more guys in it (and more guys younger than 73).

Then, I ran into my own Sexiest Man.

I roamed around a little, taking more pics.

I made my way up to the Pool Deck.

The show that night was the Ice Show, Ice Games. I liked it a lot, saw it a couple of times. The show moves too fast for my camera to get pics, but, here is one.

The idea for the show is a tour of the ship set to a lot of Michael Jackson music with a little Van Halen thrown in. And, somehow, they base the whole thing on a game of Monopoly being played using everyone's favorite, classic tokens, the squid, the lobster and the sea horse. HUH??:confused:

Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but, it just didn't make any sense to me. Why would RC pay what has to be tons of money to the makers of Monopoly to use their trademark to make it such a stretch to fit the theme. Why not just have the tourists tour the ship on their own, without rolling the Monopoly dice? Oh well, I guess that is why they are millionaires and I am not.

My favorite part was the couple eating at Giovanni's and the wife had had too much wine. To be able to skate as if you are drunk must take so much talent. The show was funny and the skaters were excellent and the music was fabulous. Do not miss this show!

After the show, I got a couple of sandwiches at the Cafe Promenade and took them back to my room. It was tuna on a sesame seed baguette and brie on a sunflower seed roll.

I ate them while watching a couple episodes of The Big Bang Theory that I hadn't seen before on the TV. That and a couple glasses of wine was very entertaining to me. The joy of cruising solo, if you have a little crush on Johnny Galecki, you can watch TV in your cabin for a while. :D

After that, I went to the game show, Majority Rules. I had never seen that game before and some of the solos had told me it was fun. It wasn't that much fun that night, maybe we just needed more people? Oh well, it was a nice way to end the evening. Tomorrow, we would be in Labadee!

I do have a question about how the gift exchange was done. Since the Meet and Mingle doesn't begin until 9:30 and the Crown and Anchor party begins at 10:10 or so, is there enough time to do the gift exchange after the cruise staff does their activities or how was this done on your cruise?

Well, the gift exchange was done really quick. The guy just said come up and put your gift on the stage and take one. By the time I got up there, most people had already gotten one. It all worked out, though. I saw the people who got my gift looking at it.

You'd change your tune if it was the pool acrobats!:D

OK, I was just looking through this post and noticed this. This is a children's parade with cartoon characters for the children and what is the one thing that is NOT in this picture?

Ooooh!!! Lol! Children!!! Chuckle.

They are in school! I'll bet that your cruise had very few children on it.

I pulled them together and awarded them my flashing necklace, which flashed for six whole days, finally petering out on Saturday.

You should be able to turn those necklaces off and on by squeezing in a certain spot, in which case it should last for six whole years ;)
