LIVE from the CORAL PRINCESS - March 26th to April 6th

Welcome aboard the Coral Princess as we begin our 11 day short adventure through part of the Panama Canal. We know this ship well, so it’s like coming home. Boarding was a snap; being a Wednesday the port entrance was totally empty. There was no line, we went right to the Elite area and were in our cabin at 11:45.

For those who are interested in the wine situation, I carried on 1 bottle in my wheelie and one more in my big purse. They asked after xray screening how many bottles I had in my wheelie and I told them one. They didn’t ask about my purse and I didn’t offer info. Then they told me to go over to the table to officially tell about my wine. This time I complied. They had a list and wrote the number one next to my room number. I could have given them a false room number, since they never checked.

Other than the usual Welcome Aboard Show, tonight’s entertainment is Now you See Me on MUTS. In the Universe Lounge will be two showings of the movie; Philomena. This is what we may do tonight. Daniel Oliver is in Crooners, party band Epithani is in Explorers and Phoenix Rising in Wheelhouse.

Now on a personal note. Most of you know that I’ve never told how many cruises we’ve done with Princess. But now I’m telling. This one is number 75. When we arrived to our cabin there was a beautiful floral arrangement and shortly thereafter arrived a bottle of French champagne and a tray of 8 chocolate covered strawberries. Everything had appropriate greetings, but the best gift is the welcome invitation for breakfast in Sabatini’s; every day for the entire cruise. Mike is loving this a lot, since right now his mobility is not too good and he loved this service when we were on the Ruby in January.

I’m going to end this now and start putting away our stuff. The big suitcase has just arrived. Hope internet works well and will try to post this now. It did log on immediately.

Later.

Pia, What a pleasant surprise to see you already posted ! In December I was on the Coral for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the ship and especially the fun people I met through our M&G. Since most of our group was Platinum or Elite we met every night for the pre dinner party. Hope this is a great journey for you and Mike.

Pia, Congrats on #75. Knew you were close when we saw you on the Ruby. So was looking for this post. When we celebrated our 50th, we received all those things, but no :( breakfast invite for Sabatini's. Guess we will have to wait till we get to 75. Only !!!!! 20 more to go. Enjoy! And soon you should get an invite for a private tour of the bridge. We really enjoyed that.

Just popping in with updated info.

1. Something new with muster. After it was over there was an announcement into the cabin for those who didn’t attend to immediately report to the purser’s desk. After 20 minutes or so, they then announced it again and this time by name and cabin number. I asked about this and was told it was new and will be implemented from now on on all Princess ships.

2. Captain Circle party will be Monday night March 31st (casual) and wine tasting will be Thursday afternoon, April 3rd. Most traveled luncheon is also April 3rd and cutoff is 233. There are only 70 Elites on board this cruise.

3. I already know the stats; we are number one. Second place has 460 days less than us. You just never know the scoring from one cruise to the next.

Will be back when there’s something meaningful to report or even if there’s nothing to say. You know my fingers have a will of their own.

Ciao, probably until tomorrow.

Pia! Glad I found this thread! I shall follow it for the duration as I always enjoy your posts. A HUGE congrats on your 75th cruise. What a wonderful achievement. I'd set that goal but being 58 cruises shy of that number I doubt I'll make it .... unless I live to be over 150 and inherit a lot of $$$$!

Pia,

Congrats on 75 cruises. I’m so glad that you cruise so often, It means that I have that many more "Live From" to follow. Keep up the good work.

Someone has to do it. Have fun.

Hi Pia,

Congratulations on the milestone that you reached. Your earned every bit of the recognition you are receiving.

I love to read your "Live From" every time you do one. I usually do not post as I know your time on a cruise is precious. I really LOVE the Coral. My sister and I were on it last year from Port Everglades to LA. We got off in LA the day you boarded for your trip back to Florida.

I hope that my wife and I can cruise with you and Mike someday. Have a good cruise and enjoy, I know I will enjoy your cruise through you!

Congratulations on your threescore-and-15th cruise with Princess. I read too fast and thought you had 75 days. For a moment, I preened, thinking I had you beat. Alas . . .

Enjoy Sabatini's breakfast (do they have chicken and broccoli in the am, one wonders?).

Love the muster public shaming!

Thanks Pia for the Live.

Congrats on number 75. Us Johnny Come Latelys are jealous!

Make sure Mike takes it easy. When we sail together in June (really looking forward to that), Jo will keep him honest.

Shalom, Andy

Good Morning all; Thursday at sea. Boy did we rock and roll last night around dinner time. Captain even made an announcement apologizing and said it would get calm in a little while. And it did. Today’s forecast predicts weather to be close to 80 with hopefully calm seas. Right now it’s fine.

Last night we did attend the early showing of Philomena and we both really liked it. Since it was at 6:00, our dinner consisted of some snackies from the Elite Lounge and a quickie croissant sandwich from the IC. On this ship they are both near each other on Deck 6 which also makes it convenient to proceed into the Universe Lounge. Beer (him) and wine (me) was quite satisfactory. Afterwards we stopped for coffee and a “look see” (me) at the casino. I left a few dollars ahead, but odds are that I’ll give it back eventually. Donna, it was Denver Duck that did it. :)

Our Roll Call was very sparse, so no official M & G was scheduled. I suggested to our participants that we have an impromptu meet at 10:30 this morning in the card room. We’ll be there and hopefully a few others will show up.

On tap this morning is a slideshow of the highlights of our first three ports of call, a scavenger hunt signup (I do this with Tina and she’s not here), a shopping talk (of course), first meeting of the Princess book club (book is “We are Water” by Wally Lamb, first Bingo and pop choir signup.

In the afternoon the movie Fast & Furious 6 will be shown in the theater, and movie Fever Pitch will be on MUTS. There will also be a port talk on Aruba and Cartagena and more Bingo of course.

Tonight is formal night and the champagne waterfall, the prduction show Motor City (yes, it’s still here) in the theater,

Jobs on MUTS and the comic Scott Wyler in the Universe Lounge. Our plans are not to see Motor City. We’ve not yet seen “Jobs” and we have seen Scott Wyler many times. And of course there’s always a casino option. So many choices. ;)

Just back from the gym, which was H as H and now going to breakfast. Catch you later.

As with you on the Coral, I was surprised that Motor City was still on the Grand this month. I thought it had finally been retired. We have cruised much less than you and DW refuses to see it any more. At least on the Coral it is presented in the Princess Theater so the staging is a little different than when it is shown in the Vista Lounge. Hope that show is finally retired soon.

Our experience with wine in LA and San Francisco this year was essentially the same as yours in FLL. When the scanners found bottles in our carryon we were directed to the alcohol table. We claimed all of our bottles because we were planning to bring the bottles over the two we were allowed as a couple to the DR. We were able to charge the corkage to our cruise card and received stickers to put on the bottles.
